Ok, started a gnome for the Monk life and I really like him.  I know he has probably lowest str stat starting out.  Am I gimping myself for later?  I know the thought that it doesnt matter at lower levels, all will equal out at end but he is so low on Str but his agility is in the clouds.   Any successful gnome monks out there?<div></div>

60 Gnome monk right here, prolly as successful as I can be right now. As far as stats and a Gnome goes it means little, you're hardly gimping yourself. The low Str means pretty little further down the road, since stats come en masse, anyway.<div></div>

<div></div>I have a lvl 24 gnome monk that is a riot to play.  People seem to think us little people can't be taken seriously when combat is involved.  Nothing like proving them wrong.  <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<div></div>The difference in your starting stats equates to the bonus from a single item later on down the line.  I played a gnome monk from launch day and am 60 now with zero issues.  I tank raids, etc fine.  Picking a race you will have fun with is the most important.  Some races get great utility skills as traits, but I'd say all races offer something useful and nothing is game-breaking.

If it makes you feel any better, I got a sillly little halfling beserker that makes people giggle.  Nothing like the fat little kid that comes up to your hip being the one that is protecting your group from giants and what not<div></div>

<div></div><p>Not a gnome monk but I am a Dwarf Monk which is also not one of the most commonly seen race / class combos in the game.  I have no problem tanking, DPS is great etc. etc. </p><p>I think someone already hit the nail on the head, pick the class / race combo you WANT and go with it.  :smileyhappy:</p>

<div></div>I'm also a gnome monk, and it works just fine. As said before, the starting stats don't matter much down the road... in fact, I never had any problems even in the very beginning. Gogogo gnome monks! :smileyhappy:

<div></div>Lvl 60 Halfling Monk here (although I get mistaken for a gnome all the time) and I have never felt gimped what so ever.  I wanted something that was very unique and you dont see too many halflings around period.  Im starting to think we are extinct on the grobb server.  I dont know the starting stats off the top of my head but I know gnomes and halflings get a nice starting agility which is just as vital as any starting stat for monks.

<div></div>i second the female dwarf monk...i love being a race that seems to be out of the loop for monkhood.
