Ok, I'm on my last AQ, I have done everything on it except "Kill 10 highland huntresses" part, so far I have found only ONE of those dumb lions, I have searched all over the griff fields (of what I can, I can solo the lions but the griff fields are covered in aggro mobs to me) and searched everywhere but the far south corners of TS. I only need 9 more highland huntresses to complete my last AQ and it is driving me insane. Someone said the gi wasnt worth it and I should just delete my quest, well that's nice that a guardian thought of that (*cough* no clue *cough*) but I cant afford to go out and buy or tailor somthing better right now, and I have done them all up until this point, I'm not giving up now.

Did anyone else have this much trouble with those dumb lions?

I would of told you to never do the first aq ;p....Seriously.. with the time you can spend on these.. you can make enough money for crafted, which is as good or better.. Hell, some people spend so much time jsut for the aq they could buy rare crafted.

I think I remember someone saying that the highland matriarchs and patriarchs were place holders for the Highland huntresses back when I did my AQ. Still, I could only find a few. I think at least two or three spawn around the griffawns and the hovering deathclaws near the Coldwind cemetary, and then I would run out to the plains near the ruins of Karana, near the bridge and I would usually find only one around there. I just had to keep repeating the circuit from the plains back to coldwind cemetary and back to the plains again. Yeah, it was a major pain. Good hunting to you though!

Liar! He was probably jealous, since it's possibly still the best looking, most distinctive armor in the game.

Your answer: kill lions in Thundermist valley. All kinds, stalkers, cubs, matriarchs and patriarchs. Eventually huntresses will spawn, but they are pretty rare. They are all on the same spawn table, so you just have to keep at it.

After reparing the gear I got I am still stuck with about 50 or 60 silver at any given time. I need these AQ's to get any leverage in battle, I still have green and gray armor pieces. I dont ask for handouts, not do I expect them, I try to do everything on my own with little or no help (unless offered without asking) so these quests are my only way as money is very tight for me, always.

I chose the provisioner path for tradeskills because trying to buy decent food and drink on my server is almost as bad as armor and skills. I still only have up to Apprentice IV on all my skills and those are upwards of 2-3 gold each.

And thanks to the others, I have been killing the other lions when I can, still see no spawns but I do guess they are rare, I try to get a scout partner to help me track them but his list is mostly empty of those lol. I guess I'll just solo the other lions until I can find them, thanks guys.

Message Edited by BLOODkane on 06-06-2005 09:51 AM

Calling me a liar? Or that guard? lol. By the time I got to aq5 I was already level 28... so I was wearing much better gear then aq anyways. And I still saw lvl 30+ monks in it, with much worse stats then me even if they were higher.. ;o

Sorry BLOODkane. When I said "Liar!" I meant the Guardian who told you not to do the AQ. The AQ armor is far and away better than the crafted armor of the same Tier, at least the common crafted. It's better then most of the Tier 3 drops as well. Just it looks terrible for most other subclasses. We get lucky, and have actual monk looking armor for a while.

Plus the AQ armor scales better when mentoring than even some of the rare crafted armors. It's totally worth doing for a Monk.

Spent an entire weekend doing AQ6 because of these lions. Got 3-4 each day over 3 days until I finally got it completed.

Be patient and enjoy the experience while your looking for the lions. Also, having a scout that can track is very useful.

The way I got money was killing alot of birds.. I filled up on chest drops.. usually took me like 2 hours.. would go sell, buy 1-2 pieces of armor and go back out. I have worn all orange gear since I was about 23ish. You shouldn't have to repair if you are being careful.. was usually really easy not to die for me... Theres a named zombie that spawns out there.. I think I soloed him at like.. 25.. His drops are good to sell/wear...Would get a gold or 2 from killing him.

I did the huntresses in 20 minutes.I found a group of lions near the graveyard with a huntress in it.I killed the huntress, feigned death, the encounter reset, with a new huntress, which i killed again, fd'ed and so on ...Dunno if this still works though.

It took me about 6 or 8 straight hours I think, but I did it by slaughtering every lion that spawned on both sides of the griffon field, over and over and over.

There is also one or two that can spawn by tower 3 or 4, but it isn't worth it, I'd just stick to killing any and all lions in the griffon fields.

I hated this part of the quest by the way.

Message Edited by Gage-Mikel on 06-06-2005 01:19 PM

This was frustrating for me too, I was 25 when i did mine and kept running around crater rims looking for the kitties, would pull any lion i could solo and a few gnolls just out of spite...

I dont think the FD trick works very well anymore i havent studied it closely but it looks like it just downgrades encounter rewards and sends back the living members of the encounter.

Hey Blood,

You will love the AQ armor. Never regretted doing those quests, even thought the huntresses were a pain. The armor is great for the high 20's and awesome looking.

As others have said, just kill all the lions in the NW corner of TS and you will get some huntresses (at least now they are soloable, rather than being ^^ group MoBs . . . and when I was a little monk, the griffons were slow and black screened all the time, and I had to walk uphill through three feet of snow to get to the TS gates . . .

Message Edited by Morrolan V on 06-06-2005 03:45 PM

yeah i had this thing too, walken in TS for like 4 hours to get those bloody 10 huntresses, griffin, then back to tower2 or 3 i think..griffin(fields)..

it was nuts, i hate that, i couldn't see TS for 3 days after that..

those are the kind of things that sony should be careful...patiance is a virtue, but not lousy scripters.

not that i'm ungrateful, they did a great job on lots of other stuff..but i think this game is too bloody huge for any company to keep stable and annoyance-free.

which stops my beef right there. you cant win this..just vent.

I think it's already been mentioned but the way I did it was to find 1 mob containing the huntress, Kill the huntress as quickly as possible and then FD. Wait for the encounter to break and for the lions to wander off and then go back to them and the Huntress was back and ready for another [Removed for Content] kicking. Took me about an hour :smileyvery-happy:
