<DIV> <DIV>Can anyone give me input on their skill choice when they reached a monk at level 20? I think its between a feign death, focused strike, flying kick and one more I cant remember, upgrade. I'm not the main tank usually when hunting in groups. Any help is appreciated.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Krayzon</DIV></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>~Nevermind I found what I was looking for in the search menu.~ But opinions are still welcome.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Krayzon on <span class=date_text>05-06-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:28 AM</span>

<DIV>Got FD and don't regret it a bit. Its a considerable upgrade over the level 28 Play Dead until about level 33-34.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>With recent FD changes, however, this may have changed a bit. </DIV>

I also took FD. My wimpy one just didn't work, and another monk a few levels higher than me told me that it's really the best option if you solo a lot. So far, he was right.

<P>I took the FD upgrade and it was very useful for soloing/exploring and harvesting. Whats interesting about it is its on a different timer than other FD arts so even after Playdead surpasses it, if Playdead fails it still serves as a backup till Playdead timer is back up. There was a thread I posted some of the FD values I got with it, but in general it worked decent on the 37-38 spiders in feerrott when I was harvesting which was still green till around 44-45. This was less important after they made them less intense (zone population stuff that made grouped mobs non-heroic and some with down arrows etc so they wasnt so deadly), but its still nice to know it is effective and useful even that far in levels, as long as you remember it does cap eventually so that it will only work on greens when your in the low 40 range. I even used it as backup to stop heart for a while, which is our last FD art. I would say around 44-45+ is when it has finally outlived its usefulness. Thats a pretty long range tho and alot of utility for the time it last.</P> <P>The only other one I would consider taking would be the Stifling Dragon kick, which can stop mobs from casting combat arts or spells for a short duration, depending on the duration that can be very handy utility to have vs caster or grouped and heroic mobs.</P>

Take the stifle. You'll still use it at 50 - I do. The FD upgrade is useful once every long while when things go very badly. The stifle helps keep them from going badly, and you'll hit it every ten seconds for the rest of your game. The FD is replaced later by Stop Heart. You'll never replace the stifle.

<DIV>I believe there was a change a few patches ago to move the level 20 FD training onto the same timer as normal FD.</DIV>

<P>Its still on a different timer than Stop Heart and I actually used it as a backup in RV today to feign off some level 42-43 greens that was bugging me while low power when Stop Heart failed twice in a row.</P> <P>Still either I think is a good choice, and as always chose whatever best fits your needs.</P><p>Message Edited by Arrowheart on <span class=date_text>05-06-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:36 AM</span>

<DIV>Stifle probably.. I actually took phins.. It is ok for soloing.. but I find I rarely have time to use defensive skills unless it s named.. But then I have FotM.. Phins is only really good because agi boost.. but you can just staggering stance someone and leave group..</DIV>
