<DIV>I remeber reading in the patch notes that they finnaly fixes that but still show up as 139/110 or 112 I think. Use martial focus and it goes up 2 more points. Anyways anyone still showing a number like this?</DIV>

<DIV>Yes, it's still not fixed.  No word from what i can gather as to whether it's bugged or what is going on with it.  Some mention from the devs would be nice.  I would like to know whether taking 500-600 single hits from an orange con group monster is what they call light tank damage when I only have 700 hit points.  And before you start flaming I know I am not a heavy tank, but it gets old hearing "we are good, the ranger can tank".</DIV>

I am pretty sure the defection bug that they fixed was not realted to the 139/100 thing. I am level 25 right now, and I dont know about you guys but I block alot of attacks. And I can tank pretty decently.

<DIV>Well I though defelction was the reduction of dmg incoming to the monk, atleast thats what i recall from the description. Maybe I am mistaken. I know I parry and block alot sometimes, occasionally vs a yellow or orange double arrow group I can luck and have sometimes up to 6 of its attacks not hurt me. Anyways was just wondering if it is showing up like it supposed to. Seem 139/something lower just doesn't seem right.</DIV>

It's supposed to effect our damage mitigation not avoidance.  So it's like deflecting the damage (like a glancing blow) not deflecting the attack.  Seems like a wierd choice of words, but hey.  Whether or not it's fixed I haven't a clue <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>However it seems the only "big" attacks i see are from special attacks...  wild swing, crushing blow, etc...  So maybe that has something to do with it.  I just wish my wild swing hit for 500hp!</DIV>

<DIV>I'm still stuck on this weird belief that Deflection has the incorrect description.  But, regardless of that, with my tank buffs up, I block and parry very often.   Sometimes I'll dodge 10 attacks from a giant... other times he'll manage to hit me 3 straight times.  But hey, high-risk, high-reward.</DIV>

<DIV>I'd love to hear a response from the developers on this as well.  The way it works now our deflection doesnt change from level 20-27.  Its stays exactly the same - 139.  I don't think any developers actually read or care about the monk forums however.  Maybe post in the bruiser forums? Moorgard seems to read those.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>I know we aren't heavy tanks but I was in a group today and main tank.  We were fighting yellow to orange con group stuff.  Standard for a 4 person group.  If I was unlucky and an orange single up arrow decided to use two specials i would die.  No attempt at heal, just dead.  450-500 times two was greater than my hit points.  Now the wizard, who would get hit every once and a while would take 400-450 each special.  Granted he was a few levels higher, but this just doesn't seem right to me since we have a better armor type and a mitigation skill.</DIV>

Some ( to that level ) orange ^^ mobs in Fallen Gate easily hit for 400-500. Granted, not all of them do. Some certain kinds do every fight tho ( Giant Wretches..*shudder* ). This is of course only specials, the normal hits are about 80-120 ( last time i was there, anyway ).

<DIV>Yes, they were specials.  But it is wrong to die instantly when you get unlucky, and also wrong that the wizard, with no mitigation and very light armor to take around the same damage.  The normal damage was 75-150ish.</DIV>

If the role of deflection is to mitigate damage, then yes, it currently does not seem to be working. I dodge/block/parry/reposte enough to make me believe that these skills are working fine for tanking strong mobs, but getting hit twice by these strong mobs when I fail to parry the blow can leave me sprawled on the floor.Last night, tanking yellow double up mobs, if I got hit by a special, it was for 500ish every time.

<DIV>deflection just does not work..i know there are those of u out there that think they know what there talking abouit and insist it does. just do some tests..as the skill is described it is supposed to lessen the damage that is takern when a hit lands..it has nothing to do with your parrying or dodging or whatever else. its when these skills fail that deflection is supposed to kick in. its supposed to be like a damage reducer. sort of like getting hit but deflecting (hense the name) some of the blow away so u dont take the full hit. i believe armor is supposed to work in a similar way. at least it has in every game ive ever played.  If in fact deflection does work, then it is not doing very much of anything. Anyone that has played a monk knows that we take just about as much damage as mages do. i think our dodging/ parrying is much better than a mages though. </DIV> <DIV>   If SOE keeps insisting that we are tanks and are deviating from the role we used to play in eq 1 thats fine. then i expect there should be some trade off for having light armor. If our damage mitigation skill (deflection) isnty it, then i expect to be able to do alot more damage.</DIV> <DIV>    I can tank!! Cmon, if you could really tank u would be as sought out as a guardian or a zerker and thats not the case. Everyone knows monks can tank, they just suck at it. Sure u can do it, but no where near as good as a zerker or a guardian. Fine, i dont expect to.. im only wearing light armor..but what do i get for that. wheres the trade off..high dps?? not that ive seen.. some do say it gets better, but that would be expected..ur a higher lvl. But are u better compared to a zerker or a guardian..hmm dont think so. </DIV>

<DIV>Monks can tank, end of story.  I tank everything for my group.  Case closed.  If you don't like the class, reroll.</DIV>
