in the FAQ you have:

1. Is it better to DW or use 2h? What about 1h?

There is very little difference in damage whether using DW or 2H weapons. Weapon procs are scaled to the speed of your weapon and scaled based on DW or 2H, so that's not a factor. The 2H weapon will have lower stat bonuses than the DW weapons, but it is assumed that when dual weilding you will get hit by more ripostes. Both the fist weapons and the two-handed bo staves have very cool animations.

It is believed that when weilding a 2H weapon you will get more procs from your combat arts, but this has not been proven.

Do not use a one handed weapon. You don't have anything to put in your offhand, you get lower stat bonuses than dual weilding, and you do less damage than either DW or 2H

ok, take these

http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/item.vm?itemId=67355

and

http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/item.vm?itemId=68902

one has a base max dmg of 221 with 2.0 delay and the other 70 with a 1.5 delay

lets assume that you only auto attack and that every swing hits....also that the base max dmg listed is achieved exactly every time ie every hit does 221 or 70 dmg.(I wish)

in 1 minute the War Hammer will do 6630 dmg (30 swings X 221)

the Batons assuming your DW and they each swing at the same speed which they don't I believe( same as EQlive there is an additional delay for the offhand ) 5600 dmg (40 swings X 70 dmg X 2 for DW)

6630 dmg

                -

5600 dmg

1030 additional dmg from autoswing alone on the War Hammer.

am I screwing something up here cause 1000 pts of dmg does not seem trivial to me?

Thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately, you aren't comparing apples to apples. The first weapon is a rare crafted weapon, and the other is a normal crafted weapon. The T5 rare baton is cedar

1) I havent checked your math. But your inconsinstancy could easily be explained by:

Your comparing a pristine imbued "ebon" warhammer to a "Pristine imbued "Teak" Fighting Baton(s).

Ebon = Rare

Teak = handcrafted (Common)

Rare > Common. End of story.

2) It has been proven by math, parsing, etc that yes you do get more procs, with a slower 2her then you would with a faster 2her or dual wields.
Many people argue that the parses are not reliable, well what is then? Sadly to say, the difference is so big, that one may not believe it until they actually have a nice 2her AND Dual wields for themselves (Of compareable quality) to which point they will see the difference. You wont even need to parse, or finger count.

I have a 2h with a 12% to proc. I have 2x DW's with 12% to procs. Rarely will I drop a lunging mongoose (think 5 attack CA? so early ... my brain..) in which it doesnt proc. On the other hand, OFTEN I will land a lunging mongoose with 2x DW's with 12% proc, in which it there are no procs.

When I say that you can see, Im trying to say the difference is so big, that if these weapons were identical glasses of water, I would not have to put the glasses next to eachother to be able to tell you which one had more water in it. Its not a small difference, its a rather large difference.

3) When you take procs away, a lot of this all goes out the door. Do I want a treasured DW? or do I want a treasured 2H? (A common question for instance) Which weapon is best? Well if you ask me of my knowledge and experience, while doing much parsing on many different weapons, if you take procs away, I could care less if its 2h, dual wield, 1.4 delay, 2.4 delay. They will come out pretty close, I wouldnt loose sleep over it.

See, it's settled, I'm an idgit.

Was looking at the wrong freakin weapon, went back and took the cedar which is 83 max base listed dmg and it comes out to 6640 dmg

10 pts OVER the 2HD weapon of comparable quality, guess it does come straight down to procs only.
