Ok I have been asked a few times by people why the avoidance doesnt show on the avoidance buffs and even some monks and people like that who use it. so I am going to explaine how it works from what I have found. so here it is I will give two examples of it. Ok here is our robe wearing friend. His avoidance is at 50%, lets all say helo to our chanter guys : ) The enchanter will avoid 50% the attacks for his level and with our buff we will block 40% (realy more but 40 is easy) of the attacks that get through. This does not mean his avoidance is 90%. The formula for finding his avoidance is: (1 - current avoidance) * chance to block = new avoidance increase So his current avoidance is 50% or .5 and our chance to block is 40% or .4 (1 - .5) * .4 = .2 or realy 20% avoidance for him. in essence the enchanter has 70% avoidance now. Now here is another monk in the group. He has 80% avoidance right now. lets all kneel before him!!!!!! err sory so Mr Monkah I am going to give you my 40% avoidance buff so you can avoid even more, note he doesnt have 120% avoidane /smack (1 - . * .4 = .08 or 8% avoidance for him so in the end for mobs his level our monk has 88% avoidance instead of 80. This is only for mobs his level though. If the mob is say orange to our monk making his avoidance closer to 60% then the 40% avoidance is still constant. it would be (1 - .6) * .4 = .16 or 16% So in the end this buff will help anyone untill they are 100% avoidance for the mob they are fighting, however with the caps this will be impossible. Note: the true way may be (1 - current avoidance) * (1 - buff avoidance) = new avoidance increase but I have yet to parase it long enough nor do I realy care. I use the lower one simply because it will always result in lower avoidance. I do not want to say we are giving the 50% avoidance caster 75% avoidance from our buff but 70% because it results in a greater buffer zone for accuracy, they have atleast 70% avoidance : )

Our avoidance buff simply allows the target a specific % chance to use our avoidance roll if theirs fails. Since they aren't getting increased avoidance, but just an opportunity to utilize ours, it doesn't show up on their persona screen. If you turn on "other misses" or whatever in combat chat you'll see the line that reflects this buff is working.

From what I understand it works like this. When a mob tries to hit the person you have SS on it checks against their avoidance. If it fails, it checks against your % that's listed on your SS type buff. If it passes then it checks against your own avoidance to see if you avoid/deflect the attack for the defender.
