They can make Monks casters and I'd still play. SOE made me buy the game, but it's the people I've met that keep me playing. I play this game, like one would play hockey with friends. I'm not going to get angry because another friend has a better stick than me. If you don't play it for similar reasons, and you keep getting effortlessly angry at SOE, maybe other types of games are in order.

I'll be honest I'm not the youngest, and my approach to many things is that of passivism. I know that if SOE breaks something, they will fix it. Screaming curses won't help. I'm also very aware that this game wasn't made by robots, but rather humans that are reading your posts. Those very same humans do feel every blow you send them. Some more or some less, but every jab you take at the game, or every rude useless comment, does hurt. Here are a few possible examples:

- Doesn't SOE test these things?!

They test as much as they can. They also realize they're not 100%, so they gave us the /bug command. I see this one a lot, and I think it takes a certain level of stupidity to ask.

- SOE hates "insert class"!!!

No they don't. They have much better things to do with there time then plot against you.

- OMG they totally nerfed "insert class" I'm quitting now!!!1one

Then leave before they fix your class, that's the only solution I can see.

Sounds mushy doesn't it? It "hurts" people. It does. I'm sure more developers have lost sleep over bugs then any of you have

Message Edited by Jenoy on 04-14-2005 02:49 PM

umm apparently you have no clue how the rest of the world works outside of your cubby hole.

Life lesson, and feel free to stamp your 1 star approval after im done.

This game is not bad because it has bugs

This game is not bad because it just sucks and its boring...

Actually- its a great game. You just have to understand that once you reach a certain level you are looking for things and characteristics to occupy yourself with.

Tradeskilling is boring - every which way, SOE put too much emphasis on it and now it is backfiring like all heck with an unstable economy, and a lack of certain items in certain tiers becuase players dont do it for the love of it but instead for the cash.

Diversity is non existant

Race is pointless

Class is meanial, 4 classes (realistically)

So while players dont want to play that OTHER game, (wow), all they have in EQ2 is what? THIER CLASS.

Thats why people are so passionate about that - and the bugs within that spectrum, people are not crying about broken quest and crap, they want the things they value fixed =

you dont hear about a quest being broken until it doesnt give a reward right? That should tell you something. Its not about the dam quest - its about the REWARD for the time and effort they put into that quest.

You people that think everyone is just whining babies that hate the game... Get a clue.

The only thing that players have is thier time/money/character... thats all that matters to most players - understand it - love it - feel it.

Killing a bunch of static mobs day in and day out gets OLD FAST! - maybe your character level doesnt have you at that point yet - but most of us that are 40+, you start to see the truth.

I thought this was the best game ever till i hit level 37, and started looking at the classes around me. And the way the world was setup. And the changes to things that werent that big of a deal that seemed to systematically make the game more timesinkish than need be.

Look at the online world around you before you make assumptions partner. Its not as simple as you think.

SageMarrow wrote:
Race is pointless

SageMarrow: It is my experience that most people who play games like these (and this goes all the way back to D&D where you saw it the most) will play the min-max game. They will take everything they can to make sure their character is the absolute best. So in like D&D you would find that many people would take an elf for a mage because... Elf's had higher Int on the start. I think that there wasn't much variation in EQ2 because people wanted to play Ratonga Fighters or Ogre Mages and not be penalized for doing so. If they made really distinct lines for each race, you would see most classes only played with 1 or 2 different races, with a sprinking of others (because some people WILL play them despite any disavantages). Anyway, this is just my opinion on it and I like both my Ogre Monk and my Ratonga Monk

Race should be pointless, but then again look at the Ogre Guardians.

+ Defense racial bonuses everywhere

+ HP racial bonuses

The difference was enough to make a difference.

i dont care so much about the innate abilities so much. Then again some of them were cool like HP regen increase for iksar.

To me the bigger deal is that it has no impact on the game. I guess thats what i was trying to point out. No starting cities, no factions.... all that good crap that make the world feel immersive.

it would be nice to see that kerra dont use as much Power while sprinting and could sprint longer than other races.

