View Full Version : A few monky questions
<DIV>My monk is now level 38 and on the fast track to hitting 40 by the end of the weekend(lets hope!)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>A few monky questions that I was hoping to get answered here:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>WIsdom of the Zephyr and Silent Purity - Do they stack? I can get both on me at once, but I do not know if their effects stack.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When I hit 40, should I buy the rare armor? The Pristine imbued augmented stuff? I ask this only because the expansion is on the horizon and I am not sure if buying an expensive suit of armor for level 40-50 is worth forking out the cash. Should I jus get the Augmented stuff and imbue it as I go along?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have found some of the rare cloth for the tier 4 hex dolls. Which stat should I get? If the combat changes weren't turning us into a tank I'd get strength. Should I know get agility? Or should I get stamina hex dolls? I know the obviosu easy answer is "Both" but I just don't have the coin. Which should I get FIRST?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That about does it, if anyone can help me with these questions I would appreciate it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

wisdom of zephyl and quiet purity don't stack.I'd recommend getting the rare armor. you'll wear it a long time, probably until lvl 53-54. imbueing should't cost that much, just a few gold, so do it .)get agi first, then str, i'd say. Two agi dolls give a nice avoidance bonus and power.

<DIV>Rare imbued armor is worth every copper you spend. Get you some cedar imbue crugels (high agl) to start off with and then go to something else, like cestii's or something like that. And allwasy get imbued. At lvl 50 is has saved my hide a few times, either that proc on the weapon doing that little bit more damage, or the proc on the chest, that heals you just a bit. You prob will see prices go down a little on t5 rares when the expansion packs comes out.</DIV>

Actualy I have to disagree with the Sameria. I find having an imbued staff (2h) is a great option for a monk, true you will be slightly less dps with it however it will be much better for tanking and soloing. You may wana get cestii to have a slashing damage if its needed but jut for leveling 2h weapons work great in solo or tank and decent dps. The 2 imbued peices of armor are definatly worth it and you may look into boots and gloves aswell for getting the rare they are great monk items to have with agi and such. <div></div>
<DIV>So you would deffinately get agility dolls first?</DIV>

<P>My stats self buffed are:</P> <P> </P> <P>118 str</P> <P>130 Agil</P> <P>74 Stam</P> <P> </P> <P>I guess that means I should get a stamina hex doll.</P>
well just to give you a pointer like im a 46 monk and although i have both +12 agi and +12 str i would def choose the +12 agi straight of just because for solo and tanking purposes. My stats buffed atm (solo) are 184 agi, 160 str, 93 sta my stas a bit low i knw but bah <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <div></div>

HP > the minimal avoidance you gain from +12 agi when you are already over 100.

sta is great for group situations, but if you tank for long fights (raids), agi is much better.14 sta give 150 hp14 agi give 0.8% avoidancewhen a mob hits for more than 18750 points during a fight, you will avoid more than those 150hp.
I equip my Agi doll when soloing /tanking, my str doll is nearly always equipped while my sta is really when im in the danger of being hit by a big aoe. <div></div>
<DIV>okay, I am level 40 now!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I just can't decide if dropping 1p 20g on two pristine imbued cedar fighting batons is worth it. (Thats the price on my server). Will I be using these long enough that the price is worth it? Will I be replacing them so soon with the expansion comming out? Will I be finding/questing better weapons? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Im leaning heavily towards spending the 1p 20g, but thats is literally all of my cash. Any suggestions are welcomed.</DIV>

well, I love my batons. But I was lucky and had enough cash to get some pristine imbued slashing thingies also. I neede them as some mobs are crushing immune. I have not encountered yet a crush/slash immune mob. <div></div>
Would it be worth it to get 1 pristine imbued fighting baton, and 1 pristine imbued cestii(slashing thingy)?

<DIV>Unless you're really married to the DW concept, I would get a cedar bo staff instead, because it's cheaper.</DIV>
<P>The stats offered from the dual wield are what lures me to using two weapons.</P> <P> </P> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>*edit*</DIV> <DIV>And after the expansion the need for slower weapons will not be that big of a deal. It was noted that mobs will reposte less, combat arts have no cast time, and procs are scaled.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So really doesn't it come down to which has better stats? The Cudgels and the fighting batons seem to have the best stats - right?</DIV><p>Message Edited by Dougyb on <span class=date_text>08-22-2005</span> <span class=time_text>01:45 PM</span>

Yup - but you've also indicated that you're a bit short on money, so getting a 2h will cost you half as much as getting two DW weapons, and should do about the same damage. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
