<DIV>I walked to the Dojo 5 times and everytime i got to the steps I spilled the water by tripping on some stupid loose plank. I tried going up different ways and still the same result. So when I filled up again I stood by the fountain and jumped up and down to see how much it would take to spill it and nothing happend. So I just ran the water there jumped over the steps on the dojo dock and finished it that way. No BS thats what I had to do to finish it. Anyone else have major troubles with the steps there?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>I think the idea of this quest is to test a monks ingenuity and it certainly does that - I have now seen about 4 different ways to do it and all show remarkable insight into the character of the monk involved - Basically if you cant work it out perhaps being a monk is not for that particular player - I am sure as we all progress there will be even more ingenious and lets face it - realistic(I'm sure many wannabe monks have had to do apparently impossible tasks) quests.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Admit it - when you did FINALLY work out a route - You got a MASSIVE sense of achievement :smileytongue:</DIV>

<DIV>I am not sure I had a strong sense of achievement. It was not a difficult task if you stopped to think about it for a second. If you apply some real world reasoning to the problem you shouldn't have any issues delivering the water to the Sensei.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In my case I ran to the gate leaving starcrest and spilled the water. Then I went back got some more, and then ran to the gate again and spilled it again.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So instead of trying to find another route, I stopped and asked myself: "Why would I spill water in real life?" Answer: by running with it. So I pressed shift-r and commenced to walking, and walked all the way to the dojo. Simple.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Techincally I only needed to walk near the starcrest gate, the elddar gate, the bridge over the stream, and the steps on the deck around the dojo. Everywhere else I could have been running. But hey, who is in a hurry? </DIV> <DIV><BR>Plus it was funny the number of players that walked up to me. I think many thought I was an NPC because I was walking around. They would run up and stop in front of me and watch as I walked by. It was pretty funny <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>Jumping over spots and steps that normally cause you to trip is an option. :smileywink:</DIV>

<DIV>How do you fill your pail??? Ive been screwing around with it forever. I just can't get it even started</DIV>
Yep, i simply jumped from the stone to the dojo <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>I engaged "walk" the first time I picked up the water and it kept spilling. Usually either right when I got the pail, or when I hit the stairs down to the bell. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Applying "real-life" reasoning, I figured "only take a few steps at a time." So, it was absolute overkill and wound up taking about 15 minutes to single step walk from the fountain to the Dojo. </DIV>

i loved the quest but was a little sad they didnt have a bucket animation for me to actually carry. took me 4 tries.

<DIV>It took me 5 tries and I think the spilling is somewhat random except for the loose step at the dojo. The very first time I ran all the way to the dojo with only one little mention that I 'almost' spilled it. Then that darn loose board...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But when I went back for water I spilled it twice right away while walking. When I finally got all the way to the dojo I nimbly dodged the step.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Probably just to test your patience. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Nice call on jumping the loose board!</DIV><p>Message Edited by Halfwolf on <span class=date_text>11-23-2004</span> <span class=time_text>11:55 AM</span>
<DIV>I most have spilled five or six times leaving Starcrest, I only spilled once at the dojo, Its not to bad although i do think it would be alot cooler with a bucket animation. Have the character hold thier arms straight out parallel to the ground.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Santsu on <span class=date_text>11-23-2004</span> <span class=time_text>06:18 PM</span>

<DIV>I did this last night on my first try. Thanks for all the info on this little quest. Afterwards I gave a sound beating to some chick in the grove and I'm OMW to monkdom when I ding 20, I think. I did notice while walking that after each gate I passed through I had to "nimbly avoid" closing gates. I also somehow "nimbly avoided" a loose plank. Not sure how but my agility is pretty high as a Kerra who has been picking all agility upgrades while levelling. </DIV>

<DIV>I had some horrible luck with this part of the quest. I too tried running at first, but would always spill the water when I reached the gate to SQ, so I did the walking thing. I walked ALLLLL the way through SQ, then NQ, but then every time I zoned into Elddar Grove, my arm would "catch on the gate" and the water would spill. And at 15 mins per trip, I was not amused. So the next day I figured I would try taking the bell to Baubbleshire then Elddar. Took a couple tries to get down the stairs to the bell, but once I did it was smooth sailing. What worked for me was to still run, but go 3-4 steps then stop. Down the stairs, I'd go 1 step at a time. I guess different things work for different people. Seems to be random. And I dodged that **mods 4 teh win!!1!** board at the dojo the first time hehe.</DIV>

<DIV>heh i took the boat from starcrest to the baubbleshire, ran through there to eldarr and back to the monk house, never stepped on any loose planks but for all i know i probably jumped over the steps (not sure about you all, but im jumping about every 4th step just for fun :p)</DIV>