It would be nice to see ratonga with a sniffing sense to check for chest and quest items in a room.

it would ne nice for a woodelf to have a maxed out safe fall skill at all times

it would be nice for trolls to have a fear inducing spell they could use every once in a while.

you get my point,

"umm apparently you have no clue how the rest of the world works outside of your cubby hole."

Fantastic way of starting. You have no clue who you're talking to, yet you feel that you can judge what he knows or doesn't. Lets move on no less.

"you dont hear about a quest being broken until it doesnt give a reward right? That should tell you something. Its not about the dam quest - its about the REWARD for the time and effort they put into that quest."

This tells me that I'm not at all on the same page as you. I do enjoy the quests. I like teasing other members of my guild while we slay "mob 23/200". I put time in this game that is true, I can hardly say I put effort. And the time I put in the game, I do so very willingly. So to sum it all up, I waste my time when I want, and put very little effort, why would I care that I don't get "Teh aXe oF D00m!!1one"? Maybe being a tester is more of your style. You seem to treat the game as a job, so might as well get paid for it.

"You people that think everyone is just whining babies that hate the game... Get a clue."

I think this is how it breaks down: 10% are thank you / fun posts. 10% are information on gameplay posts. 5% are construtive bug reporting / good suggetions. 75% is nothing but "whinning babies". Now this through my eyes, I doubt it's accurate, but lets pretend it is for a second. 10% of the posts will make the developers feel good about there work or atleast smile a little. The next catagory might make them realise how clever some of you are, and how quickly you guys can figure the quickest way to solve anything in a matter of days. 5% will actually be benificial to them in developing the game further, and to those posters, the devs are no doubt thankful. So the devs have to waste time sorting through the less-then-instructive, to find what looks like good information. When they do find some, they need to verify that it is indeed correct. So you see, whinning posts are quite detremental.

"Look at the online world around you before you make assumptions partner. Its not as simple as you think."

This a "do as I say not as I do" kind of statement huh?

ps: I do think that you bring a lot of good points on your second post though

I dont even see the 10% of 'nice' posts. Majority is screaming 'this game sucks, I quit.'

I like the game and most things about it. Do I think some things should be better? of course. However, I accept the way things are because:

1. They are still working out kinks.

2. You cant please everyone. Some things wont be liked by everyone. Just enjoy the things you do like. Dont like tradeskills? Dont do them. Just dont complain when that artisan has 1000p more than you.

The majority of people that seem to play this game are whiners. They have the 'world revolves around me' attitude.

race is pointless... regardless of stats its the 'thing' you look at for however long you play.....

"if you dont like it, maybe you shouldnt play" thats easily the stupidest remark ive heard. Thats not the way a business works, a business has no room to say "you dont like the way we work? have a nice life" -- Instead, they sit back, and take that in to appease the majority. Thus far, it seems like the EQ2 majority is below level 30, so theyre not having that rough of a time. Well, those people are going to move on, and most people who have moved past that level (and expecially level 40) have not been appeased. Theres a lot of problems, a lot of issues. These things need to be addressed, or the high end community will drop off quickly. EQLive is mostly about the end game, the worst part of it is the mid (god i hated levels 45 - 60), but you had something to strive for., you could do all this fantastic stuff. I dont see this with EQ2, theres nothing to propell me though the game. I've been a stagnant mid thirties for much to long, Basically, the only thing that keeps me going is creature mastery quests, and those are starting to get very sparse. The game has fundamental flaws, i'm pretty sure we can see that. At this point, i wish i would have chosen a different class, healer maybe, because thats the onlything else that appeals to me, but monk, i think spoiled my taste for the game -- Thats not what i'm trying to get at there, nothing against the monk, i guess i drifted -- I couldnt want to move through the lower levels again, even if im level 30 (this may be construed as low, i dont know), i wouldnt want to have to work up to level 15 again, that would be terrible, all those things i've already explored, all those menial quests ive already completed, thats dull the second time around, the first, *$%#&!, they were good, but did they make me want to return? Eff no. Flame on.
