<DIV>Just curious:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Dual wield seems obvious for faster swings and more hate checks</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>but </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>has any one worked with 2h much? </DIV> <DIV> Do our CA's take weap damage into account? </DIV> <DIV>Would a 2h higher damage staff put out more dps ?</DIV>

<DIV>It depends.. I use DW.. mainly because of the stats... but I could go 2h at any time...Some people think 2h is better because they can make arts in between the hits.. but I usually am spamming Ho's or my big dmg skills.. and dont have the time to wait for attacks and such... But if I do use a 2h its because its vs bigger stuff, or that my dw's have gone greena dn my 2her is orange <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>as of right now, imo 2handers don't stack up to a pair of good dw.  mainly due to stats.  just look at the t5 rare 1hand cedar vs the 2h cedar.  i like the animations of the 2hander, but my dw pretty much owns it.  couple things to think about with dw vs 2handers of course.  i don't crunch numbers/parses much, but obviously dw will feed you more ripostes, until they come out with slippery attacks aa.  this won't affect alot of monks on raid mobs cuz monks usually end up on the back of the mob.  if your dw both proc, that's a plus.  only 1 of mine does  /shrug.  as far as raw auto-atk dps, you can come up with your own lil formula to calc the dps of any weapon.  most of the time, everyone's lil formula comes up with pretty much the same dps figures.  once again, i don't like to crunch numbers, but it seems to me that as long as the weapon somewhat matches your skill, it doesn't affect the dmg of your dbl-back-flip-kicks and what not.  another thing to consider is damage shields.  was kinda hoping they'd mitigate dw vs a ds in e2.  i know i hated dw with my war in eq bc of ds (and ripostes) but used it cuz i got rwice the procs, and thus, twice the aggro.  they came out with aa to counter ripostes and ds in eq, and i figure they will do the same in e2.  i carry a cedar 2hand, but only bc i'm not all clear on the mobs being immune to diff weap types.  with the 2handers i've seen in the game, i'll take my dw.  i'd like to see some nice staffs drop in the near future tho.  </DIV>

<DIV>Depends on the weapons available to you. For me 2 handers win by a large margin, tanking or not.</DIV>

Some epic mobs you have to use 2her, but in general stats from dual wielding outweigh anything else, including any damage that may come from hitting in between attacks.

You mean save vs? or agi?

I mean dual wielding I use mace of the watcher and slime coated for a total of 14 agi, 19 str, 55 health, and 51 power...no 2her can match those stats.

<DIV>I agree, combined most if not all dual wield weapons will exceed 2 handers when it comes to stats but imo, a lil here and there on stats is less important to me than the dps I can push out. If I am fighting mobs where I need 4 extra agi to survive an encounter then I prob should not be fighting them especially grinding exp. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When tanking I dont like the riposte damage because it hurts a lot. I may dodge an extra hit but I will get hit more because of the ripostes. I also like the benefit of a lot more damage to keep taunt.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If I am forced to solo (rarely) exp is much faster because I kill a lot faster.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And lastly style could be argued as well. If you like dual wield by all means, flavor has its place.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Well, imo, from what I parsed when I was lower level melee damage is less than half of total damage output. I might be able to see where a 2her would be really key soloing, because you could make it a bigger % of your damage and save power, however in any group with T4/5 drink and/or a chanter/bard, I can definately pump out a lot more DPS spamming damage. Tanking I've never tried 2her, because I'm not really sure how often I'm actually riposted. Anyone have some figures on how often a mob ripostes on average? Also, T4 there aren't tons of good 2hers...if I had to choose between crook and normal T5 weaps I would probably go crook, but in general I'd take rare dual wielders, because as you said before I like the style of them as well.

<DIV>I'm one of those lucky monks with Mudslinger's Arm (an extremely nice and fast 2-hander) and I have to actually switch to dual wield in combat, because I pull aggro from tank with it.</DIV> <DIV>So when I need to go dps and I have a reliable tank, I equip this baby.</DIV> <DIV>Some dual wield stuff really rocks, don't count it out when you're on MT job too, you'll not get your butt riposted to hell and back.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Can you post the stats on Mudslinger's Arm and any other pertinent info, such as where it is dropped? Thanks.
