I think the conclusion was that it's basically a toss up. Like it should be. Each has it's slight advantages and disadvantages. check this out: http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=6&message.id=23783

Not even close. At t6, fabled weapons create a huge disparity between dual weild and 2hb. 2x 48 ratio weapons far out preform a single 78 ratio 2hander. Atm, procs aside raw dps from 2 legendary dual weilders out does the dps from a fabled 2 hander. If u need a quick dps boost, get the 2 hander, if you want a dps boost thats gonna last till the next expansion, get 2 dual weilders

I'm not the most experienced monk, being only level 43. But 2hb still has a huge advantage imo. In a CT group fighting yellows the other day the enchanter was parsing my group. Well with chanter haste, quiet purity adept 1, and everburning flame master 2 running I was outdamaging the wizard and conjuror in my group even while tanking in defensive stance. This was with a cedar bo staff.

with dw'r dmg increased and riposte decrease dw'r def have an advantage now over 2h's. also remember dragon stance is one of our best agro spells dw'in gives u an extra melee hit therefore doubling ur threat via dragon stance

The changes to dual wield were to bring it inline with 2hb, not to exceed it. And even then, the very nature of dual wielding means you will end up getting reposted a lot more often than 2hb. 2 weapons as opposed to 1 are being swung each round. Personally, I think a high damage 2hb is more effective on high con mobs than dual wield, because you uend up missing high con mobs a lot. So when you do connect, you want them to feel it. RGF for the win! When tanking with 2hb I end up taking less damage compared to dw. But when tanking with DW I find agro control much easier. I can peel a lot faster if I need to. I'd encourage every monk to get a 2hb and a pair of dw and play around with them. It's always better to have more tricks up your sleeve than to try and find the one ultimate solution, cause that most likely doesn't exist.

I've always dual wielded just because I like the style. Every choice I make as far as what class to play and what weapons to use have been for style. I will, however, get a bo staff made for tanking heavy hitters. I took Dragon Advance Master 2 so holding aggro shouldn't be much less easy with a 2h over dw. I'll just actually have to taunt.

I've tanked, off-tanked, DPS'd and solo'd 50-58 with a 2-hander (the imbued ironwood bo) - and have been very pleased.

However, with that being said, I just equipped myself with a pair of imbued ironwood quarterstaves this morning - to solo a bit in PoF and I must say: Wow.

I did notice I was taking a tad bit more damage, most likely due to the increased riposte, but it was very evident that I was mowing through the mobs much faster. When bouncing back and forth from the bo and the staves, my attack rating was about 2pts higher with the staves than with the bo, most likely due to the attack ratings of the weapons.

Could've been just me, but I also felt I was a proc'ing machine. Proc's were firing off so much, that I actually felt like a finger-wiggler. Maybe I was just lucky. /shrug

I'll test the feel of tanking DW tonite if my guild fam and I tackle a couple instances - should my wife feel like logging on tonite. She's a pally, you see - and my hero. :smileywink:

Kaio let me know the conclusion to your testing. I have a 60 woodworker in my guild, and two nights ago he came to me asking if I decided what I wanted. I went with the Quarterstaves after much debate after careful consideration. So would like to know if harvesting the rare to make the ironwood bo would be worth it or not.

Well at least on Permafrost Ironwood is dirt cheap right now so I would also recommend having both setups as they both come in handy.. I couldnt even sell one off my vendor for 40g last week when they used to go over a plat. I keep the 2h ironwood bo in my pack and most commonly use my ironwood quaterstaffs. Generally Im dual when tanking for aggro unless its a really tough mob. DPS I have still been sticking to the 2h but like it seems everyone is these days I'm not totally convinved that is the way to go. If the mob is green or blue Im dualing no matter what my role is.

Ironfist

Lvl 53 Monk

Permafrost

Well on my server they range from 1-2pp...and since I'm not exactly rich, it's an either one or the other sorta thing.

I have both, an Imbued Ironwood 2H Bo and DW imbued ironwood Quarter staves. Seat of the pants. when not tanking or tanking/soloing low con mobs, the DWs outdamage the Bo. I plan on using the Bo when tanking high cons for the reduced riposetes.

for example, when I havest, I get agroed by green solos all the time, with the DWs they die noticibly faster. Being green, they seldom hit me and hardly ever block or evade my attacks.
