Adept III Thoughts

So I'm sitting here cruising the boards trying to figure out what Adept 3's I should go after for my toon.  I started breaking it down by tier and rare.. including which alchemy books I'll need to make sure I have to make the necessary skills (34 alchemist right now).  Here is my list in case it helps anyone out: <u><b>Tier 3 - Jasper/Palladium </b></u>Face of the Mountain (lvl 26) - I still find myself using this all the time to get the increased mitigation when I'm tanking.. who cares if it went grey 200+ mitigation as a monk is still nice to have. <u><b>Tier 4 - Opal/Feysteel?</b></u> Quiet Purity (lvl 37) - Last in the line.. upgrade isn't that good but I still think it is worth it and will be fixed in the future Biting Mantis (lvl 39) - Last in the line.. wondering if anyone has upgraded this and if it still cons at least green at Adept 3 and lvl 50? Swooping Hawk (lvl 34) - Last in line.. again wondering the effectiveness of this at Adept 3 lvls and lvl 50 <u><b>Tier 5 - Ruby/Rhodium</b></u> Infuriating Calm (lvl 45) - Taunt.. enough said Stop Heart (lvl 42) - Hearing good things about this at Adept 3 lvls Transcendent Vision (lvl 47) - Must have skill for Raids.. we got any info on the stats of this at Adept 3? Lunging Mongoose (lvl 47) - Always had great success upgrading the previous skills in this line to Adept 3 Agitate Spirit (lvl 50) - Group taunt.. enough said Now during the course of lvling I know I did a few others like Karmic Focus and Rapid Swings.. but I was going for an endgame list not a progressive list. I don't use the AoE lvl 50 taunt because I use the adept 2 training one.

Really? So what is the hate difference between the lvl 50 and the Adept 2 lvl 40 training?  I took the lvl 40 training but thought for sure the lvl 50 AE one at Adept 3 would generate more hate.  I also was seriously considering picking up a Focus Energy Master 1 off the broker for 1pp the other day.. but figured Adept 3 lvl 50 AOE would still be generating more hate. Also Gage do you still use the training taunt that taunts 2 mobs in the encounter or did you switch over to Infuriating Calm? Thanks, Kharza lvl 44 Monk Mistmoore <div></div>

I'm curious to know how exactly wind walk is useless for you in your 40's? I use it constantly at 44 with little issue. <div></div>

Adept 1, as far as levels I don't really pay all that much attention - I know it's about useless in Everfrost, but I use it to run around Rivervale, Feerrott, and other zones fairly regularly. <div></div>

I upgraded transcendent vision to adept 3.  I'll post the specifics whenever I log on (dont play much anymore) but it doesn't seem to really have been worth it. Deflection gained did not increase over adept 3, as there probably is a cap.  Avoidance increase of target in spell description was only 3%, but that doesnt mean much and I havent had the time, nor the desire really to test the increase in avoidance of target. Lunging Mongoose MAster 1, however, hits more consistently and for significantly more damage so i assume adept 3 would be a good pick. <div></div>

You left out everburning fire intirely.  If you're going to use 1.7 weapons ad1 is probably fine but if you get your hands on say a RGF that 40% haste will be nice (i've personally seen it pull 300DPS). <div></div>

<P>My comments on the T5 skills that I think deserve priority for upgrades...</P> <P>- Infuriating Calm: This is the best Taunt we get so I'm a big proponent of upgrading it whenever possible. It doesn't really matter if the gains are small, it's the only true single target Taunt  we can upgrade so make it count, IMO.</P> <P>- Everburning Fire: This was the first one I upgraded to Adept 3 (IC was a very close second). Haste isn't quite as impactful as it was in EQ1 but it still gives a very nice DPS boost, especially now that EF no longer has a timer on it. Great upgrade here. The increase for it is 33%, 36%, 40% and 48% for App4, Adept 1, Adept 3 and Master 1, respectively.</P> <P>- Stop Heart: Another one that makes alot of sense to upgrade. App 4 gives 75% chance for success against mobs 38 and lower while Adept 1 raises that to level 39 and lower. I'm guessing Adept 3 will put it around level 41 mobs and Master could be 43 or possibly even 44 mobs.</P> <P>- Lunging Mongoose: I absolutely love this attack. The only problem with it is that it is completely useless against raid mobs because of the Stun component. Still, Upgrading to Adept 3 is probably a good upgrade damage wise and helps when doing other things besides raiding.</P> <P>- Transcendent Vision: This one makes alot of sense to upgrade. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much of an increase with it so many feel it's not worth the Ruby. This is primarily why I myself haven't upgraded it.</P> <P><BR>I haven't had much luck getting more Rubies to get upgrades but I always try to post the spell details when I do to share with others. If I get more, I'll continue to do so.</P>

I'll cross post this to the thread you started too.  Found a Jasper dirt cheap and wanted to see the upgrade from Adept 1 to Adept 3 of FoTM Face of the Mountain Adept 1 177 power 55 sec duration Increase mitigation by 189 Face of the Mountain Adept 3 177 power 55 sec duration Increase mitigation by 195 Basically it wasn't as big of an increase as I thought it might be.. boils down to an increase in 0.1% mitigation at lvl 44 Kharza 44 Monk Mistmoore <div></div>
