- Monks gain Tsunami, an ability that will allow the Monk to automatically riposte attacks from the front. Does that mean we cant be hit from the front at all?... curious how that skill works.

Sounds cool.. I dunno about the whole 'God' thing, tho.. I mean, it sounds overpowered if it did exactly what mentioned for any large lenth of time, so I'd assume it would be a short buff, or a % increase.. Regardless, sounds great.

In EQ1 we had an ability at level 57 or so that allowed you to riposte all front arc attacks for 10 seconds or so.. I think it was called Whirl Wind. Worked really well against lifetapping mobs, especially if you had 10 or so monks start the fight all taking turns using this.

sounds neat. i'm sure it'll be alot like disc furious was for wars in eq. not much of a duration and a lengthy re-use timer. priceless when you need to camp a priest or something tho. oh, and plz don't use the "g" word in relation to monks. nerf bats do bane dmg.

<strike>So, it sounds like we'll have a choice of 100% riposte, group FD, or a short-duration magic ward from the factional skills.</strike> Edited: I am wrong. It looks like we'll get all three

Message Edited by bonesbro on 09-01-2005 07:41 AM

Pretty sure that a dev said the skills aren't from factions.

Hmm. Now to spend the rest of the evening wading through the dev tracker

Whirlwind was the monk's most powerful skill if the monk had a super powerful 2hb like a Dathor's Great Hammer (72 Damage = about 3-400 per hit.) and if he used it in the right circumstances. Good against monsters who haven't been slowed yet by an enchanter or a shaman.

I like the look of this CA. I can definitely see it's usefulness.

By the way, don't think of Tsunami as an offensive tool... because it's not.

In T'narev, the Ashen Order's hideout there is an Epic x 2 encounter which consists of 1^^ Ashen Apprentice and 24vv Ashen Disciples. I figured, what a great way for me to solo exp, i'll just riposte all the 24vv ashen disciples.

Aggroed them, turned on Tsunami.

I could only riposte 6-7 of the attackers, and parried the rest. That is becase the way the mob coding is, made the entire encounter surround me... so only those in the front arc get riposted (about 120degree arc).

Then i had to FD because after 12seconds I was being beat on like the nerd in the sandbox.

Scrolled up to check. Woohoo! Each riposte did 25-64dmg.

Tsunami is basically your emergency "HELP! My tissue paper armor is being shredded by this raid mob, MT please take back aggro" button.

The riposte is purely flavour, in fact if the removed the riposte totally and only gave us parry from all sides for 12sec, the skill would remain in its current effectiveness.

That's my report. On a side note, i do wish our ward lasted 12 seconds also instead.
