To answer your original question... i cannot speak for the higher end as im only 29 but on Unrest i have never had an issue LFG i play my character well that could have something to do with it but after i put lfg up i get an invite within minutes usually. Unrest is a high population so lots of people to group with.

Monks are a good class we can tank at my level i an support and dps quite well so im happy with it.

Monks are a very fun class. I played one to 60 w/epic in EQ1 and enjoy my EQ2 monk much more. High end encounters are designed around 1-4 groups, with most being one or two, so you won't do as much "raiding" at least in the EQ1 sense as you are used to. This game was extremely well put together.

As for Alchemy, don't go into it if your wanting to make money. As an alchemist you will be able to make all of your fighter upgrades for the equivalent level (at 26 alchemy, you can make your level 26 fighter skills as well as other classes, etc.) which is nice. The problem is most servers are a high percentage Alchemist and very few Sages/Jewelers. Also, a few big patches ago they took away interdepency, which is where Alchemists and Woodworkers excelled, because they would make and sell subcombines to other classes.

I'm on the Everfrost server. Here is how it currently breaks down overall:

17,704 Provisioners
16,999 Alchemists
10,493 Sages
9,170 Jewelers
8,736 Woodworkers
8,041 Armorers
7,860 Tailors
5,970 Carpenters
5,001 Weaponsmiths

On the Everfrost server, here is our breakdown:

499 Provisioners
468 Alchemists
338 Sages
253 Woodworkers
251 Jewelers
231 Armorers
222 Tailors
183 Carpenters
136 Weaponsmiths

As you can see, that is 2-4 times the competition as say a Carpenter or Weaponsmith will have.

For anyone wondering, go here to get info: http://eq2.strobe.org/

Hope this helps!!

In addition, it's always easier to find gorups if you are in a decent guild.

Of course, this is just me, I'm sure any class you choose you will have fun with.

Good luck with your decision!

From the way it seems, alot of people START to play monks then do not stick with it. For example, when I made 40 the other day; I was the 9th monk of Lucan server to make that level. Yet when you look at the lower levels, the numbers are ten fold higher. Now, a friend of mine that plays a paladin made 40 the other day as well. He found that he was the 39th paladin to make 40 on the server. Anyhow, from what I gather alot of people gave up their monks early on without even bothering to try and work with the class and see how it did in the later levels. When the AGI nerf happened I think a big chunk of monk characters were tossed in favor of plate tanks. Theres also the factor that there are so many people that can't think for themselves; so when told "MONKS CANT TANK" they simply nod and move on to another class. On the other hand, I am VERY happy that I stuck with my monk. I've had quite a bit of fun playing the class and would always be willing to give the thumbs up if somebody asks my opinions of the class. As for your alchemy question - It USED to be a good money maker But since the shared sub component patch came around it is no longer as easy to make money as an alchemist.

Message Edited by Khudson on 03-22-2005 08:07 AM

Yea, i loved my EQ monk, he was uber IMHO epic and bunch SS gear and the goodies, was in Peritus since i was friends with the family. but i've really been trying to chose between Paladin or Monk, never really played a pally in EQ, but knew some good ones but the class seems to appeal to me more in EQ2, but so does Guardian/Berserker

Also, any advice on a good tradeskill that makes nice money would be appretatied

Thanks

yeah its an awesome class to play, stay away from the forums about monks though. will spoil your pov. very versatile class at present and valued at any level.

as for an artisan, go be a carpenter if you are into making money .... (soon carpenter made items will be able to make vitality regen faster through house items and provide some serious status. and if there are only a few of you... you will be well known and get that first influx of cash before everyone else jumps on the band wagon,)

Good Luck!!
