<DIV>Which stat is more important for a monk?  Str or Agi?  Str drives power and damage while Agi drives avoidance.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Laer</DIV>

<P>depends on your role in a group..</P> <P>if you are tank, you want more avoidance, hence agi</P> <P>if you are a dps, you want more dmg, hence str</P>

<DIV>you can either take the poor mans aproach of balance in gear, or you can get a set of gear for tanking and a set of gear for DPS.. which will be quite expensive.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>basicaly.. you will want high high stamina and <STRONG>agility</STRONG> when your tanking.. and high str when your DPSing.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>i try to keep 150/250/150 str/agi/sta when im tanking.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>good luck</DIV>

The closer you get to "raiding age" the more you will begin to focus on strength.

I've always been a proponent of the balance between STR, AGI & STA Sure, when dpsing there's no replacement for high STR & AGI because you're making use of those to hit hard and accurately. When tanking, a greater focus on AGI and STA will make you avoid more and have more hp to help lessen the big hits we're prone to taking. Honestly, if you raid daily as I do (and based on the classes we have) DPS is my role 80% of the time,  off-tanking 20% of the time. However, being the monk purist I am, I always keep plenty of stamina gear on me as well. I like to use hex dolls as a way of optimizing my role at the current time. While DPS'ing, I use two +12 STR hex dolls to make me more effective. And if I have to tank anything, I throw on two +12 STA dolls to help with the max hp. I tanked all the way to fifty, and I'll tank for groups again come the expansion. So with that in mind, I like to keep things balanced for the most part. Use hex dolls to optimize your stats for your current role, and aim to keep your base stats within 20 of each other at all times so you can adapt. <div></div>

<DIV>I would recommend carrying 2-sets of gear, strength and agility (I wouldnt even worry about stamina). When you are soloing, I will wear the strength gear. You will notice inceased strength will finish fights much faster and compensates for the lack of agility. For tanking, all agility and mitigation gear. Also, if you are raiding, the goal would be to outfit every slot with str and haste gear, even if the items are grey (unless you need to wear resistance gear).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-Jenjer</DIV>

I just try to stay as balanced as possible.  Right now I'm around 155 str/agi/sta no potions self buffed.  Give or take.

<P>Slightly off-topic but not entirely:  </P> <P>In our persona window, the "Attack" number means exactly what?  Higher melee hits?  Higher combat art hits?  A combination (like the old Defense stat) where it is measure of your offensive prowess (your damage vs. your accuracy)?  </P> <P>Just curious what others think.</P>

I've gone the balanced route on this, and tend to be pleased with my results - though, I'm left wondering how with nearly identical stats/gear Gage has significantly more hitpoints than I do. <div></div>

Different trait choices, perhaps?  I know there's at least one level where you can get a trait that raises your HP.

Yeah, its probably trait choices.  On my last respec I went almost all stamina, total HP, or a % of my HP pool.  Inspecting a lot of other monks/bruisers on the two servers I've lived on I've noticed I almost always have more HP.  /shrug

i like to use those choices to balance my characters out.   i dont focus on one attribute alone.  So my monk isnt maxed in one aspect but a feather weight in another. <div></div>
