View Full Version : Fall of the Phoenix (unless you're on a horse)

This has happened to me a few times and it's pretty annoying, but it appears that group members that are on mounts do not feign death when I trigger Fall of the Phoenix. This wouldn't be a big deal (and it may still not be), but single FD throws you off your horse, so I'd imagine group FD should act the same. This has happened to me 3 times now, and unfortunately one time it was a healer (I hate letting healers go). Now imagine if the whole group were on horses, this would render Fall of the Phoenix useless in that case. I haven't varified the case where the whole group is on a mount or when the monk that's casting FotP is on a mount, but I suspect the results will be the same.

Am I the only one that is bothered by the fact that my group members are biting the dust because they were on a mount? Any thoughts or contradictions to this observation?

I'm not high enough to find this out for myself, but I hope that you are either mistaken, or this is a temporary bug that will be addressed and fixed soon.

Party members on horses seems a LOT more common that it ever was in the past, and I can think of a few people that I always group with that never leave their horses unless they're in a zone that doesn't allow them.

This would be a major PITA, and render this skill mostly useless, at least to me and my groupmates.

Genoshen

The Legionnaires of Light

Blackburrow

am still a low lv monk but.. why not force them off there mounts before you start xp. Seems stupid to me to be on a mount fighting. That makes no sense at all.. IMHO.. the most ridiculos thing in game is seeing people fighting on horse back.. I dont get it

Hmmm very interesting. Think they should fix this soon, just hope they are aware of it. Cant believe all possibilities were not checked in Beta.

Whilst were on the same topic of FOTP, when a Monk casts this and everyone feigns. Does every person have the ability to fail feign or is it only checked on the Monks ability.

Last thing i would want is to successfully feign 3 or 4 of my members whilst one get the crap beaten out of him still.

Tiao

Yes, Armored horses are good for an additional crush/slash/pierce bonus, so some people opt to stay on their mounts.

As for FotP failing, I think it's a per player basis, i.e. 86% chance on each individual, not the group as a whole. From my experience, I've only had it fail on one at most (but maybe I'm lucky). Remember as the monk if you keep getting beat on, just stand up and do a single FD, it won't affect your group's FD.

I hate testing it after there are update notes Anyhow, I tested it and it threw me off my horse and it threw a group member off their horse. Nevermind.

It not only adds another dimension to combat (aesthetically anyway), but is very accurate historically. Battle has been waged on horse back for thousands of years and across innumerable civilizations. Warriors have brandished swords; duel wielding various weapons...axes, clubs, maces, etc all from the mount.

"Seems stupid to me to be on a mount fighting. That makes no sense at all.. Technically we're just bonking people. You can fancy it up with whatever terminology you want, but all we're doing is hitting people with sticks. :smileywink:

Actually, i find it pretty usefull if they are on horses... easy way to see right off who has fallen to the round! (off horse = good, on horse = splatt)

I think the fd chance on it is messed up tho, fails more than it works =(
