<div>I just finished the Lost Legend of Lavastorm heritage quest not 5 minutes ago and I now have the Crown of King Tranix.</div><div> </div><div>It's stats are good but it's mitigation isn't so great.</div><div> </div><div>Right now at level 59 I'm using a Helm of Null.</div><div> </div><div>+10 Sta +10 str +35 Health +22 power +270 Disease +135 poison, Leather Mitigation of 151.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>With the Helm of Null, my stats are</div><div> </div><div>HP: 4,828</div><div> </div><div>Power: 2,201</div><div> </div><div>Attack: 1056</div><div> </div><div>Mitigation: 1443</div><div> </div><div>Avoidance: 57.3%</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Now with the Crown of King Tranix:</div><div> </div><div>+11 Sta +11 Str +50 Health +20 Power +405 Magic, Cloth Mitigation of 95</div><div> </div><div>My stats change to:</div><div> </div><div>HP: 4,849</div><div> </div><div>Power: 2,202</div><div> </div><div>Attack: 1058</div><div> </div><div>Mitigation: 1387</div><div> </div><div>Avoidance: 58.3%</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>I gain 21 HP, 1 Power, 2 attack, and 1 full % of avoidance, but I lose 56 in Mitigation.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Now please do be aware that I am not in a raiding guild and that a Serrated Claw Medallion from Scornfeather Roost is the only single Fabled item I have on my being. The Helm of Null is the best I can find (or afford) on the market.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>I know I should just see for myself how well I perform in combat with it, but I'd like to get an oppinion on it please.</div>
<div></div><p>Get a tailored scaled skullcap, mitigation seems the key when you tank. for DPS Crown is very nice to wear for a non-raider. A nice helmet drops in Poet Palace which you can get as well as non raiding player</p><p> </p><p>Ssaar</p><p>60 Monky of Befallen</p>

<div></div>Just have to find one person for your group who has access. The cap he's mentioning is the skullcap of precision that drops from Aysor's Eye.

cloth isn't really a viable option imo. The difference between the two items you list isn't very pronounced, but the difference between the crown and a scaled helm is very noticeable.Legendary crafted isn't out of reach of anyone. All it takes is some time to harvest. Now before you say you don't have the time to harvest or you hate it and have other things you'd rather do, I hated it too, but think about it for a second, If you just spend about a week or two dedicated to harvesting you can make a load of cash off of mobs around the nodes, as well as get some rares to get some very nice crafted armor. Consider it an investment in your character. The better gear will open up all sorts of new content options that you never thought possible with treasured stuff.Anyway, /end rant about getting some half decent gear<div></div>

<div>Yeah but how much Strength and Stamina do I have to give up for useless stats like Wisdom and Intellegence for buying a rare crafted?</div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>I'm still miffed at how we have Intellegence on our [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] leather legs when a shadowknight would have to be an idiot to prefer to wear them and since druids and monks don't use intellegence...</div>

Inteligence effects the strength of weapon procs. It isn't entirely useless, though it's far from our most useful stat. And for druids doesn't it effect the damage of their spells? And wisdom = resists. 1 wis = 3 resists. Far from useless as a tank.<div></div>Rare crafted has excelent mitigation, good balanced resists, balanced stats, and good hp/power. It is a very balanced and rounded armor set.I would consider rare crafted to be the defacto standard which can be suplemented with good pieces of treasured or fabled items depending on the situation. For instance i keep a bunch of treasured str gear in my bag for when i dps.At the very least i would recomend getting a tunic and leggings for the mit and procs.

<div>All things considered I'd still take stamina and strength though, but I'm not even close to reaching the stat cap so what do I know about thier importance?</div>

<div></div><p>Always remember this avoidance is more important to a monk than mitigation. You are a monk you will never have high mitigation. How much mitigation can you get with leather armor? Scouts will have a higher mitigation score than you. Your stances will determine most of what ur doing. Use ur defensive stance when tanking. Use offensive when not tanking. I hope that helps yah :smileytongue:</p><p>I wear a T5 Gi cause it has more str, agi, sta, HPs, and power than a T6 scaled tunic. The only thing the scaled tunic has is about 20 mitigation more and I always seem to tank better with high avoidance than with 10-20 points more of mitigation lol my IMO.</p><p> </p>
Good points, but mitigation is the only defensive measure we have that is easilly upgradeable, unless you're getting like 600 agility to raise your avoidance by 2% or whatever. I dunno about tanking in defensive stance much, either. Sure, your resist, avoidance, and mit will go up but you lose a ton of crushing and haste... which means you'll be generating less agro and your stuns will miss more. If you time your stuns right when you're tanking you will never ever close to dying, as long as you can hit the mob with some consistancy. To me, mitigation is more important than avoidance because the avoidance is an innate thing for us... not something we build up through gear.<div></div>

I normally tank in balanced stance. That's what it's for imo.Avoidance is just there for us. Getting it higher is hard. Mitigation is there when avoidance fails. And avoidance always does.I'd rather have a monk in legendary crafted tank over a monk in treasured dropped. Even if the treasured monk has slightly better stats. It's the mitigation on the crafted that adds up.I wear the Gi of madness over the scaled as well. The difference isn't very pronounced, but it's a very nice 4x T5 fabled and blows treasured stuff out of the water.Treasured leather mit is about 180ish compared to the crafteds 235ish? Add that up among all your pieces and the difference in mit is pretty substantial.<div></div>

<div></div><div></div><p>I use balanced stance for most soloing, always tank in defensive unless its green or lower heroics and I mainly use offensive here and there in spurts.</p><p>Well, I also tank orange raid mobs when asked in offensive stance, since I need to hit them to keep aggro.</p><p>Message Edited by Gaige on <span class="date_text">01-27-2006</span><span class="time_text">02:55 AM</span></p>

<div></div>I currently use the crown of king tranixx and it's a fine piece of gear... I'm still waiting for Aysor's Eye to give me an upgrade though, but the dang thing only drops the brawler hat when I'm NOT there. :smileymad:
