View Full Version : Have I ruined my character?
<DIV>Well I feel like I might have made a huge mistake. I got level 10 today and I got to choose a training ability.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I chose the AoE attack by accident because I was stupid and did not realize assault was AOE. /cry was all I could think of doing. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Have I ruined my character by not taking the kick or the taunts? Will this haunt me the rest of my career?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I feel sick to my stomach :smileysad:</DIV>

There's a respec coming around soon, this will allow you to re pick all of those skills. Don't fret, nothing is ruined. No skill choice, in my opinion, can make or break a character.Good luck to you.
<DIV>Okay that's good to know! </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thank you!</DIV>
<DIV>Not at all. None of these selections can "ruin" a character. All of the skills have their own uses. What you're most likely referring to is the common thought that taking the single taunt will decrease your taunt timer from 30 seconds to 8 seconds (or something to that effect). I didn't select the taunt, and my timer is 8 seconds anyhow. I believe they just adjusted the timer across the board. Use the skill you picked. Enjoy it. No matter which you pick, you'll be using something else in another 10 levels (give or take).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you're worried about making a single "bad" skill/trait selection you may want to take a good look at the skills and traits you'll be learning from levels 10 through 50. You earn earn a couple different types of bonuses (green plus sign in the lower right corner by default). These bonuses arrive in one form or another every 2 levels. You can look up your profession and your race and plan out where you would like your character to be by the end game. Some things of note are that a site may say you gain plus 3 vs poison. It actually means plus 3%, not 3 points. When they're talking about regen I believe they actually mean that many points per regeneration tick.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That 30 second to 8 second timer adjustment was mentioned once in a guide and has been quoted on all of the major eq informational web sites.</DIV>

Don't worry - anything that is so important it will make or break you is something they'll probably nerf <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> You might be able to use the /respec command, but I doubt it. Don't worry, when the combat changes go live in a month or two then everyone gets a free /respec. <div></div>
Don't listen to them. It's all over for you. You might as well roll a new character - in fact you'd probably best just deleting your game, erasing the HDD and using the computer in some weird, pyromaniacal voddo ritual. Or something.

Is it not working? I noticed my spelling was rubbish, too.

[expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] that sucks, sorry you picked that. To fix it I would do a Alt+f4, then a format c: ; really this is the only thing to do in your situation... <span><blockquote><hr>LittleStuart wrote: <blockquote> <hr> Dougyb wrote: <div>...</div> <div>Have I ruined my character by not taking the kick or the taunts?</div> <div> ...</div> <div> <hr> </div></blockquote><font color="#ff6600">You've ruined your own character. <DIV>I am unsure to some of the replies. I can tell the sarcasm of some of you, but others I am unsure.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm new to the game, having played only 3 days. Go easy on me.</DIV>

<P>Sorry Doug,</P> <P>In EQ:ToS quite a few of the mobs use to say "It's <race>s like you who've ruined your own land. You'll not ruin mine!' :smileyvery-happy:</P>

You should be fine, respect on combat revamp has been announced. And you really haven't ruined your character unless you play a templar and don't choose the group cures... but thats another whole can of worms they need to fix. <div></div>
