View Full Version : ill equipped
<DIV>I am a lvl 19 Brawler a yellow away from hitting monk. The path to this point has been great, being a Rotonga coming from Freeport. I do feel that I am not near as well equipped as I should be since my young days were spent betraying as opposed to questing for gear. Now that I am soon to hit monk status and begin AQ's I am worried my lack of preperation will be my undoing. Especially since I solo 80% of the time, and so if possible I will be running the AQ unassisted. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What I would like out of this post is to give all information regarding my current gear and stats, and to receive feedback on which items I need to look at replacing, either through drops (and where those drops occur) or quests that I may have overlooked that would properly equipment for the "journey for monk gear" I am about to partake in.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Current Gear:</DIV> <DIV>Smelly Pirate's Cowl - 63 Mitigation -</DIV> <DIV>Dreadnaught Chest Wraps - 56 Mitigation - +1 AGI, +3 STR, +45 vs Heat, +15 vs Cold</DIV> <DIV>Daniella's Bearhide Mantle - 42 Mitigation - +1 WIS, +30 vs Cold, +15 vs Heat</DIV> <DIV>Thin Banded Bracer - 42 Mitigation - +1 STR, +4 Health, +4 Power</DIV> <DIV>Sturdy Leather Gloves - 45 Mitigation - +15 vs all</DIV> <DIV>Brightly Dyed Sash - 00 Mitigation - +2 Health, +1 power</DIV> <DIV>Great Bearhide Leggings - 45 mitigation - +1 INT, +2 STR</DIV> <DIV>Woven Cordovan Boots - 38 Mitigation -</DIV> <DIV>Amulet of the Prime Healer - +1INT, +2 STA, +2 STR, +9 Health, +6 Power</DIV> <DIV>Commandant's Ring of Power - +4 STR, +3 AGI</DIV> <DIV>Freeport City Ring - +5 Health, +1 STA, +5 Power</DIV> <DIV>Dreak's Finely Crafted Bracelet - +1 WIS, +5 Health</DIV> <DIV>Missing Wrist </DIV> <DIV>Missing Ear</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Weild:</DIV> <DIV>Conditioned Ash Fighting Baton - +3 AGI, +2 STR, +8 Health, +9 Power</DIV> <DIV> - Rating = 10.4 Speed = 1.5 Sec</DIV> <DIV>Shaped Forged Iron Knuckles - +4 Health, +6 Power</DIV> <DIV> - Rating = 10.4 Speed = 1.7 Sec</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Stats:</DIV> <DIV>Health = 570 Attack = 382</DIV> <DIV>Power = 416 Mitigation = 331</DIV> <DIV> Avoidance = 52.5%</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>STR = 55 INT = 27</DIV> <DIV>AGI = 58 WIS = 22</DIV> <DIV>STA = 23</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>***These stats are with Call to Arms, Offense Stance, and Martial Focus on and all at App II</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I really appreciate any comments/help especiall for drop locations and quest suggestions to obtain better gear.</DIV> <DIV>I have really had no trouble killing lvl 20's solo (bears and wolves outside Windstalker village - but most gear I have had for awhile so I know I can't possibly be optimally equipped, and I do have the two missing main slots.)</DIV><p>Message Edited by Jayque on <span class=date_text>12-09-2005</span> <span class=time_text>08:36 AM</span>

Well at twenty you can start your Armor Quests. <div></div>
<DIV>I appreciate your response, and I do plan on immediately starting the AQ's upon dinging 20. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As stated in my original post, the big fear I have is that I will be under equiped to run through the AQ and that I will have to spend four to five levels under equipped before I can finish them all. I am looking for drops/quest rewards to get me through the AQ and to fill the voids in other spots (the missing ear and wrist pieces)</DIV>

I wouldn't worry about it too much. My 29 monk is wearing gear that is fairly worn out for him. I have gear a weapons waiting in the bank for L30 but aside from getting hit hard sometimes my gear still lets me do my job.I think you will be more then ok till you finish your AQ. <div></div>

You get a nice bo staff for becoming a monk, which may be better than what you have now. Try and fill all your slots with something. Anything will do. There are a lot of decent quests in the areas immediately around the qeynos gates. Some provide some decent items for your level. There are some in the scarecrow fields if I recall. Near the lighthouse there is a poet who gives a nice item. Basically, just talk to everyone you can, and do as many quests as possible. Check on the AQ mobs, and try and get in a group if you can for the killing, or wait until you can handle them solo. Soloing the AQ stuff may mean you will have to wait a few levels. Your current gear won't be the death of you just yet. Replace it with better as it comes along, but don't worry too much about it. <div></div>

At L28 my Monk was unable to solo the Fiend Zombies in SH for the III (3rd) part of your AQ. They were Heroic ^^^ singles or Heroic ^^ doubles. Nothing a single healer couldn't help you with but by the time you will be able to solo it you would be able to wear better armor (Emerald Hide or T4 Crafted).<div></div>

<P>Jayque,</P> <P>I just finished my last AQ today, as a lvl 26 monk. Little off topic from your question, but just wanted to give you some FYI about our AQ. It starts with Selwyn in South Qeynos. I had to solo a lot of the content for my AQ's, but some of them were just impossible at that level to do so. Not sure if you've done AQ's with other toons or not, but one of the best things you can do is what I had to do - which was announcing in /ooc that I was working on AQ1,2,3, etc. and looking for others that were as well.</P> <P>Might try that in lvl 20-29 chat too. I was lucky enough to find a couple that were also working on AQ's and able to fill out enough of a group for some of the AQ's with people just plain LFG for xp and such. Many of the AQ's for a monk are killing multiple number of trash or solo type mobs that you can do on your own. If you are fortunate enuff to have a scout friend, take advantage of it and see if one will track for you - makes it a bit faster for sure.</P> <P>Heads up - stupidly enuff, the last AQ took me forever. Not because of Shadowdash (named griffon which was easy to do with a thrown together group), but rather for the very sparse Highland Huntresses that took me fooooorever to find 10 of em. I hope you are more fortunate than I finding those. If you need any specifics in finding them, or any help with any of the other AQ's, gimme a shout and I'll do whatever I can to help. If you by chance happend to play on Grobb, I'll even group up with ya to help.....</P>
<P>Thanks everyone for your responses. </P> <P><STRONG>9thArch</STRONG>, thanks very much for the insight and offer. Unfortunately I am on Oasis, but the gesture is appreciated nonetheless.</P>
