healers are tough

Healers are easy, just get them down a bit and then don't give them a chance to heal. They always wait 'til they get low to use their heals. Once they're below 50% just use your big hits and knockdown/stun abilities to finish them off.

No cure all for this but heres my tidbit for healers. Of coarse its not as simple as monkey see monkey do, and there are probably infinite ways to go about this, but this is a decent methodology to keep in mind. Start off chaining the stuns to get a jump start while squeezing other CAs between them for dps... theyll go through some heals but they wont be hitting you much at this point. Dont forget taunts interupt and to use your will of sky and mend to cure stuns or other ailments. Youll fight more defensively for a few seconds, swap stances back and forth if you like and use defensive buffs... Next time your stun timers are back up save them till the healer is low and are getting ready to start chain healing themselves again.. chain the stuns again. wah-lah.. dead healer. Yah I got waxed by a healer before... but that was the first time to fight one, and last time to die by one... Ive seen them fall quite quickly too :smileywink:

Ironfist

Lvl 53 Monk

Permafrost

yup thats pretty much the way to do it i usually go through 1 round of specials then kinda just sit but and wear down their reactives/wards/regens then goto town chain stunning as i go. one of the hardest healers to fight is a warden using sand storm that spell is pretty nasty vs melee.

I find paladins the hardest class to duel, still win everytime, but its an anooyingly long fight. Conjurors are tough too, if I dont take em down with my first round of attacks the pet usually gets me.

with an illusionist basically use will of the sky and then chain stun them till they are dead. their pets stifle or stun now though so u gotta drop the illusionist pretty quick.

also, use your defensive stance against enchanters. They do a lot of mental damage, the resistance really helps a lot.

Most healers are HARD if they are competent with their class. Fortunately, many priests are a lazy bunch and don't watch their own health. Monks are very good PvPers. The only classes i have trouble with are Priests who knows to chain heal until my pwr is out. The only scout class i have trouble with are Rangers. They are probably the deadliest class ATM.

I play a templar and a monk. Here's my PoV. On my templar I usually will hold my reactives until absolutely needed. I'll usually lead off with one reactive though just to see how the fight starts. Often I lead off with my stun. I have one debuff that has a 20% chance of healing me when you hit me. What kicks my butt is the auto attack damage of fighters. I once almost beat a zerker 3 levels higher than me but we both went oop and his auto attack got me.

From a monks PoV, watch for the to actually be casting to use your stuns. Don't just chain them. Space them out a bit to get the most efficient use of them. This goes for any caster really. Don't forget about taunts interrupting. Experiment with your stances to determine which works best agains who. Illusionists as said above do mental damage so defense there. Not sure who else does mental. Other fighters I tend for defense or spider's stance.

Some of my spilled thoughts.

In general stay as close to your oponent as possible and generally start off with Arctic Talon, instant cast stun. If fighting a class with melee combat arts dont stun while using tsunami.

Summoners, use devastation first on Pet for the WOW effect. I dont have to much trouble with Summoners. If you see a conj stoneskin their pet go for the jugular on the summoner. Only lose to necros that fear me out of the ring.

Other Mage classes. No problems here. Use Will of the sky and bulk up on cure potions.

Scouts... Get some Totem of the butterfly to see stealth. Rangers are tough for me. I do not win much. Assassins are tough fight. All others not to bad.

Healers. Use your auto attack damage for the most part. If a fury Porcupines just back off for 30 sec. Watch for this. Also Inquisitors I have better success just auto attacking with ranged weapon till in that area of HP where you can take em down all the way. With a healer your not fighting their health bar. Your fighting their power bar.

just my $.02

Tip for Monks: Never duel a Defiler who knows what he's doing.

I'm a Defiler and evety monk I've duelled i have beaten with full health. All we have to do is lay on DoTs and ward. Maybe throw in a couple of debuffs or Nukes now and again.

EDIT

Also, If my ward is broken, I always ward again and heal back to full health. That way, I'm pretty much unstoppable when the monk is down to a quarter health.

I find Bruisers much harder than monks. I usually win but it's close. I only have 1/2 health left most of the time with Bruisers.

Message Edited by Deadly Nightshadow on 12-29-2005 06:37 AM
