<DIV>Hi all <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Just had an interesting experince and thought i'd share.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I play a Monk, lvl 39. She duo's with a 39 Mystic. I love this duo, and love my monk, sometimes for reasons even I can't explain. Since our late 20's-early 30's however, we've been noticing a difference in encounters ie. our abilities not scaling with the mobs', his running out of power needing to spam heal me, my not being able to keep aggro on more than 2 maybe 3 mobs at a time, etc. We have pretty much resigned ourselves lately that, as a duo, we need to stick to solo mobs/encounters or green heroics.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>One group of mobs that has plagued us for a few levels are the defiled villagers in EL. It seems to be hit or miss whether we can kill them, usually miss. At 38, we tried several times to take on 3 grouped lvl 36 heroic defiled villagers. With me taunting as often as I could, using HO's, buffing as I pull, etc., I was never able to keep aggro on all the mobs. As soon as I'd get aggro back from one, another would turn to him. My stats are in no way amazing, but I have seen many monks my level or above with worse. (currently at 39, agi is around 140, str 129, avoidance over 70%, mitigation at 30-ish)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Today, we take my 34 Fury and his 34 guardian to EL... we see the defiled villagers, 3 mobs, 36 heroic. /shrug it's only debt, so he pulls..... over the hill comes a 4th mob. Ok here we go ...... </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And we win. With power to spare. He never once lost aggro (and I am usually One with the fury aggro). Again, neither one of us in anything remotely uber as far as gear</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I don't know whether to be happy we got revenge on those villagers, or sad that we were able to do this at two levels below the mobs and our monk and mystic can barely kill them at two levels above them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Have any of you been experiencing these difficuties post-30, or notice such glaring disparities between tanking subclasses? Thanks <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV><p>Message Edited by Iari111 on <span class=date_text>06-08-2005</span> <span class=time_text>02:16 PM</span>
There are some situations where a guardian will tank better than us, and vice versa. Its been a while but I think I remember the halflings in EL doing a lot of dots, which always seem to eat us up fast because of our lower HP and since we can't avoid any of the damage once the dot starts. This means your healer has to heal you more which generates more agro. Your best bet is to try duoing someplace else that has a lot of melee mobs... you might want to try RV or Feerrott instead. <div></div>

Fury is a better healer then a mystic too. <div></div>

I know exactly what you mean Iari111 as I play with an RL friend and our duo teams are 26 Monk/25 Mystic and 34 Warden/34 Bezerker. (I am the Monk and Warden) It makes a great change splitting our time betweek the different teams, also makes us better players I think as you get to see the other side as well. We have definitely noticed a difference in the duos can take down. The Warden/Bezerker can take on heroic encounters higher than our actual level but it takes a LONG time. Fights can last 10 minutes as the Warden is very efficient and my friends Bezerker is decked out in rare armour and weapons. It just takes a long time as the damage isn't there. The Monk/Mystic have trouble with even con heroics a lot of the time, I expect this to get worse as we are still quite low level. But where this duo comes into their own is the green heroic groups, the damage of the Monk just mows them down and the wards from the mystic means he takes no damage at all <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> 2 seperate groups of mobs though and the Monk has a very hard time keeping agro whereas the Bezerker doesn't even break a sweat. So in the end both groups get exp at about the same rate but just have to fight different things. I also noticed goining into the next tier makes things easier if you can upgrade your weapons and armour straight away. Hehe when the Bezerker got his T4 rare armour I almost went on holiday! <div></div>

<DIV>The issue with the group in EL is the dots. I've been trying to beat that group for a few weeks now across a couple levels and that group usually has 2 if not more dotters that make it hard for me to solo as a monk. At 40, I can safely kill 2 halfers before having to FD. There is another group that only has 3 halfers, but still 2 dotters and still tough to beat, although much easier now.</DIV>

<P>I'm a 35 monk and my GF is a 35 Warden. We have no problems killing the 4 group defiled villagers. As a matter of fact, we finished several quests at 34 and dinged 35 off of them. For us, the key to them is her to HoT me as I pull with group-taunt. Running back on the pull I use a special for Defense, then use an AoE damage CA. I usually have the first mob dead (always a caster) before she casts the first new heal on me. Also, dont be afraid to use your Mend. As a matter of fact, if I cant seem to get a group HO off, I'll sometimes hit the Mend just for the agro it generates. That thing is basically pointless to save yourself or anyone else. Might as well get some basic use out of it in an exp group.</P> <P>It doesn't hurt that at 35 I'm a 187 agi, 77.4% avoidance, 45% mitigation dwarf when receiving Warden buffs (do the BC quests and get those spells - especially the warden one that buffs the hell out of Agi).</P> <P>Also keep in mind that the Shaman Haze line has been totally nerfed and is useless now. So not only do the wards and healing suck, but they can no longer debuff the mobs as they did in the past. A scout class can debuff (level wise) as well as the shaman now.</P>
