Weight on armor

I'm level 14 atm.  Currently I have been picking the leather armor instead of cloth for the better mit numbers.  My weight is not close to going over the limit.  My question is does weight mean anything if it is not over the limit or does more weight you carry degrade your performance any (again if you are not over the weight limit).<div></div>

<div></div><p>The *only* thing weight does is make you walk slower if you go over it.  That's it.</p><p>It has no mitigation, avoidance or other performance degredation.</p>

Which can lead to some pretty non-sensical situations like being able to lug around 6 100-stone 28-slot bank boxes full of loot and not bat an eye all because of our very high strength.<div></div>
