<div>Hiya,</div><div> </div><div>I have just returned to the game after a year long hiatus and I am in the process of leveling a Monk ( Still a brawler atm ). Is there a huge differance between using a Staff or 2 Fist Weapons? I would assume the staff would do more damage at a slower rate.</div><div> </div><div>For Visuals I prefer staff, but don't want to reduce my damage output if 2 weapons is that much better.</div><div> </div><div>Thank you for any help</div><div> </div><div> </div>

There's a couple threads with similar questions around.Basically pick what you think looks coolest. DW will have a slight damage advantage over 2hb, but 2hb will have a slight advantage with less ripostes. In the ends it's pretty much a wash.Personally i've used maul, bo staff, batons, cestii, and quaterstaffs. And I've never felt like less of a monk for using any of them. I still pull out different weapons depending on how i'm feeling. Right now i'm fond of the cestii knify knify look. cut cut cut cut cut.<div></div>

<div>for dual-wield I suggest beer bottles, you get both crushing, then slashing-piercing. bar-stools are your best bet for crushing.</div><div> </div><div>x0 is right.. pick the best weapon you can afford that you enjoy playing, and have fun.. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></div>

<div>I like the cestii, after all what's a cat without his claws? It works out well with the emote audio too, as my taunt says 'I just sharpened these claws' and my threaten says 'I could tear out your throat before you blink!' I even have a macro setup to do those two emotes followed up with a devastation fist. (=</div><div> </div><div>Honestly though, IMO dual wield setups are overall slightly better. You get more stats and more DPS, the less ripostes of the 2 handers just don't quite make up for it. Having said that.... there's a lot of playtime that the minute difference doesn't matter. I still carry around my Bo Staff and use it often in XP groups and less then truly challenging encounters just because I like the Bo combat animations the best.</div><div> </div><div>Mrewoer!</div>

<div></div>I have to say, that I too prefer the cestii, although I do use a club paired with one. You just plain get better stats with dual wield. As for the club...well it looks like a baseball bat and a sexy Kerra has to have something to chase all those toms away with.

<div></div>I use Cestii as well. Since I found now 2 Ironwood, I look for a Woodworker to make me 2 Quarterstaffs. Only problem is, there are none on my server, or so it seems.

Regarding beer bottles as weapons, in that one little mini expansion for EQ1 that had the pirates (right before LDoN, cant remember the name) one of the items you could loot was a broken bottle piercer.  I used to play around and dual wield a set of them on my warrior for fun.<div></div>
