<DIV>Found myself in a group in Poet's Palace where the Paladin MT had gone LD. After waiting awhile we chose to give Alyzor ( The cyclops mob ) a try with myself ( 60 monk ) tanking it. We had a Fury and Mystic as healers. Buffed up I was over 6.5khp and 2.5k+ mitigation with 64% avoidance. I have T6 legendary in all slots but arms and head ( those are some decent DoF drops ) I was in Coiling Serpent Adept 3 stance and this mob ate me alive. He was a 63 triple up heroic and he hit me so hard and so often the healers could not keep me up. They did a good job of keeping me up as long as they did. I used Tsunami, Face of the Mountain but as soon as they ran out the damage began to rain down again.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I know that when facing higher level mobs your avoidance gets tossed out the window but I had no idea it was that bad. Are we just not designed to tank these types of mobs? Should we stick to yellows and below or what? Any insight would be appreciated because I would like to know if I was doing something wrong, or is it just the nature of our class.....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ohanzee Darkchylde</DIV> <DIV>Forgotten Monk</DIV> <DIV>Permafrost</DIV>

<div></div>Yeah, avoidance-based tanks work a lot more efficient when taking down mobs under your level.  While plate tanks can tank the exact same mobs with 1 healer, it would take more for us. What kind of spec are you? Which attribute points have you chosen?  This could effect your tanking ability.  I am currently going all STR because i doubt i'd be tanking anytime soon. On a side note:  Has anyone seen the Skullcap of Precision drop lately?  Early on, i went through poets with my gf's templar and got a couple (of course, no drop, so i got shafted).  Now that i am going in there with the monk, i haven't seen one drop in a TON of runs through there.  Too much scout / shaman crap. <div></div><p>Message Edited by Lintrix on <span class=date_text>12-11-2005</span> <span class=time_text>03:17 PM</span>

I go to pp on pretty much daily basis and I'm usually the tank. We always have two healers, usually templar/fury and defiler/mystic. Normally we have no problems. Keeper of the Silence is little hard yeah but do it just fine and many times better than other tanks I've went with. Though I did go all AGI and I do use potions either sta/str or agi and sometimes physical mit potions and agi food. I think the key here is to have good dps, like assassin, ranger, warlock, wizard etc in your group so the mobs go down quick. And also have Templar/Inquisitor and Defiler/Mystic in the group and you should have no problems. Though I did do it with pretty much every healer class combo. But if dps is lacking, the fight will be hard. Oh and for a while now we have been doing it with just 5 people. The only problem I've been noticing is the taunt resists which are really starting to upset me. So I usually use rescue for them when it's up at start of the fight. <div></div>

I have done poets palace a few times now as MT. Past 2 times with just 1 healer, a 60 Templar. My unbuffed stats are (roughly can't quite remember) str 230, agil 180, sta 190, wis 160. Using full scaled armour and vanadium jewelry. I usually have a 60 ranger and/or 60 swashbuckler or 58 swashbuckler. Sometimes we have a full group with high level mages as well. Had no real problems in there, sometimes we get a close fight, the hardest ones are the Keeper of Silence and the creature of beauty (she is a brawler type mob). The cyclops does have a few annoying attacks that can catch you by surprise sometimes. As long as everyone is paying attention it shouldn't cause to many problems. When I attack the cyclops I usually use the following: Both taunts, Lunging Cobra, Flying Dragon followed by Sweeping Crane and Storming Palm/Lunging Mongoose combo (you can also use Artic Talon after Storming Palm for the stun). Then depending on how the fight is going either Stalking Leopard followed by Skin Like Mountain or if its going badly, Tsunami then Skin Like Mountain. Throw in Infuriating Tranqiulity whenever it is ready and you should be fine. <div></div>

<DIV>" What kind of spec are you? Which attribute points have you chosen? "</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Selected every Agility increase I could get with increases to HP thrown in. Buffed up my stats were something like 380 str, 215 agi, 198 sta ( won't even post my int ) and 120 wis. We only tried once, and gave up. I guess I could have run into a mob that got a lucky streak of attacks. Perhaps next time I might fare better, or I might get my [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] handed to me again.</DIV>

Our group makeup was 60 monk, 60 Warlock, 60 Fury, 57 Mystic and 56 Ranger ( The 60 Paladin was LD )

The 56 ranger wont be able to hit the mobs so no point of him coming. Make sure the fury heals instead of nukes <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> And yeah should be fine. Maybe you just got really unlucky, I dunno. Mystic wards alone should have been almost 4k... Make sure to stun the mob as often as you can and don't give up after one try <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> You might have been short on dps since you only had warlock doing any significant dmg. Melee really need to be 60 for pp and mages 58. Otherwise they are there just for the ride. Healers can be lower. Anyway, try it again, I'm sure you'll do fine. The real challenge is the keeper of silence and the beaty mob. <div></div>

<DIV>I'm usually tanking poets also. We managed to wipe once on the Keeper of the Silence after it was upped. Other than that just get cleric/druid or shammy/druid or something like that. Its alrdy easy with 2 healers and some hard dps for last spots. I'm usually in the mixed stance with a miti potion (+240) and dont go to defensive until the keeper.  My selfbuffed stats ar roughly about 300str 200agi/sta and wis is a bit lower about 180 if i remember correctly.</DIV>

I have solo healed for poets runs with 3 different monk tanks using my 60 mystic.  So yes, they can tank the instance quite well. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

i tank poets just fine like they said the keeper is alil difficult but other than that it goes pretty smooth. the key to that place is having alot of dps because the mobs there hit really hard its usually tough to fight a prolonged fight against them. ps remember outward calm and tsunami can help tons. <div></div>

<P>Same here, I constantly MT in there with only one healer many times, no problems on any mobs. Keeper is a bit tough once in awhile and that beauty chic, but absolutely no problems with that cyclops guy, he is one of the more easier ones. </P> <P>I have master I of boulder stance  +1700 something to Mitigation and I have Adept III of Skin like mountain +370 to mit or something.......but its funny I rarely seem to use them.  I think I would lose aggro pretty fast especially if I used the Boulder stance.   This CA needs to be looked at I think because there is no reason to have a 30 second duration on a CA like that which stuns and stifles you completely, its not like you would ever be able to hold aggro that long stunned lol.  I lose aggro in a matter of seconds when getting stunned fighting mobs like Cazel and what not.   </P> <P>Lao,</P> <p>Message Edited by LaoShin on <span class=date_text>12-12-2005</span> <span class=time_text>08:14 PM</span>

As a 60 Bruiser with decent gear I trio this zone with a ranger and a fury NP, Keeper is some issues. But when done properly its cake.

<DIV>Colossal,  Trio is very impressive.  I have to say I havent tried that yet.  Though the problem is that some of the loot is no drop meaning having only 3 people, there is a greater chance the loot goes to waste <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>Most of the people I go in w/ had better than that fabled no-trade gear that drops in there.<BR>Did I mention that... everytime I did it trio the fury & ranger were trashed beyond belief?<BR></DIV>

<DIV>i do this zone daily, myself tanking (60 bruiser very well equiped though) and i either trio with a Coecer and Brigand or full group em with coercer, templar, assasin and two other random classes, never a problem on any mobs in there (even when the healer isnt present)</DIV>

Yeah, I've Trio'd this zone without a healer as well.  Not very well equipped but decent.<BR>Bruiser, Necromancer, Coercer.

I have tanked PP a number of times now. I just make sure to have 2 healers and the rest dps. I use defensive stance the whole way. I use Tsuami for the hard encounters.  But that mob does stun alot, good to tag him with rescue also to make sure you keep agro while your stunned.

<P>I can always tank named mobs except keeper with one healer in pp.</P> <P>If there are 2 healer in grp, monk can tank all mobs without problem </P>

The other day i was in a Poets Palace group and did ok until Keeper of Silence and he repeated whipped my butt.  I had only a 54 templar in group for heals but im not blaming the templar he's a great healer, maybe i need better gear or better defensive satnce since mines adept 1

<P><EM>The named cyclops and the eye can be a bit of a hassle at first, due to the big hits and our low mitigation compared to the canned meat fighters.  But once you get the feel for the attacks and what skill progression to use, it becomes much easier.</EM></P> <P><EM>Done it with 5 in a group:</EM></P> <P><EM>Monk (60), Ranger (56), Warden (53), Necro (60), and pally (53)</EM></P> <P><EM>With Skin Like Mountain Master I and Boulder Stance Adept III, I was able to mitigate like a plate tank for a short period of time.</EM></P> <P><EM>I'd start the fight with my STR hex doll to slow the mob's attacks down a bit, hit Outward Calm + Tsunami and stay in my offensive stance to build agro solo for about 10-12seconds.  At that point the rest of my guild fam would engage, I'd mash my defensive stance, skin like mountain and boulder stance and taunt whenever they refreshed.</EM></P> <P><EM>When my mitigation CA's were expired, I'd procede with my big hitters and attempt to perma-stun the named for as long as possible, finishing with my stifle - praying it would at least stick for a sec or two!  Then use my mitigation CA's whenever they refreshed (Skin Like Mountain is on a 30second timer which is pretty nice - 432 mitigation every 30sec is not bad) :smileyhappy:</EM></P> <P><EM>Good Luck!</EM></P>

<P>Did it last night with me, 60 defiler, 60 wizard and a 60 dirge.</P> <P>Keeper took two tries though, because the first pull I went before everyone was done buffing! :smileyindifferent:</P> <P>Regardless, PP is definately tankable as a monk/bruiser tank every single mob.  Just use all the skills available to you and don't give up <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>
