Any hope for an aspiring hand to hand Monk?

<DIV>I'm really into punching things...really hard...with my fists. It's pretty much the main reason I want to be a Monk - so I can kick things in the face and punch them until they collapse beneath me. I noticed that Monks get access to other weapons such as clubs, batons, staffs, etc. However, I would just rather use my fists or maybe some nice knuckles / wraps. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Am I going to be cornered into using batons or a staff to get the most damage out of my character, or will my fists / knuckles do just as good of a job as the other weapon choices? I REALLY want to punch things with my freaking fists (really hard...in various uncomfortable places), <STRONG>not</STRONG> with batons. </DIV>

Unfortunately, bare hand fighting is the last choice for a monk. Weapons do significantly more damage, plus they have +stats and procs. Fists also count as a 1 handed weapon not dual wield. Best you can do is equip some knuckles / cestii as you still get the cool animation.

<P>You have nothing to worry about.</P> <P>There are plenty Fist style weapons to use. I hardly ever duel weilded Batons/Maces/Quarterstaffs ect. I'm totally cosmetic, and I think they look the best.</P> <P>-Ilina</P>

<DIV>As mentioned before, having no weapons equipped is definitely the last choice.  Equipping items means extra damage and extra stats.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Most fist style weapons show no graphic in non-combat mode, but suddenly appear when in combat as knuckles or a spiky bowl over your hand depending on type (fistwraps/knuckles former, cestus/cestii latter).  I'm not sure if any weapons lack graphics altogether.</DIV>

I don't mind wearing knuckles or cestis, as long as it's my actualy hands doing the hurt, not a couple sticks or a staff. Thanks for the info. Glad to hear I will be able to punch things REALLY hard.

You will be gimped but not really. Nothing is wrong with you if you choose to go the hand to hand route. All weapons you can use at your level are very close in damage. Including your fists.. There are fists weapons out there too, fist wraps and few other boss mob drops, you may want to look into that too <div></div>
