View Full Version : soloing at 44
So I got into EQ2 again for a little bit, where is a good spot to solo at 44? I was soloing 38^^^ blightrats for 1% a kill but it was tedious as hell. I went to EF and killed yellow solo mobs and its about 10 kills per %. Even worse. So yeah, any ideas?

soloing is always slower than grouping. Just explore the available t5 zones until you find something you like. There is no one sweet spot that will give you tons of xp for very little work. that's just the way it is. Keep in mind that as you go, you'll be makin cash that you can use to upgrade your char, which will make the process easier. There is no quick fix though. you gotta earn your lvls dangit. :p

Message Edited by x0rtrunks on 02-15-200609:28 PM

Splitpaw harclave should be nice solo xp, but truely grouping with 2-3 friends brings massive xp and it is more fun imo . I got 43-5 with a wizard and a templar killing in Soluseks eye (for the heritage mainly) and in permafrost was very nice. Now another good solo spot would be everfrost just outside permafrost it has some bears, giants etc that are solo mobs, u might want to try em.

Unfortunately, harclave is no longer "good exp". Even though you're killing hundreds of white-yellow heroic mobs, you get almost no exp at all... not worth it IMO. Oh and they screwed loot in harclave too. It's good to do harclave once just to say "I've been there", but that's about it. Man, I remember when harclave was good exp and loot... those were the days, hehe. :smileywink:

Harclaves is still a great place for very fast XP, and should be done at the beginning of each lvl. Once you zone in and grab the torch, switch on Wind Walk (or whatever invis is called at that lvl) then light all the braziers and get the buff, jump down from where the chest is with the buff in it and kill the mob on the right hand side.. this will be cake. Then wait for mana to regen and invis again. Run all the way to the boards you place over the gap and jump to the other side. Kill all the mobs up to the Spore King, this is pretty easy too, just pull one mob at a time (location aggro is better here, as a taunt can draw two mobs). Once the spore king is dead, go invis again and run right up to the boxes at the end of the zone. Place them before the King and jump up next to his chair. Kill the adds then him.. click on the chair and you'll get about 20% exp for about 25 mins work. Do Fitch's prank and the upper tunnels as well.. make sure you do the entire upper tunnels (all but the heroic mobs that is!). You can easily solo a lvl in Splitpaw and the treasure is still second to none at that lvl if soloing. Good luck and happy hunting!

Torpian, are you actually saying that you get 20% exp for completing harclave (the quest) now? In this case I'd go back there at 59 even, where everything is grey-green... might get less than 20% of course, but if it scales down from 20% at lvl 50, I should be getting about 10% still? That would be sweet (but I still can't believe it, hehe). :smileyhappy:
problem is - pugs (pick up groups) are extremely hard to find. AND make for that matter. And yes - I got to 44 doing splitpaw, and thats also how I got all my rare gear and weapons. They completely nerfed the loot and exp there.Makes me think they're doing it on purpose so people buy the expansion.

The best advice is to reduce the amount of downtime as much as possible.

No matter where you hunt, the best plan is to find a spot with a good number of blue/white/yellow linked mobs. Find a safe place to pull to and fire away. You should be able to tear through them very fast yielding around .3 xp per pop with vitality, in the T5 levels, and get great loot in the process.

Don't get me wrong, heriocs give you more xp - but imo, the downtime is just not worth it. Group mobs and/or no-arrow mobs back to back with no downtime is the way to go.

Sorry I can't think of any good T5 hunting spots, as it's been a while. However, once you get to level 45, I'd try your luck in Sinking Sands.

Good luck!

The trick to a pick up group is to make your own. I get on and lfg fer a few.....but I look at the lfg list for all zones and anyone in my general range invite and I always get a group very fast. The invited usually ask what are ye huntin? I always say what the mission is and make sure that we can do what they need too if at all poosible. But if you are doing a cool zone, dungeon, castle etc......they are usually in. So make your own group and have a blast. It is easy and fast.

I have always liked running areas where there are yellow no-arrow mobs in high quantities. Also at 44, i would go explore DOF. Just walking around invis should get you enough discovery xp to ding 45 then you can kill crocodiles on the beach.

Id be happy to buy DOF - but i dont have the money atm

I left the game at level 44, (just returned)

I have a few recommendations for solo areas.

Right before I stopped playing they increased the drops in Ruins of Varsoon. I found Name mob farming very good bouncing between all of them at a steady pace. I think however at 44 most would be grey. There would be some clays in there that would con. Probably not the best grind area but if the drops are the same it’s worth a try.

Enchanted lands and Zek are perfect places to solo. I like enchanted lands, in the event your LFG a lot of areas near are perfect for groups. You wouldn’t have to go far to reach the leveling group that invited you.

If you by chance find a duo partner, while I duel boxed I found Runny eye Excellent for that level as a duo. The drops there at the time as well were very good. Between ROV and Runny eye drops alone I was able to deck out both characters in top tier at the time.
