View Full Version : Raid loot and Armor classification.
<DIV>Hi Guys,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My guild is now approaching the higer levels and rading is becoming more and more common amongst us. What I am concerned about is how raid loot should be decided.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now we all know that there are 4 armor types, plate, chain, leather and cloth. The Monk gets the ability to wear 2 types where as a plate wearer can wear all 4 if he so wishes.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>reading many of the other class forums, many classes mix thier armor types to get the best of both worlds i assume.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now what happens when your the only monk or leather wearer on a raid and a superb pair of (obviously designed for a monk) leather trousers drop. Would you be annoyed or do you think its fair that most of the chain wearing scouts decide to roll for it too? And what happens if they win it? </DIV> <DIV>do you think that on raid loot classes should be restricted to thier primary armor type. Personally i think this is how it should be. If you do the sums say a mob has an equal chance to drop any type of armor.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>A monk only has a 50% chance that a piece of armor is going to drop that he could possibly wear. Chain 75%, plate 100% although its unlikely that these last 2 classes will choose cloth. A monk might as we dont rely on mitigation, mainly avoidance...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just would like to know what you guys think.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Tiao.<BR> </DIV>

We mostly restrict it based on armor type. If it's not much of an upgrade for any of the monks/druids we open it up to the chain wearers. No one gets to roll on VLA except casters because it's so rare <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <div></div>

The other choice you have is to wait for brawling skill armor. Right now only 1 mob drops the full suit of vulcanized armor, but Gi's are showing up in CT (frogs) and splitpaw acts of war.

We had the leather armor leggings drop from Anvilpaw the other night, and a scout won them. Yeah I was upset about it, as well as the Bruiser who was also in the raid. We were only supposed to roll if the armor was an upgrade, but oh well. Next raid I am in, I want it to be clarified like you stated Tiao (primary armor type restricted rolls).

I hate people who do that... we have a ranger in my guild whose won TWO very very awesome light pieces. Cryptic TUnic and Boots of Alacrity, which were obviously designed for monk, but a scout got them, so [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] [Removed for Content] off about it. <div></div>

I sympathise with you about loot, as I play both a 50 bruiser and a 50 fury (double-wammy!). Also, as far as brawler specific stuff, don't forget the fists from Zalak -- though I understand fists are more the Bruiser's forte. <div></div>

<DIV>FoH has no restrictions, but I hope that the devs follow Brutal and AoW with more class or subclass only loots.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If Cryptic Light Armor legs drop in MoM I compete with 4 bruisers, another monk, and a bunch of scouts to get them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If Cryptic Medium Armor legs drop in MoM the scouts compete with themselves.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If a Gi drops, I compete with the brawlers, as it should be.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This will also allow SOE to further diversify stats for armor, such as having true Templar/Inq plate armor.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As it is now druids get pretty screwed with light armor drops anyway.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Funny, a guild group I was part of in OLS the other night had a rather heated discussion about this.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Gage-Mikel on <span class=date_text>08-04-2005</span> <span class=time_text>12:12 PM</span>

When we raid, we stick to the restrictions that Mages lot on VLA, Brawlers/Druids on LA, etc etc. It keeps most people happy. A lot of scouts grumble about how LA is good for scouts, since they tend to wear augmented leather instead of ebon... but the system seems to work.

<DIV>Yeah, I lost a really good set of sleeves to a fury once in DFC. Their main stats were str and...wait for it... INT!!! *sigh*</DIV>
The competition for light armor could actually get worse after the revamp. Plate tanks who reach the mitigation cap will want to swap out their fabled heavy plate for quality light armor in order to improve their avoidance. They are probably going to introduce a lot of class specific armor with the expansion, but I would guess a lot of light armor will still be open to everyone but casters. I'm a plate tank and I am *not* looking forward to competing with you guys for what should be *your* armor, but there it is. <div></div>

Yeah, I dont mind sharing my armor type with druids because a lot of the druids ive had to compete with are friendly about it and know when the stats are better suited to brawlers. It is very annoying to have to compete with scouts for it seeing as I cant roll on their armor and a lot of the time its only a minor upgrade for them. I need all the mit I can get where as scouts hardly seem to care about the mit on an item so it seems like such a waste to me. The only thing that gets me more is when a Mystic wants the stuff... At the same time I dont feel quite right saying you cant wear something that is an upgrade because its not a big enough upgrade. So limitations on the classes that can wear the stuff would be nice. Personally, I think that if medium armor classes are gladly taking light armor drops as upgrades then maybe medium should be upgraded. <span>:smileytongue:</span><span> </span><div></div>
The problem is that they upped the mitigation on light armor so that it's almost medium armor. (Just compare it to very light and medium. Light is nowhere near halfway in between) If they up medium then medium and heavy wearers will start having the same conflicts, especially with the way avoidance is going to work now. They could increase mitigation for heavy too I suppose, or bring light back in line... <div></div>

<div></div>I really, honestly, hate it when a Medium class wears leather. For one it makes us leather wearers look bad because a [Removed for Content] scout is in our threads <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. Also, I just really believe there are armor classes for a reason.. and that's to wear your armor.. I hear a lot of scouts complain about how paper they are, and then I see them wearing light and VL armor. In Vagabonds we only allow each class to bid on the gear that was designed for them. In some cases, however, a heavy, medium, or light class can "down-grade" if the item ends up going to the bank without any bids from the current members of that armor class. It's a really nice system, and I would hate it if scouts started bidding on stuff Light armor wearers need. The day you see me in VLA is the day I quit <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. They're going to be more differentiated - on Test, currently heavy is 38%, medium is 30%, and light is 22%. So medium will have about a third higher mitigation than light.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Of course, a scout would argue that the mitigation is irrelevant because they're not supposed to be getting hit. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>Lol.... welcome to the world of the monk...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I spent 5.5 years on EQ I playing a monk and now have another on EQ II. Yes, with both games, loot is next to nothing. What I do is this...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If I join a group to fight or guild fight I state that I can roll on anything if my type won't drop. Once I get a piece, I won't roll anymore. Or, everyone rolls for everything.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It isn't just us, many other types of characters have trouble as well.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I learned in EQ 1 when I wore horrible stuff that I won't let this happen anymore. I got no loot, had no money etc. back then while other people were tweaked.</DIV>