<DIV>Hrm, I got the water, ran to elddar through down below and before stepping to that "bridge" to dojo switched to walk mode and made it safely without spilling any water. I think it was pretty logical you would spill the water if you didn't walk, I just thought I'd test how far I could run without spilling it and got it right the first time. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>i umm .... ran the whole way and even sprinted part of it lol ... took me maybe 5 mins and i never spilled the water =P i did get the message that i nimbly avoided the plank and a stone on a bridge but those were all i saw so i guess its just random lol ... i was sprinting when i passed the plank too =P</DIV>
<DIV>If I remember right when I did this part of the quest. I got the water from the fountain then I went to the docks and took the bell to the baubbleshire then ran from there to the dojo. Only event message I got was when I ran acrossed the bridge to the dojo. Maybe cause I'm a kitty that has something to do with it cause they are nimble :smileytongue:</DIV>
<DIV>This is one of those quests that is going to create so many rumours...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I ran the entire way, down to the Bell, across baubleshire, up the steps. There are 2 points that you have a random chance of spilling the bucket at, steps to the bell and the Dojo steps. No magic tapping of buttons will help. Jumping might avoid the check I suppose, I didn't try it, but I suspect you got lucky and if you look there was a "nimbly avoided spilling" type message.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This quest is purely about patience. There aren't any tricks to it, just keep on running between the Starcrest communne and Elddar grove and you will eventually get lucky.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Still, that's not going to stop people from suggesting you walk the entire way, face west whilst going up the Dojo steps, crouch, go naked etc.</DIV>
just avoid the dojo steps and all is easy <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

I did this quest a couple of days ago and although like many here it frustrated me having to repeat it several times, that was clearly the point of the quest. Looking back on it, I think it is pretty neat having a different kind of quest like this. Part of what discouraged me about SWG was the lack of creativity in the quests -- they were all very formula driven. Although there are formula driven quests in EQ2, there seems to be more immersiveness, story, and variety. As long as this water quest doesn't require 20 tries, I like it as-is!

<DIV>I completely agree with Tstorm on this one. I loved the water quest. It was definately more interesting than the standard "Go here--Kill this" type of quest. The best part about the quest was when people would ask me why I was walking so slowly and I'd reply "Not spilling the water." I had quite a few people get [Removed for Content] at me for that answer...if they only knew the truth.</DIV>

<DIV>I enjoyed the quest too, except that the Dojo door was bugged after I returned with the 25 gnoll kills. I petitioned and a GM ported me inside and then outside again. I decided to log off at that point, and when I returned, the Dojo door was working again, so I completed the water bucket task - took 2 tries. :smileyhappy:</DIV>

<DIV>I actually jumped up on the sandbox foundation then sprinted and jumped on the dojo porch not using the stairs at all. That worked pretty well.</DIV>

On my first try, I tripped on the dojo steps. On my second try, I jumped from the rock, but didn't make it. I fell into the water, but didn't spill a drop. So I jumped from the shoreline, and made it onto the dojo walkway and finished the quest.Faryll, Antonia Bayle

I was able to complete it at level 18 with a shard missing (stupid instanced zones), but why risk it, eh.

I did it on my 4th try.First try, 20 feet from the well I tripped. Second try, I got 20 feet into South Qeynos and tripped.Third try, I got 20 feet from the North Qeynos gate and tripped.Fourth try I completed, without a single event other then "You deftly avoid a loose plank" in the dojo. The only one that really got on my nerves was the third try. Of all four that was the one I was being most careful for. <img src="/smilies/1cfd6e2a9a2c0cf8e74b49b35e2e46c7.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
Actually i had no problem with mine. I hesitated between Down Below and Boat. I used the bell and had only one skill check (?) when going down the stairs. I was running/jumping without any problem. Anyway, I'm an Iksar and it's well known that we're more gifted than any other race! <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Took me 7-8 tries. I sort of lost track. I'm an ogre, so my agility is a bit lower than most.First mishap occurred on the steps down to mariner's bell in Starcrest. Second when I tripped trying to zone to S. Qeynos. Next mishap was on the stairs again. (All this was walking, I might add).I tripped entering Elddar from S. Qeynos. Tripped at the [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] S. Qeynos zone again. By now, I'm seeing red of course.Next, tripped up dojo steps. Finally, made it.Thank heavens. Me big dumb ogre. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>Just did it .. first try .. just go very slowly walking up the steps and be very patient .. got my stick but can't use it .. still level 18 at the moment .. I don't really like 2hb anyway .. prefer dual wield so I will probably just sell my stick </DIV>
<DIV>Ran the entire way, sprinted, jumped, hit many obstacles... Did it in one try. I think it has something to do with your agility and the fact that I had 82 at the time must have had something to do with it.</FONT></DIV>

After 8 attempts and 6 of those getting my arm caught up in the NQ/EG gate... I just took the down below and did it in 1/4 of the time it took me to walk. Then I jumped off the rock on to the porch completely evading the steps. Oh.. I did this running too.

<DIV>This quest took me 3 tries. I found that I could run as long as I wasnt near a gate. What really ticked me off was spilling water twice after walking through the Eldarr Grove gate from NQ. It siad I snagged my arm on the gate and spilled it. What I did the last time was take Starcrest marine bell to the Harbor then ran to the EG gate and had no issues. Not bad. hehe Weird I could balance myself onthe boat and not spill it but I waste the water opening the gate. ^_^ Made it into the dojo with no issues and fought the renegade monk. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV><p>Message Edited by chaiyunfat on <span class=date_text>12-22-2004</span> <span class=time_text>05:01 PM</span>

I ran through the Down Below - as it was much faster that way. I jumped from the stone to the left of the dojo onto the walkway - avoiding the steps completely. Took me 3 goes (the first two I ran over the steps and spilled it).
