Okay... I didn't get screenies, and I'm sure it's not that big of a deal - but monks CAN tank Epic mobs!

I tanked my first Epic x2 mob last night! We had a single group consisting of a healer, pally, two scout classes and a wizard - all mid 30's, with me at level 37.

We consistently rinsed and repeated this about 10 times, and, on average, I managed to hold agro very well - save for a few times when the scouts dished out the heavy DPS. However, all in all, I learned very much and look forward to doing it again.

iv been tanking x4's since LU4.. and i still can and do. its all in the group, if you have a good group who understands the differences between mitigation and avoidance tanks, you can do it just fine. most people are set up for a plate tank though, and therefo when you throw a monk in -- it doesnt work. anyways, excellent work hopefully it spreads and then the guardians can whine when we are eventually considered.. *gasp* equal.

also a side note.. some epic x2's -- some of them arent ..'real'.. epics.

Message Edited by woode on 09-18-2005 03:38 PM

I definitely agree on having a good group who understands your role as a monk. The group was packed six-full of guildies, so that was a definite bonus. I did make the mistake of not staying grounded in one place - I kept wanted to run my stun/darting sparrow combo which had the scouts in a tiff trying to keep up. So I stopped doing it and just stayed rooted, focusing on my taunts.

I don't have alot of experience with epics, but will take your word for it that there are some "soft" x2 epics out there. We were hunting the linked orc epics in Zek. There were a group of four: three ^ x2 epic and one ^^^ x2 epic.

All in all it was a great experience and it really helped define my role as a contributer to the group. Thank you for your approval and congratulations. :smileyhappy:
