How do you guys/gals think the Monk is going to stack up in PvP? I personally believe Monks are going to rock in PvP. A class that can dish out our DPS, take hits (more to the point avoid them), stun and invis. Basically I see us as tanking Assasin in PvP. 55+ we get a few skills that just help even more in PvP. From what I am hearing from Monks and Brusiers that /duel alot they seem to only have problems killing other Monks and Brusiers. One thing I notice alot is when I FD I normally get a healer run by and ask if I want a rez, I'm guessing I really look dead.. I'm just picturing some noob seeing me laying on the ground and start /laugh or /dance.. Then I pop up and pound him into the dirt for it. <span>:smileyvery-happy:</span><div></div>

Dont forget to factor in a important key aspect of PvP - Ambush!Brawlers are good at duels because you have 5 seconds to prepare, you know your enemy is near...you know what skills you want to use on him/her...and you have him targetted...If you get jumped by a stealthed ranger/scout or by a invisable castor (who starts with a root/snare/pet) then your at a big disadvantage...Like in WoW my warrior would destroy most classes in duels...but when i would be in contested territory and get jumped unexpectidly it became MUCH harder to surviveIt takes about 2-5 seconds to:a) figure out whats attacking you (class)b) figure out where its attacking you fromc) position yourself to attack backIn those 2-5 seconds the person could have enough time to do major damage (ofcourse depends on class...)I can picture rangers having alot of fun in PvP.....Always sucked when i looked down to grab a music CD or talk on the phone and then look up to see my health half down and a assasin latched on my back<div></div>

But you forget Monks get invis also So it might just very well be the Monk doing the ambushing. Also take into account totems that will let you see invis and hidden and invis totems and anyone can either be the ambusher or see them coming.<div></div>

<div></div><p>Duels are much more ordered with much fewer variables then open PVP. Any class that knows how to play their class well will likely be able to take down an unsusupecting foe they ambush.</p><p>In my opinion, the Monk's lack of a powerful ranged attack will not lend them well to PVP. In fact, the same goes for all brawlers and warriors. For open PVP you're going to see lots of mages, scouts, and of course a few healers running around with no need for a tank.</p><p>I just hope when the PVP server folks start calling for nerfs and balancing they start making entirely different mechanics for the PVP servers then they use on the PVE servers.</p><p> </p>

Depends on how much they change. As it is now, my dirge eats monks for breakfast since they will never, ever come close to me. If they remove his slows my dirge would get killed very, very fast.A monk could probably survive ambushes though as they have a heal, dispel, outward calm and tsunami.<div></div>

our problem is our lack of upfront burst dps. We do better damage over time. Unfortunatly pvp is all about burst dps.Bruisers were made for pvp, shorter recase self heal that heals for more, with a fear + a mez, and high burst dmg, a 3 min defense/mitigation buff, not only a stun removal but a (15sec?) stun immune ability. They are much better geared for pvp. One thing that really annoys me is we get silent fist, which has the potential to rock, but ever notice that it has a chance to be removed by the target taking damage. I see it get removed a lot more when im actually watching for it against mobs.Their also seems to be an issue in pvp with the way avoidance works. or not so much an issue as it is a problem. When other classes go into offensive stance it raises their weapon abilities. This makes avoidance not as handy. The only way we can then avoid taking dmg from every hit is to go defensive, which of course hurts our dps. Sadly, against a plate take (specifically berserker) us in defensive doesn't really help much against them in offensive. They loose some defense, but they take no mitigation hit, so they don't take all that less damage. When it really comes down to it though, almost every fight is determined by who has the most stuns or gets the first stun/silence off. And god help us against ranged rooter/fearers.They are going to have a hard time balancing pvp. (at 60 intelligent berserkers/rangers/assasins, will dominate).<div></div>

in response to poids, the problem with outward calm is it's a one shot deal on a long reuse. So after you remove the first stun they just stun you with a different ability :p<div></div>

In duels utility will almost always beat burst DPS, dunno how they will balance it on a PvP server though.</span></div>

if devastation fist will work in pvp i'm sure i'll enjoy it. otherwise i won't pvp at all.<div></div>
if you seriously think soe is going to let you death touch other players pvp....<div></div>
on the devastation fist note, conjurors can rune their pets pvp. yeah, i d fisted a conj pet tonight and got the ol "failed to do any damage" message. i was heartbroken. then the pet tore me to lil bits before i could even mash mend. i swear, their pets do like 42 quadrillion dps. tore thru outward calm like it was naythin.<div></div>
