<DIV>Ok im a 21 monk atm i have 69.7% avoidance 802 mit and 800ish hp (forget exact hp and cant login). My stats are on par with alot of the tanks i see my lvl except in HP but it seems like i take 2 or 3x the amount of damage they do. Is that normal? I was just wondering I dont really tank but would like to know. Thank you in advance.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>P.S. I actually could take a rather good beating in my 20's. Now at lvl 39 and duoing with a 36 Warden, a group of blues kick my butt sometimes, ending up with little health and power for both of us. Of course the Zerker friend of mine that is only one lvl higher can easily handle the damage they deal out. Not sure if I'm using the wrong buffs or what, but I do have 3 pieces of rare armor on and the rest hand crafted, so I am equiped with some pretty good stuff, not uber mind you, but should be able to handle the regular (did I say epic? I said i have the same stats or BETTER then tanks my level and was wondering if monks were graded on a curve that my mit even if its higher then a zerker for example will still only do half the work. And excuse me but if my stats are better and i still take more damage then I AM NOT A TANK. That is fact. Now i wanted to know why i was taking so much more damage if you dont have an answer to that question then please shut up. Tzan, my opinion (which is somewhat controversial <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />) is that Monks <i>should</i> tank just as well as a Guardian, just differently. Guardians should take more hits but mitigate more damage, Monks should take fewer hits but mitigate less.What that does mean, however, is that a Monk's damage-taken is variable. A mob can hit you 3 times in a row and do nasty damage, then the next 3 mobs can barely touch you. Add in the Monk's lower Health and fights can become touch-and-go more often with a Monk. That's my first bet on what happened to you.Also, FWIW, I have the firm opinion that, currently, Monks and Bruisers <i>don't</i> tank just as well as plate tanks, or Berserkers at least (since that's what I've played to directly compare with). That may change with the upcoming Big Combat Adjustment they're working on; we'll see.

I means comon they have very light armor its only one step down! Get a grip man the game cant have everyone tanking equal but doing diffrent damage thats just stupid. And monk being dps isnt trash talking it, Its going back to the role we filled in EQ1 big deal so chill. If they made all fighters same DPS then sure everyone should tank the same. But whats the point of having 6 fighter subclasses if they are all the same (which you advocate). there is no point. Glad you arnt designing the game otherwise we would have mage scout fighter and priest and thats it no diffrences <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

For instance, Guardians have a number of good group buffs that we lack, like their +defense and +hp group buffs. Monks have one group buff, shared with all other fighters, and the +avoidance buff, shared with all other fighters. That suggests that we should be better than Guardians in a different area.</P> <P>Weighing all of these factors against one another is where balance becomes difficult, and it is <EM>very</EM> complex when you consider all of the different scenarios in the game (solo, small group, low DPS xp group, high DPS xp group, single mob epic raid, epic raid with adds, fleeing from gnomes with the plague, etc).</P>
