I had the same issue at your level with this mob. The short of it is that the mob is underconned, similar to the pit champion in Splitpaw. I kept fighting it down to 10% or so when it would use a special and [Removed for Content] me. I ended up beating it by using a mit potion and two of the highest level bear claw items in addition to my own arts. The dots from the two bear claws and the extra mitigation were enough to skew the fight in my favor. I ended up beating him with about 20% health left rather than losing with him at 5-15% health as had been happening.

Thanks bro i will give the bear claws a try and hopefully i will beat him. This guys is definetly underconned big time. Thank you so much again i was getting really frustrated lol. Have you completed all of the other Truth quest yet and if so how tuff is the instance to get the Leggins of Enlightened Lore?

Thanks again,

Xane

51 monk

Unrest

Go in defensive stance then pull with Strength hex doll and follow up with Stamina one. Change stance to either comb or offensive stance and beat it down.

Yeah, forgot about hex dolls - they would help too. The instance is not too bad in truth, but the drop is rare. I was lucky to get the pants on my first trip in, and I have not seen a master drop since out of 8 or so trips total since then. Our standard group was a 56+ monk (me) tanking, a 55+ warlock, a 55+ conjurer, a 52+ templar, and a 48+ mystic. These days, it is 60 monk (me), 59 warlock, 55 templar, 58 conjurer as the core with the now 50 mystic and maybe another random guildmate popping in occasion. Our core group breezes through it. The whole deal with the instance is answering the sphinx's riddles. Every 25% of health lost causes him to become unattackable and ask you a question. If you answer correctly, he remains at the same health level and starts attacking again until you get him down 25% more, where the process repaets until you kill him after he has asked you a question at 25% health remaining. If you answer incorrectly, he summons a second encounter full of adds, is healed to full health, and attacks. So, depending on how well you answer the qeustions, it can be a drawn out affair or very quick and easy. It is possible to fight him from 100% health 4 times and have to deal with a lot of annoying adds in seperate encounters depending on your answers.
Message Edited by Bladewind on 12-12-2005 10:53 AM

I think stuff will be orange to you at 56, so you are ok there. If you have a full group of low 50s people, you should be fine, or a 3-4 person group of mid 50's. You fight the sphinx on a little cliff above the water, and he has a major knockback attack. The first time I did it, my healer got launched into the ocean The rest of us jumped down and finished the encounter on the water surface. I have done it a few times since then where we all kept our backs to the cliff face and no one was punted. If you are aware of that, the encouter is pretty straight-forward.
