Weapon selection question

I have read several 1h vs. 2h posts but I still have one question regarding weapon selection.  How do you compair the weapons damage ratios.  For example, I have a couple of 1hb with ratios around 10 and a 2hb with a ratio of 18.  Which way should I go for the better DPS?  <div></div>

<div></div>For dual wield, you simply add the ratios of each weapon together. Equivilent 2hb and dw weapon combos should now have the dw combo having a higher damage rating than the 2hb. This does not mean that the dw is hands down better though. 2hb will always have it's advantages, and so will dw. For dps and agro generation, dw generally can't be beat. The recent changes to dw made it a viable tanking and dps option compared to what it was like before. 2hb has less ripostes (because you're swinging one weapon more slowly), and does more damage when you riposte. I find 2hb works best against high con mobs as well, because you miss a lot, and 2hb generally has bigger hits when you do connect. You may think that a lot of little hits will add up to the same as your few big hits, but from the parses I've done, 2hb has an edge over dw in this regard. Of course this will also depend on the delay of your 2hb and DW. DW is not always faster. I keep dw and 2hb in my bags and change em out depending on the situation. I think if I were to do it all over again, I would go with a nice big slow 2hb like a great mace or royal great flail, and a fast dw weapon like fist wraps for 1.6 delay. I asked this wrong I think but maybe you interpreted what I said right.  I didn't mean Ratio but "Damage Rating".  The example in my case is both of my 1h are Damage Rating of 10.4 and my 2h is a Damage Rating of 18.  Not thinking about stats and such, which is the one to use for DPS? I would assume that since the two 1h add up to damage rating of 20 while the 2h is only 18 that going with the two 1h weapons is the best for DPS. I am not trying to pick going always one way or the other but I am just trying to get my head wrapped around what these numbers mean when compairing 1h vs. 2h for DPS. <div></div>

I understood what you were asking. Let me be more direct this time. Here's a made up example. Say I have a pair of DW weapons, each with a DR of 20, and a 2hb with a DR of 35. Similar stat load out. both legendary, same tier. The DW will have 40 DR total, and the 2hb will have 35. If you were to parse both weapons against the same mob, you'd see the DW come out on top mostly. (it may be the opposite for high orange mobs) As a rule of thumb, DW is the way to go for DPS. If you are in possesion of the weapons, pay attention to your attack rating. That should be a good indication of your dps potential. <div></div>
