View Full Version : Alright, new "adventure pack"
<DIV>I havent bought it yet, because I learned my lesson from eq1 -- dont buy add-ons until you know you can use it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I know I can use this expansion, and not only that, many many things so far interest me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Im going to buy it whenever I get a reasonable response to this thread likely, I want to know where im going.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Im level 35, so I figure this expansion is PERFECT for me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So, a few questions.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1. What quests should I be doing in the expansion?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2. How do I get to the place I should be?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>3. Is there multiple zones, or just one big one?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>4. Is 35 indeed a good level to explore?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>5. What rewards am I looking at?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>6. What kind of group do I need?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>7. Can I solo in this expansion?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>8. Does this expansion have over powered mobs?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>9. With the new insta kill attack, can you get experience if you instantly kill a mob even, blue, or green to you? (Solo of course)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>10. Thanks</DIV>
<P>It's only five bucks. :p</P> <P>Are you really *that* worried? I mean after all. Even if you bought an EQ expansion you couldn't get the most out of right away, you did at some point, right?</P> <P>-Ilina</P>
Heh, no. I got into the habit of buying every expansion when it came out. I played since kunark in EQ1 and I didnt enter one GoD zone. However, I really dont want this to turn into an EQ1 thread <span>:smileytongue:</span> <div></div>
<P>I quit EQ a little after SoL. But anyways.</P> <P>I went ahead and picked it up. The pack is supposed to be for like 30-45 anyways, so that gives me at least five levels of content. And it's an option for someplace else to hunt.</P> <P>That made it worth my five bucks.</P> <P>-Ilina</P>

Thanks a lot kerra. Very very very much appreciate your answer. One more hypotheical question. Would it be reasonable exp to use devastating fist on a mob in say, enchanted lands? 1-hit kill and boom, xp? Very very very little I am sure, but still. After you finish off soloing one mob, you're low hp, but have enough power for DF, you pop it on a solo mob walking by you and get another xp hit... I don't know what you mean when you said "the other mobs" because solo mobs are usually by themselves... <div></div>

<DIV>So you CAN take groups into the adventure pack??</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I got put off when you could only duo the first dungeon, I managed to do it, but as I'm a conj and a duo group for that sort of dungeon really has to be tank+healer I left feeling really disappointed that I probably wouldn't be able to play the pack.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>4 of us rocked into Nek the day it came out and found we had to spilt up, really no that much fun <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I don't think the rest of my guild was too impressed either as out of 100 people I have heard nothing at all about it except the one member has got himself the hell hound.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>As already mentioned the expansion takes place in Nek Forest.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Dmorte Burial Chambers is the first zone, located by the shadowmen near the citadel. You will have to complete 2 quests here, each in a different instance of the zone. Mobs range 31-33 for first instance and 35^ I think for the nameds. Regular mobs in 2nd instance was slightly higher 32-34 on average. You need to examine the /claim ring item to enter the instance, and upon completion you will receive a neck item (crest) that gets better as you do the 2nd instance and better yet once you complete the final quest in Crypt of T'haen which is a later zone that I will discuss more below. About the confusion on this zone, it was DUO only pre-order and even up till a recent patch when they changed it to allow a full group to enter.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Next you will be entering Tombs of Night (there are 3 instances of this one, 2 quested version then the pure version that you will travel thru to get to Crypt of T'haen which is the final zone). This is located behind Timberfalls in Nek Forest. You will need to speak to the people at Hand of Marr camp or the one across the river depending on which faction you want. First 2 quests will take you into first instance, 3rd and 4th quests will go into the 2nd instance. And 5-6th quests take place in the Crypt which involves going thru the pure instance which is the 3rd version. Upon completing quest 3 you gain vampire language and enough faction to buy the spell Devistation Fist. Some notes about the spell, it has a hefty power requirement, and does not always hit. Useful for taking out pets, or adds on occassion, but I would not advise using it when low power or low heath thinking its a free 1-shot kill, as it can miss at times. Fun spell and has some utility when needed and used proper. I would say you could complete probably through quest 4 at your level with a full group. The Crypt for quest 5-6 have some really mean mobs and would probably recommend being in a group of 40+ for them. The crest item you receive from Dmortes will finish when you complete quest 6 I believe, and you also get some more nice rewards from the camp upon completion.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Overall a very enjoyable and worthwhile exp pack. The cool factor and utility on spell alone is worth completing up to quest 3 for. Note the spell is no-trade and has no upgrade so you must complete the quests yourself to be able to get it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Another note, on both sides of the river are 2 zones (look like the entrance to Dmorte) that you can receive a quest to enter (option to enter as a group or solo versions). The mobs in these zones was 35-37 if I recall right. While you can only quest for 1 faction camp you can (unless it was bugged and fixed I havent tried recently) visit both camps and receive the quest to enter these. You can however only enter every so often before they will give you the quest to be able to re-enter, so you can go and get the quest from the other camp and re-enter to clear it out while waiting on the other camp to reset etc.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Arrowheart on <span class=date_text>04-08-2005</span> <span class=time_text>08:31 AM</span>
