<DIV>It should go with out saying that this game is geared towards grouping and i have no problem with that. What I do have a problem with is that I cant seem to get any XP from soloing stuff. Albiet I havn't tried much.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am a 26 monk and as I wait to find a good group I would like to be able to get some XP , not much but some, and it is not even possible. The amount of XP that I get from a solid blue solo is too small to be determined. As far as I can tell there is little to no such things as single yellows for me to kill that are not grouped and dont have two up arrows above their name.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What am I missing? Is there solo NPCs that can be killed soloing for a noteable amount of XP? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>All i have been doing is grouping, but it is hard to find a good group quickly and if I only have an hour to play, finding a group is pointless. I would rather chop wood for 60 mins straight if I could get 10 percent XP out of it.</DIV>

<DIV>I run around and solo and node click while I am LFG also. I think there's some even con solo tagged crabs/hawks over near the griffon field in TS...or at least they were even last time I went there...not sure at level 26 though.</DIV>
If you are looking for something to solo while you are looking for a group, do what I did, do quests, for example, in Thundering Steppes, as you come in from Antonica, go talk to Trapper Borgus, he'll tell you to kill something trivial, perfect, you're on your way, but before you actually go kill them, go talk to Holly Rowan in the village west of QTower2, once you've talked to her, talk to the barb on the bridge and get a quest from him. There are dozens of others around that involve killing in TS, and often you will be given tasks to kill the same types of beasts by several people, don't get me wrong, the XP isn't great and the cash loot is pretty bad quite honestly, but it sure passes the time well in comparaison to spamming OOC and waiting for tells. Additionally, green/blue/white mobs still drop chests, and chests mean cash, and when you are killing alone, you tend to win the lottos more easily, so don't look at it as XP you are losing look at it as loot you are gaining. Additionally, there's also no better time to try a new strat than when you are soloing, especially considering the fact that we get FD...Once you get to killing, start putting your own group together, you don't need a healer on mobs you can solo, so grab whoever you feel like, makes those trivial mobs go down all the faster, then the moment you see a healer asking for a group, you have all the necessary components, grab'em and go hit something tougher. You can do alot more in this game without the holy trinity than you could in EQ1, it's not the most efficient way to do things, it is still very doable, and it can actually be quite entertaining. Another added bonus is that people tend to be much more cautious when they have no healer as there is no one to blame when things go wrong, I don't know about you, but I've been in many groups that have netted me more debt than they have XP, if nothing else, the group you get before you find a healer will get you some nice safe XP before you start really grinding. If you really expect to get noticeable XP of soloable mobs, you'd better hope for more extended downtime, as unless they are giving away XP like they did over the last couple of days, you'll never see solid solo XP in EQ2, that would be like taking money out of their own pockets and burning it...

<DIV>At 26, I spent some time soloing undead in TS outside of the RoV entrance. Varsoon's Apprentices are very easy since they are casters and don't have too many HPs. In fact, with a little luck and some thought into the arts I used, there were times when I could kill them without even taking a single point of damage. They go down that quick. Plus, they occassionally dropped good vendor trash too.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>At 27 and 28, I started mixing in more melee undead and the familiars in that same area. At 29 and 30 though, it all starts to green out so you'll want to find another spot. Unfortunately, I never found a viable one.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Solo mobs in EL essentially start at level 32 so soloing efficiently there really isn't an option until 30 at a bare minimum. Even at 31, it can be challenging. It's definitely more manageable and efficent starting at 32 though. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Having said all of that, I can say without reservation that soloing just isn't very worthwhile. I used to subscribe to the idea back in my 20s that even if it took a few kills to equal 1% XP, it was still better than nothing at all, especially since I could do it with my LFG tag on. At 32, however, it's more like 4-5 kills for that 1% and the downtime is noticeable. Thus, instead of soloing now, I usually just go harvest. At least that way, I'm accomplishing something. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It sure would be nice if soloing for XP was a real option though.</DIV>

<DIV>I find the best way to find a group is to form one yourself. Do a /who lfg and start sending tells and invites. I usually have a goal or a place to hunt in mind but remain open to suggestions. Since I have some gnoll quests to finish up I usually send tells asking if they want to join a BB group and venture into the lower levels or look for named mobs there. I also say I'm open if they want to hunt elsewhere and send an invite.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've found as long as I'm polite and don't send invites people are gracious when they decline and enough accept that I'm usually not groupless for long.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also joining a guild helps alot. I do the above when my guildies are in full groups.</DIV>
