<DIV>I decided to log my fight while in the lost obelisk inside EL today. I was the main tank, here are my stats to start.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Level: 35</DIV> <DIV>Agi: ranged from 175-204 throughout</DIV> <DIV>Weapons: Oakwood 1/4's 1.8 delay</DIV> <DIV>Total attacks: 3619</DIV> <DIV>Total misses: 1361</DIV> <DIV>Accuracy % : 62.39%</DIV> <DIV>Total fights: 82</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Mob level range was 36-39 I believe, all yellow to orange.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I was riposted 181 times. Which is 5% of my attacks.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If I had been using a two hander with the same delay it would have been about 1/2 as many. This includes my special attacks and not just my raw melee damage. We also have a chance of our own avoidance to cut down on the damage taken.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The one big question is how does mob riposte work for damage. Do they get an extra free normal attack? I know our riposte we dont get a normal attack, its like a "riposte" attack that has a much higher damage range then normal DW at my level. I'll be hitting for 30-50 and get a 110 or something damage that wasnt from an HO. If its the same as ours work and the damage is similar to ours, I would say there would be real no point in going with a two hander to avoid those extra ripostes. The only reason I would see is if the mobs did their normal attacks, or if their "riposte" damage range is high. This could be a big factor against mobs who hit for 1000+ normal melee. The only real way to tell is to get the damage of a riposted attack which unfortunately I don't have currently.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>~Lorr</DIV> <DIV>House Archon</DIV> <DIV>High Keep Server</DIV><p>Message Edited by noisycricketx1 on <span class=date_text>03-05-2005</span> <span class=time_text>03:59 PM</span>

I've spent a lot of time studying this while MTing without going back through logs for analysis, but I really don't think it matters too much to us monks since we avoid them so much. Ripostes seem to have the same damage range as the mobs regular attacks. It does matter to a berserker though, especially considering how much haste they are capable of generating on their own. They cant avoid the ripostes as well as we can, and it's been my experience that a dual wielding berserker tank is the weakest of the fighter tree. (that is to say, takes the most damage... they certainly dont have hate building issues <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />)

That's right. The only plates that are capable of dual wielding are Guardians and Berserkers, I mentioned berserkers because they are the one's you tend to see trying to MT/Dual Wield.
