Did they change the AQ2 kill requirements, or are they random or something? Websites like Ogaming say I should be killing snakes inside BB. However my quest tells me to kill Deafening Shriekers inside the Ruins of Varsoon. Only problem is that they're level 25 and comes in waves of two. And for some reason noone wants to go in the Ruins. Also they're Heroic. I can usually find normal versions of the monsters they tell me to kill, but not these bats. It's really frustrating.

maybe /feedback and /bug itI'm not sure if their intention is to make the AQ stuff group orriented or soloable. It shouldn't be TOO hard to get a group going though.

It's pretty hard to get a group at 21, and I couldn't imagine at 20. Anyone willing to go there wants to do the whole dungeon, so they don't seem to want anyone under 25. At least that's what I've run into so far. I haven't found a guild to join either, so getting a higher level person to help me out isn't likely.

What server are you on?Maybe check in your lvl range channel if there is anyone else doing the AQs you could team up with.

I'm on Lucan.

There doesn't seem to be many people on the server, or maybe they don't play good or low level characters. In Thunder Steppes I could only find about a half dozen people between 20 and 27. I've tried asking higher levels but I don't really expect them to stop what they're doing to help me finish a quest.

I'll get it done eventually, it's just pretty annoying the way it is. I probably won't be able to complete it until I'm about 24 unless I can talk a higher level player into going with me.

OK, I did my AQ2 quest today and this is just silly. Luckily for me, I managed to get a group of four (later five) together to attempt to do this quest. Everyone had various mobs in the same approximate areas, so that aspect of the quest worked out well. We all ranged from level 21 to level 24, with no healing. However, there was a HUGE difference between their quest mobs and mine! One of the characters in the group needed Skeletal Apprentices or something from Varsoon. Skeletal apprentices were outside the ruins and it was possible to pull them singly. Although they were orange (I forgot to check if they were heroic or not, but I think they were) it was possible for the group of us to take them out. They were not quick kills as the skeletons were essentially nickled-and-dimed to death, but they were doable. Our poor tank was usually in the high red/low orange range when we were done, but we rested up between fights and all went as well as could be expected. The bats, however, were inside the ruins, and came in pairs. While our group was capable of ganging up on a single orange skeleton, there was no way on earth we could split a pair of orange bats. We couldn't even kite them (we had a bard) as the confines of the tunnels wouldn't allow it. We got past this quest for one reason and one reason only: the fellow who had needed the skeletons had a higher-level alt, whom he logged in, ran to Varsoon, joined up with our group, and (for all practical purposes) soloed the dumb things. Now, granted we all made efforts to help him, but the bats were so much higher than I was that I'm not sure I was doing anything but fanning them with my bo staff. If it had not been for that, I would have had to grind 3-5 levels, and then try again. What were the developers thinking? This sounds like a sarcastic question, I know, but I don't mean it to be. For AQ1, I was given creatures to hunt in Antonica, that were appropriate for my level. For AQ2, there were a total of three sets of mobs to kill - two of which (excluding the bats!) were in Antonica, and appropriate for my level. Now that I have turned in AQ2 and have been given AQ3, the monsters I have been given to kill are in Antonica, and while they are an eensy bit high (I dinged to level 22 while I was working on the quests, and they are supposed to be level 24) I still consider them appropriate for my level, and they should be manageable by a typical group, without having to resort to alts. (We tried them today and wiped a couple of times, but that was more due to geography rather than the mobs being of a ridiculously high level, so we will try them again probably tomorrow.) Looking up some guides on the armor quests, it appears that I am in Antonica for AQ3 and I believe for AQ4. Not until AQ5 does the quest again venture back into Thundering Steppes, and then into some of the easier areas for some of the easier mobs. Same basic thing with AQ6. Each and every armor quest seems to require me to go to places, and to hunt mobs, which are appropriate for my level. It is even possible to see the progression of the quests, with each subsequent quest having slightly harder mobs than the quest that came before it. Except for the bats in AQ2! Why is this? This is not something that happened randomly. Dangerous meetings were attended, and many a photocopied image was captured for eternity, in order to make this change to this quest. What was the thought process? Why bats in AQ2? Wouldn't the bats have been more appropriate for AQ6? (And I hope if they do this that they do NOT move them until I am done with the series, I would be royally p*ssed if the quest were changed while I was in the middle of them and I had to go back and do those wretched things twice.) Any thoughts on this? The bats in the middle of AQ2 are inappropriate and I am sure must be forming a major stumbling block to many monks. This needs to be changed! Totally agree. I am currently up to the bats in AQ2. Currently I have to go all out on 1, then FD then rinse repeat. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

The AQ quests do seem to be out of whack, not just for monks either. But I discovered something that might possibly help you while trying to help a friend do his AQs.

I was helping a friend do his priest AQ's in Fallen Gate for AQ2. I brought out my alt assassin to help since she was in the right level range. Duoing, we could do some of it, but not all. We did find a few others to group with, but no tank, so my assassin was the tank for the group and it was tough. Finally, in frustration, I brought in my level 54 character to clear the unneeded critters in our path so there would be no add issue and we discovered something interesting. I was not in the group, just clearing the rooms of extras. At one point the priest accidentally agroed monsters and began fighting them. I pulled them off before he died and killed them, and he still got credit for both the kill and the quest. We experimented a bit and as long as he started the fight (pulled) and did some damage before I stepped in, he got credit. He got more experience for doing more damage as well so I would do enough to hold agro and no more.

So worst case scenario: If you have a high level friend who can take the hits and keep agro who is willing to help, bring them with you, not in group. You pull and damage the mob, friend pulls them off you and helps you finish them. Hate to play that way, but it will work if nothing else will. Also, if that friend is a high level healer, they can just keep the tank healed and that should allow you to finish.

Of course if there is room in the group, they could just mentor down, fill out the group, and that should do the trick .

Hope this helps.

Quijana

Lost Coast Privateers, Nektulos

Message Edited by Jessyme on 12-28-2005 04:44 PM

Well, I finally made it to level 20 and started the aq's. I have to agree that it seems a bit crazy to have the Shriekers in this part of the quest.

Well, I have finally completed all six quests and obtained my gi. I have restarted the quests with my conjurer alt, only to discover that, yes indeed, the bats are back. I wish to reiterate my previous request - lose the blasted bats! Or at least move them to AQ5 or AQ6. I shouldn't have to grind for five levels in order to be able to do a quest which is otherwise designed to take my character from level 20-ish to level 25-ish.
