I just bought a pair of hex dolls and I couldn't be happier:

pristine shadow imbued linen hex doll

+12 agi
Slot: Activatable

Casts: Hex of Shadows
Snares target by 22-26%

The cast time is 8 seconds. They can be used an unlimited number of times. Range on the spells is about 160% that of focused strike, our longest range skill, and I imagine the snare would help prevent some damage on pulls.

The main advantage is that this is a stat buff you can get in a slot that used to give no buffs: the activate slot. The snare is nice, but it's the gravy not the potatoes. There are also hex dolls for str, sta, and int. One doll lowers physical mitigation, one lowers spell resists, and the last is a 6-9% attack speed debuff.

The +12 stat dolls are T5 rares, made from a luminous harvest and a rare figwart. A T2 rare is +9 and has the exact same spell effect. This thread on the tailor board has some good info: http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=a9&message.id=1654.

I'm up to 178 agi right now unbuffed, 78.9% avoidance in Spider Stance at 45.2. Could be much higher if I got a pair of cedar staves to replace my Crook.

Imbued rings are also good: jewelers can now make imbued rings that have a stat buff spell effect. It lasts 24 minutes and you have to manually refresh it. They don't stack, so if you are getting two imbued rings be sure to get them with different bonuses. For you rich folks, the ruby rings are 8sta 6agi 6wis 33hp 35pow 360/320/360 resists, and the +11 boost to the stat you pick. I picked up a bloodstone ring and it has the same spell effect as the rare ring.

Message Edited by bonesbro on 03-28-2005 01:42 AM

Message Edited by bonesbro on 03-28-2005 11:11 AM

The non-rare ones are +11?

Correct. Though figwarts are pretty cheap, at least on Najena. I think I paid 15g each for mine.

They were 25g or so the other day on Guk, but as of this morning I couldn't find any under a plat.

*sigh*

So for the non rare that is +11 you just need the luminous essence and that's pretty much it?

Yup. They probably won't make you cough up the 23c for the T5 sullied pelt.

I made a pair of imbued shadowed cloth hex dolls (T4 rare) and the strength/agility rings. The dolls have +11 agility and the rings give another 8 or 9. Two of them brought my unbuffed agility to 170 and my unbuffed avoidance to 77.5%

When grinding exp in a non-contested area, I run right up to the mob and fire off the Hex of Shadows snare and get proximity aggro. I run off with the mob in tow. By the time the hex goes off, I am a significant distance away from the mob, and the mob is now snared so I take 0 damage on the way back. Any other group member with a hex doll (the attack speed debuff is great) can debuff the mob while I bring it in as well. You can place the hex doll in your hotbar and just click it instead of right-click 'use', but you still have to have the hex doll equipped to do so.

The T4 rings increase strength/agility by 8 or 9 it seems. You can equip it, cast the buff and de-equip it. Its a free buff and the ring quality doesn't matter really.

Something tells me that these stats will change eventually. That just doesn't seem to make much sense to require a T5 rare harvest to gain a measley +1 stat (in this case Agility). Where's the incentive to spend 25g on +12 when 25c gets you +11?

The common harvests for each tier are not used at all when making hex dolls, nor can they be.

I knew that didn't sound right.

Pricing all depends on the server and city.

For example, if shopping in Qeynos on Unrest, it's bring your own lube, because the sellers will bend you over.

I buy most monk adepts through the fence in Qeynos Harbor.

I was just wondering how much he was paying when he said "fairly cheap". Compared to others on this thread paying 25 gold or less, Unrest isnt cheap from what I have seen.

Buy the raws yourself. You can usually get a tailor to make the combine for 20g or so.

Curious what the combinations you guys are going for. Double STA, Double AGI, MIx of any of them? Waiting to get 2 T5 rare ones made but unsure what combination I want.....just looking at them for stats and not so much the effects, the effects really don't matter to me.

I'm still an all-AGI all the time monk... though I currently use a 2h weapon instead
getting DW stats. The effects of AGI buffs is still great, and I'm currently more interested in 35 agi vs. ~350 hp. When I tank a big scary mob that hits for 3k, that extra 350 hp might save me, but what I really need is an extra chance to avoid taking two of them in a row.

In regards to the imbued rings, don't just go get the rare. The proc/effect on the rare imbued is identical to the non-rare imbued. The stats on a non-imbued rare are identical to an imbued rare. So, check the stats of the rare version, if they are better than what you got, go for it. If they aren't better, get the non-rare imbued version just for the proc/effect.
