We need a thread for the upcoming combat revamp after most of the changes have been revealed now. Some feedback from the guys on test and beta would be nice (Hello, Gage?) because not everyone has a highlevel monk on test.I read the update notes, and thus far, i especially like:Brawlers can now deflect, parry, and riposte attacks from any direction, not just the front.Yay! No more running around crazy trying to get those 5 mobs lined up in front of you while you receive a severe beating!Increasing your Defense skill gives you a better chance of avoiding attacks, but there is now a cap on how much it can be buffed or debuffed.Increasing your Agility improves your base chance of avoiding an attack, but it will not improve your likelihood of parrying, deflecting, or blocking with a shield. There is now a cap on the effectiveness of Deflection buffs and debuffsSo, agility has the same benefit for us as it has for guardians. it improves our base chance of avoiding. looks wrong somehow.I like the thing with defense and deflection skill cap though, because it will hurt plate classes more (they have more +def buffs). As far as i know, there aren't many deflection buffs, except for our selfbuffs, so this won't hurt us that bad.
<div></div>A couple of quick notes from my level 18 brawler(working towards monk on Test): Martial focus is now a 1 concentration permenant buff. App 2 increases brawler and fighter skills by 3.8 Call to Arms buffs the same(roughly) but uses one concentration and only lasts 30 seconds(1 minute recast) Intervene will only intercept once. But at app 2 it has a 100% chance to work on the first hit. So, this is a good opening protection move now. Staggering stance no longer buffs agi. It increases deflection(by 2.9 at adept 1). The "creature master's rage" trait attacks seem to be broken. They list as a minor heal to the target O.o Feign, Indomitable will, and those such moves all seem about the same with maybe some minor number changes. Our attacks seem a little less damage wise(at this level) but not by huge amounts and most are now instant cast(as are most combat arts). Shoulder charge did get some interesting changes though. It now does(at app 1): 4-7 damage Casts Knockdown on the target - Stuns target(resist chance increased by 20%), increases blur vision of the target by 4.0, throws target back. While my offense and to hit seems to have dropped a touch too, I feel and am doing much better defensively so far. All in all though, I don't feel significantly different from before other than a minor decrease in offense and increase in defense. Again, I'm only 18 brawler at this point, but I figured everyone would be curious <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Oh, and another note, the con of everything has changed. That doesn't mean everything is easier or harder. In fact, in most cases they are the same. A few things have been made easier, and a few things harder though. But, con seems more "honest" and realistic on the whole. So, that lizard thingy you fought before might not be any harder after the patch, but it might con closer to what you thought it really should have. Regardless, I don't feel nerfed as of yet. I do feel a bit different, but not nerfed *shrug* <div></div><p>Message Edited by Utess on <span class=date_text>08-04-2005</span> <span class=time_text>11:01 PM</span>

<DIV>My favorite so far (level 14) is the 360 degree parry/deflect/reposte. It was so much fun turning my back on a crowd of ruins stalkers and having them burn themselves up on my reposte.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In real terms, it means not having to worry about getting the MoBs clumped in the front sector anymore -- HU RAH</DIV>

I know they said they havent finished the fighter stuff yet...but so far im not liking the changes. I picked a monk just assuming that they did more dps and werent as good as tanks, but as of now we seem to be doing not even half the damage; and its a lot slower due to the lost hastes =( Defensively, It seems that when we get hit by solo-grouped down arrows we only get hit for little damage and dont get hit often...but when i move onto the ^^s even with a group I still get pwned =P I used to be able to do it fine, actually...pre-45..after 45 no one really gave me a chance anymore, so I haven't really tanked since then =/ <div></div>
