I'll admit, it appears as if I'm neglecting an integral part of the game by not using potions. I typically just keep my now lvl 40 monkee in yellow/ orange gear (just upgraded chest, legs & feet to pristine imbued augmented gear...well, 'cept fer boots, but y'know what I mean), and make sure that all my CA's are app iv or better. But after FD'ing 5 times (pre-gear upgrade) and NOT being able to beat the Pit Champion, I need to ask the elders of our class for advice.

I'm guessing I have soloed 95% of my playing time (kids, wife aggro etc prevent me from really committing to a grp for long periods of time usually), but I've always had fun, and been able to do pretty well (I thought). What suggestions are out there for a lvl 40 monk to use during difficult solo combat encounters. I have read something about "...Torrent..." but I'm looking for more permanent suggestions (don't get me wrong, as soon as I log next I will try to pick some of that up and try that d*mn Pit Champ again).

Are there potions that will "refill" your power or health pools? Potions that significantly increase AGI, STR, STA? Mitigation or DPS?

Any and ALL advice/ info will be greatly appreciated.

THX.

Fayde

40 Monk, Najena

The benefits aren't that large. They're mostly useful to gain that slight extra edge in the really hard fights, like against the Pit Champion. The healing potions don't heal much, the mitigation potion adds 2-3%, the power regen will give maybe 200 points of power over 30 seconds. The stat buff potions are +17 and are probably the most useful, but there aren't many circumstances in which I would use them.

The resist potions are great for raiding though.

When soloing I frequently use potions of Adeptness and Reflection to augment my AGI and STR. Sometimes if I'm feeling wacky I use Determination for a few exra HP. The others I only use against real nasties. I don't have any fabled gear - my guild can't/won't raid - so I find potions perhaps more useful than an uber-geared monk may.

I have an alchy in my guild who makes me potions for free, so I frequently use agi, str/sta and (when tanking) ac. I don't know that I'd spend money on them (I'm pretty cheap), but for free I'l definitely take the bonuses!!

I *always* use sigmonds (24 str/sta), rainmaker (24 agi) and sometimes Melernil's (212 mit) when I'm in combat. Always.

Alchemists. They are the "legendary" versions.

My free drug dealer .... er... alchy... isn't that high lvl yet. What lvl does he need to be to make those, and what do I need to supply him with? OMG, I sound like such a crackhead...

*starts sweating* must have better potions...must... *twitch*

Dmg Shields RULE! I know they don't seem like much on the surface, but 15-25 (T4 and T5) points of dmg every time you get hit is sevreal hundred minimum that is unresistable during a solo fight, against a group encounter the benefits only exponentialy increase.
