Played a Wizard to 60, and tinkered with a Bard up to 20 or so.What I'd like to do, is learn some of the dynamics involved in tanking, but without giving up all of the DPS and Utility. Seems to me like the Monk and Bruiser would be a good fit. My questions are...When you are a monk or bruiser, how often are you the tank in the group? half the time? more?Do both monk and bruiser get invis? Can you solo herioc names with color? (green or blue)Is it hard to get groups? How's the DPS? Compared to, say, a Bezerker. Thanks in advance.<div></div>

You might find <a target="_blank" href="http://members.shaw.ca/jasonznack/eq2/Thenewmonkfaq.htm">the FAQ</a> and the links to threads held within very informative.<div></div>

I thought monks wouldnt be good main tanks...but i was wrong.Im currently a 27 monk and everytime i got a group it was for the main tank spot....even though i always want to be assistant so i can use offensive haste buff......BUT none the less, we make great tanks and everyone i grouped with has loved my toon...but that may be b/c i play a good "fighter"Ive been able to solo green hero's ^^^ but they can get tuff...havent been able to do blue'sMonks get invis and more group oriented buffs (like their heal and DPS) where bruisers are more 'self-only'<b>Getting groups</b> - Ive had no problems with it, just last night i was getting tells from people looking for a tank when i wasnt even LFG (this hardly happens though).....You can answer the call for TWO types of slots....DPS or TANK....so you just doubled your chances of getting a group over some classes that can only fill 1 spot...This is the main reason i went from SK to MONK...cause my SK was only able to fill one slotIf you wanted a fighter you wouldnt be disapointed (zerkers also fill the DPS and tank role, but i dont know much about them...i wanted the martial arts character with utli buffs)<div></div>

<div></div>Thank you for the FAQ page for monks. Having a lvl 29 monk that I gave up on before the combat revamp, and busting him out last night this page definalty helped me. I upgraded my spells to all adept 1's except plodding tortise...havent seen this one on either broker for a few days on mistmoore. I picked the master 2 group taunt and it seemed to do pretty well in a giants/gnoll group last night. Not having played a tank before this guy, its all new to me, but pretty fun. I have a couple healers so its nice to be the dmg dealer that can take a hit...unlike my lvl 42 warlock. Seems like after last night I will be busting out the monk more often cause it was dang fun. Question for you guys though.....Stats I should be acquiring are str and agi? I basically have str and agi at about the same lvl and wis I'snt to far behind...do any of you guys have wis as a main thing for resists and mainly mana(pwr). Seems like I have too little pwr at lvl 29...under 1000 pts of mana.

<div></div><p>those are the main three with stamina up there too...we all need hitpoints so we can tank longer:smileywink:</p><p>the good thing about being a monk or bruiser when we are tanks we can deal decent damage still which helps us...the problem is adds are a pain sometimes with monks</p><p>and brigands make good tanks.:smileyhappy:</p>

As for stats, I focus on str, sta, wis/agi. In that order.Strength is simply the fighters main stat. It effects your powerpool and damage dealing abilities.Stamina is health, and as an avoidance tank, the more hp you have, the better chance you have of surviving a few bad avoidance checks.Wisdom for resists is important against caster mobs and aoes during raids.Agility is for our avoidance, but the gains are pretty low and you need a lot of agility to make a big difference to avoidance. I certainly wouldn't focus on agility over any of the other stats. For a more detailed look at stats and monks, see here: http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=6&message.id=24258<div></div>
