Warlock + Monk duo Any insights on this duo? <div></div>

Since I play both I guess I can answer this question. I don't see if being that effective. The Warlocks game is AoE and Monks tend to work single targets better. If the Monk can hold aggro on multi-mobs long enough for the Warlock to AoE them down it "could" work but I don't see a Monk holding aggro on all the mobs while the Warlock AoE Nukes like a madman. Warlocks single target damage isn't what it once was. Wizard might be a better choice but I've always been a big fank of the Tank/Healer duo myself. Or Warlock/Zerk. <div></div>

Mind if I pick your brain for a sec or two Junaru? Any sort of rooting technique that can be applied?  And holding agro on a single target with a Warlock when they're doing all out castblaster is a challenege I've come to find. How are the Warlock's DoTs (they have some, right?) Sorry for some dumb questions, I mostly solo... <div></div>

<DIV>As already said, probably not the best duo. Fighting properly here's going to require some good playing on the part of the warlock too. Having said that I was duo'ing with a warlock last night and didn't have any problems even against groups.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Here's my suggestions from the Monk side:</DIV> <DIV>Use your shocking hand right before your swooping eagle to score two hits and more hate on the whole enemy group,</DIV> <DIV>use this combo and your group taunt right at the outset of the fight. Fire of HO's and make sure you're the one to complete them, the damage may not scale as good as it should, but they generate hate, and for the whole enemy encounter.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Of course there's also the obvious stuff like be sure you're using Dragon Advance, put your Martial Discipline on the warlock and make sure she stands near you. And don't overlook Intercede, it can protect her from damage and build some hate for you when you fire it off.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>From the warlock side: (I can't get into specific skills here)</DIV> <DIV>Be sure she's giving you a small head start to get that group taunt and shocked up group attack off before she starts.</DIV> <DIV>Instead of chain casting skills, suggest she just take a small pause between each, just one or 2 seconds can make a world of difference to let you get a few hits in and get a Dragon advance proc off.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hope it helps!<BR>Mreower</DIV>

Sure does, thanks Rrawl. I ask because 4 or so nights ago was in a 4-some out in Lava with no healer and there was no strategy, it was just utter chaos.  Granted when I'm going to duo with her it won't even be the same, but it's good to hear some tips on how to proceed. <div></div>

<DIV>I've done this duo a few times.  It works, but you have to be very selective in what you fight.  Since you don't have a healer (other than your mend every couple minutes) you really can't fight heroics that are close to your level and you sure as heck don't want to fight casting mobs.  What we found worked best was to fight heroic encounters with a group of mobs that were about 4-5 levels below me.  The reason this worked well was since the mobs didn't have any up arrows none of which had that many hitpoints so the warlock was able to burn down the group fast.  By fighting a single target, the effectiveness of the warlock is diminished since more or less he/she is wasting a lot of power and really won't kill a single ^^^ target any faster than a group of 3 ^ targets.  It's just a matter of trial and error, but it does work.  Even though you have to fight significantly lower level mobs than yourself, you still get decent exp since only 2 people in group.</DIV>

My gf's main is a warlock, and I have duo'd with her from 1-56 <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  Although at times unorthadox, the combo is a great deal of fun.  A big part is gettigng a personal feel for each other.  She will have to do a lot of work learning when it is ok to nuke etc, but once you two ave a feeling for each other, it will run very smoothly.  Using your taunts as they cycle and keeping your hate proc up is key.  Tell her to keep a fixed target while you rotate from one to the next maintaining aggro, and watch her dots and aoes melt them down.  Also, the tarnscendant vision line (avoidance buff for others) really helps out as it makes you tank a bit better and also gives her a fighting chance to stay up in the event you lose aggro.  In short, it might start off a bit rocky, but becomes very efficient once she has a feeling for how long it takes you to have a firm grip on aggro.  My g's basic startegy is to apply debuffs while i am getting initial aggro, then letting loose with the big guns a bit into the encounter.  Their power buffs and procs also help you to do mroe damage and stay active during longer fights.
