Hi,

I'm close to choosing a tradeskill on my Brawler who is to become a Monk at 20.

What would be a good tradeskilll class for a Monk?

Was thinking of providing my own armour but then thought we only use upto Light so that may not be the best choice, maybe go Weaponsmith?

I did have a look at the Brawler class guide and a Monk guide but they didn't have anythign regarding tradeskill's and a quick look gleaned nothing on Monk or Brawler forums.

Tradedskill forum wasn't much help either, so thought I'd ask yourselves, seeing as you play Monk's figured you'd know best.

(tailor makes light and very light) but part of it was also thinking of the revenue stream from the mages monks and shamans for armor, and everyone else for backpacks and hex dolls.. Trick is with tailor (and armorer) you will have to be a few levels ahead of your adventurer class with tailor to do a full set of armor, since the last pieces aren't given til late in the tier (x8 I believe) and imbuing very late in the tier... and if you are only a casual crafter there is a lot of casual crafting to do. Tailor isn't going as fast for me as sage is on one of my other alts.. at 31 (for example) I got a whopping 2 new recipies... whereas with sage I am getting a slew of them each level.. heck with sage at 27 I still am on the level 23/24 recipies working my way through making a pristine of each... Self supporting is fun though, and I intend to have tailor into t5 before I make it there on my monk, so I can provide -some- of my armor (if not all)..

Well, really you can make whatever you like =) Here's a list of some tradeskill classes monks do rely on though.

Tailors - Makes our armour

Weaponsmiths - Make Cestii, Cestus, Metallic weps

Woodworker - Make wooden weapons (bo staffs etc)

Alchemist - Make Monk skills

Jeweler - Jewelery!

Provisioner - Food!

Of the above, and while i am merely a provisioner, alchemist and prov are the least complicated at this point. Is really up to yourself tho, if your gonna spend countless hours in a dungeon it will have to be something you enjoy doing.

Thanks for the replies,

Think i'll go with Tailor for the armour, bags etc, plus my DE mage (on IoR still) may betray so that'll be handy if it goes down that way.

Tailors also make are ranged weapons.

If you wish to save the most money or being most self-sufficient for yourself then Tailor is the way to go. Make your own armor, ranged weapon, bags, soon quiver items.

If you're not an altoholic like me I'd say provisioner.

Really, any class is a good choice. If you are a young monk, you will find crafted upgrades can be rare. Since the market is so devoid of T2/T3 gear, you see a lot of price gouging. So, you can make your own gear/spells and bypass that (or put some up to net yourself a tidy profit).

It's pretty nice to be the maker of your own gear
