Heya all...hopefully quick questions for my fellow monkies

My normal group is a 40 monk (myself), 41 Mystic, & 38 Conjuror. We are having a quick discussion on Multi MOB encounters:

1. What would you think would be a long enough time for me to have each MOB targeted when cycling through them to keep aggro with my DPS & Dragon Stance?

2. My typical pull goes like this ranged attack, group taunt while pulling back, once in safe place, AOE attack. The mystic almost always pulls aggro from me on the initial pull due to his wards, but I get it back on the first group taunt (barring resists). Is there anything that we can do to stop that?

3. Here is the plan we came up with, let me know where the holes are in this plan:

I pull as listed (see question 2 above)

The conjuror/pet will dictate which MOB will die by concentrating their attacks on one MOB

I cycle through the group and attack each about X seconds (see question 1 above) to keep aggro ending on the one the conj/pet is on to add my DPS to the killing speed.

We are pretty decent right now, but we want to get more efficient. We just don't think we are using everyone to thier fullest. I'm almost always top DPS, even in def stance, and that's with combining the conj/pet into one number.

i usually do what you do, except i cast Wisdom of Zephyl (or later upgrades) after the group taunt. its a group buff and it usually ticks off the whole group really well.If you have an adept 3 proc taunt, 4-6 hits should probably suffice for each mob to keep them on you. If you have app1, 6-8, and if you have app1, 8-10 probably.

I have a 40+ monk.. when I tank with 1 group member, I will ensure I have dragon stance on me, and intercede on the group mate. Than all you have to do is throw your heroic chain and land the area taunt once, if it misses any or they are un-chained groups, just switch and throw a single taunt on each one about once.. dragon stance works great though and intercede before every pull. Also a quick mend/compress to the caster if I havent pulled taunt off them yet.

try this:rangedsingle tauntgroup tauntdo a few ca'sstorming palm lineae attackwhen u ranged attack the mobs will go to the first person that is casting or to u. when u single taunt the group will actually lock on to u as a target. group taunt sets the group hate on u. hit ur target with a few ca's to lock agro on that specific target then use ur storming palm line and ae attack directly afterwards. ull hit them with the dmg from the ae attack + the proc from storming palm. if you lose agro after that the conj should be able to just burn them down at that point because they are prolly very low on hp.

Well, it's prolly no secret to you that as far as group agro is concerned, monk is the worst class for maintaining..lol!

But it can be done! First off, if you wanna keep the initial pull off the mystic, you can do two things. Easiest? Tell him/her to drop the wards on the pull. If your just group xping, wards are nice but not really necessary (for the most part).

Or...you are gonna hafta jump in the fray, and get your aoe taunt off to catch them all before the wards start going off. The problem with tanking as a monk isn't getting group agro...it's holding it. Couple of things that I find help....

1) Throw up Shocking hand/Storming palm proc line so it's cued and active in your maintained spells BEFORE you pull the group.

2) Run in range so your AoE taunt grabs all mobs.

3) As soon as your taunt is off, hit them with proc'ed AoE attack....that will build you a bit of hate to facilitate your next move

4) By moving around, position the mobs that they are individually easily discernable

5) Then as quickly as possible, cycle through each mob lauching your single target taunt (whenever it's up) and/or at least two attacks per mob. Rinse and repeat.

6) Hit herioc opps as often as possible as crushing anvil (when activated) is an extra AoE hate gainer.

And of course, make sure your Dragon line hate proc is up.

Lots of monks have good strats different than mine for holding agro that work well too. Hope this helps

Slapp

60 Monk

Heroes Fate

Grobb

Don't sleep on intercede, it will save the healers/casters life on that initial hit he gets before you gain aggro.

After the initial pull, sually 2-3 hits per mob is my cycle before moving to the next in the group. In addition to state changing CAs and taunts as they are available. I do a lot of grouping with a mystic, and this is how we get arounbd that pesky ward. Either have them not have it (/sad) or pull with your group taunt. I hope that spell gets tweaked a bit, because it is a real pain.
