View Full Version : At 50...
At 50, do you just tradeskill and raid and make money, to save up for the best of the best gear, then hunt for master and make adept III of all your skills? This is kind of what I imagined myself doing at level 50..Asking you level 50 monks (or just gage, only 50 monk I know that posts on these boards) to see if this is a reality. And what does it look like at 50? Are you really getting master spells, adept 3's, etc? Is money a problem at 50?
<DIV>everything u said is right.</DIV>

<DIV>Sounds right to me too, although I am already doing this at level 42. I am in no rush to reach the end.</DIV>

<DIV>I don't raid much, my guild is mostly in their 30s. I play my alts, and now with this new mentor thing, I mentor them a lot.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Money is hard to come by at 50 since they changed crafting harvested things hardly sell except rares, and now rares drop from raid/named mobs.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm not a big crafter in this game, I spent almost 15 months straight crafting in SWG and I wanted a change.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Most people do what you say though: craft, raid, harvest, get all their skills to adept 3, get all their rare armor/weapons.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm personally waiting until expansion and a hopeful level increase before I get my rare armor/items/weapons. I'd rather be one of the first with the t6 stuff. Especially since expansion should be out in May.</DIV>

Whoa ... an expansion is due out in May? I missed that! I thought that they were aiming an expansion for the end of the year?

<DIV>Well they said two expansions a year, and I think 4 adventure packs?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>By that token it'd be an adventure pack every 3 months and an expansion every six. So the expansion may not be until June.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That seems the be the rumor going around though.</DIV>

Lvl 50 monkHarvest a lot..thats redundant and boringDo a lot of heritages, but hate camping mobs, camping mobs for hours is so eq 1I am not into the monotinous tradeskilling that this game is. Its not very intuitive at all, its all button mashing.I raid, and when I raid I just hit auto attack on and go afk and eat fish sticks with tartar sauce (the spicy tartar sauce). Every now and then I'll hop back into the game from windowed mode and reposition myself for autoattack. Basically at level 50 i log on for a few hours once or twice a week do one or two things then get bored and go play counter-strikeI have been level 50 since after christmas. Monks have very little role in the end game scenerios, and your role is dps which is boring when you are used to tanking and controlling the mobs. If i wanted to sit there and spam combat skills I would have played a mage or a scout.

Right... I play with a TV window to help make the monotony a little less, well monotonous.Probably gonna make bard or enchanter alt...

<DIV>I have an illusionist alt. If you want exciting and complex game play that requies rapt attention, I recommend an enchanter. I don't think I have had more fun with any other class. I have a 35 Inquisitor as well and while it also has great playability, the uniqueness of enchanter play is more interesting to me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You can't mess up or you are dead. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

At 50 I found a new meaning in this game...first i harvested lot, then I could not even give the normal drops away, so I stopped. I did 21 Heritage quests....kinda boring but hell gave me something to do. now my new plan is i want destroyer of all possible creatures title. I already have destroyer of undeads and slayer of a few other....killing 10K of each mob will keep me busy for a few weeks. After that I have no idea.Kinda sad really but playing 8+ hours a day you need something to do LOL.

I have little patience for huge time sinks heh, which is one reason why I quit eq 1. The raster camp pretty much almost did me in. Then camping the guy who dropped the wistler robe pipes almost killed me too. I can't sit there and do the same thing over and over for 8 hours a day in a video game. It just drives me nuts and makes me extremely bored.

<DIV>my monk hit 50 about 3-4 weeks ago and I hardly play him. Heritage quest are to boring for me to do, and harvesting gives crappy income now. My guild is not high enought for Raids (me being the highest in the guild). So I pretty much play my berserker alt when I can. Im probably gonna give WoW a try since a few of my rl friends are pressuring me to play ( and they will bump a bunch of cash on me at start).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also I agree with gage I dont see a point in raiding and getting a bunch of equipment at 50, when the moment you level to 51 with a new expansion your items are already blue. Even then when your at 50 with all the uber gear, whats the point you cant hunt anyplace. I rather have T6 gear.</DIV>

We got 1 medium bp that was level 53 and two level 52 heavy bps last raid I did. However, yeah I think I am going to look into the D&D online when it comes on. Its more player skill based. You have to move around and you can physically dodge attacks by moving your toon around. You can go into first person and shoot arrows, and yes you have to aim like you do in a first person shooter. Also, monks won't get the shaft since you can now control your movement and dictate what creatures can do to you. Its also not a huge time sink from the looks of it. I just hope the monk class looks cool.

<DIV>Well I guess I will chime in ..I am not level 50 but I could have been by this point I slowed down to keep up with guildies and crafted. I know most dont like it but its fun for me I started crafting when I hit lvl 30 and could acually fund myself and I am now a 43 monk and a 45 Jeweler. Still boring but it passes the time. </DIV>
<DIV>I'm trying to pace myself relatively slow to 50. I was one of the firsts to 50 in EQ1 on my server and it was months before the expansion came out. 44 monk and 45 weaponsmith now and most likely will hit 50 in both before expansion despite taking my time. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Right now, I'm looking for the odd Master art thats up for sale, harvesting once in awhile, buying and selling things for plat, and smithing a weapons for kicks and guildies. I am getting full t5 armor, because its relatively cheap if you wait for deals and have someone tailor for free for you. </DIV>
<DIV><--- Pacing as well, and proud of it. The longer it takes me to get to 50 the longer I will enjoy the game.</DIV>

Well I'm not 50, but, for me, I craft some now and then (working on tailoring, trying to get it up above my current level so I can make my own armor since prices are outrageous,) harvest when I can. Play alts a lot. I have a Bruiser, SK, Necro, troubador, and predator alt. Had a warden that I stopped playing, and deleted, going to make another healer probably soon.
<DIV>Sounds like fun.</DIV>

You can go into first person and shoot arrows and such like you were playing HL 2. Your charcters can do acrobatics if you put skill points into it. Like dodge out of the way, do a somersault, get back up on your feet and pounce the enemy. So, its going to involve some hand-eye-coordination skills. Also, if a line of sight spell, like magic missle, comes flying at you, you can physically dodge the attack by moving out of the way. The content is designed totally opposite of a time synch. Its massive multiplayer but mission and quest driven. The missions are instanced with your raid party. So the content adjusts to your level/config. Which means all adventures will be all level ranges, not forcing you to choose content and have trivial fights. The general populus zones are not instanced and you can chat away, and adventure with lots of people in them. Also, finishing quests in certain ways changes the outcome of events.Overall, it sounds really nice. It also sounds like its actually based off your skill to play a game as well as you configure your party and equipment. Tactics sounds like it has a larger variety in this game. Also, there will be no label on your character. There will no tank, no dps, etc. Since you can run around and avoid attacks you could effectively play all mages in a raid instance and go all the way through it, if you actually knew how to play your classes well. The idea of shooting in 1st person sounds awesome too. It means you dont just click buttons you play the game. However, its in early alpha and not even near the beta stage last I read (two or three months ago) so we will have to see how it plays when its realeased.
