<DIV>Has anyone else noticed how inconsistant soloing mobs can be - As a newly qualified Monk I can take yellow solo mobs but have recently been having my butt  kicked by Grey ^^ solo mobs - How can this be - I have got HO's running almost non stop but certain mobs(Antonican Highwaymen mainly)  seem to be vastly underconned and at level 14 can take a 20 monk  - This can't be right ?? <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <P>Message Edited by Pilijer on <SPAN class=date_text>11-21-2004</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>03:34 AM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by Pilijer on <span class=date_text>11-21-2004</span> <span class=time_text>03:35 AM</span>

<DIV>I havent seen any "highwaymen" that are marked solo. You sure they are not marked group content ? I also just got 20 and am a monk and it takes everything i got to kill 1 of those highwaymen. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

I have a hard time Solo killing the ^ ... killing a ^^ solo might not happen at all. I would just like to find something to solo that yields good xp! I don’t understand why everyone thinks it’s a bad thing to Solo. -sigh- It feels like doing anything Solo in EQ2 is punished with a sound [Removed for Content] kicking or [Removed for Content] poor loot/xp.

<DIV>From what I've seen, those ^^ mobs are significantly more difficult than their ^ and "no ^" counterparts.  They seem to have a ton more power and hp.  </DIV>

<DIV>Isn't it silly that you can get a grey mob with the group arrows up that can kick your trash. And because it is grey you get nada for xp?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I really think they need to drop all the xp and color levels down one level. Soloing can be quite the joke sometimes if you can be handed your fanny by greens and greys and get no real xp for 'em.</DIV>

<DIV>If you are over 20, hit up the animals in Thundering Steppes.  There are tons of non-agro white and blue mobs all over the place and they offer decent exp.  Sticking to blues, though not as big a jump, I use very little power and can kill through serveral before needing to rest.</DIV>

<DIV>Soloing does take longer but its not to hard, I solo yellows in thunder steppes with little problem and im only 19th lvl. Get the crabs on the beach. Of course grouping will always get you more exp and better equipment then soloing mobs will.</DIV>

<DIV>Anything ^ or ^^ is a group encounter. </DIV>

<DIV>My main point is reflected in an earlier post - Grey = No xp for encounter - group OR Solo - In that case - Why can they own you sometimes - I believe group cons should have a separate solo con for encounters - They can adjust the con based on someone higher entering the group so why not that as well ??</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As for being group encounters and therefore  technically - heaven forbid n- solo players should run - How do soloers get cool drops unless they take down the regular loot droppers ie. ^^ mobs ??</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also if NPC solo mobs can hand lower level groups their heads on a plate its only fair PC players get the same abilities :smileywink:</DIV>

<DIV>In the world of Norrath there are two type of encounters:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Solo  (mobs balanced for single player to fight - con here gives a true picture of your ability vs this mob)</DIV> <DIV>Group  (Mobs intended for groups of 3 or more players.  Con gives an idea of how a group of liked level players would fair against this mob).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you find a The highway man you speak of has several times the normal hp for his level because he is tuned to be defeated by a GROUP of level 14 players.  If he has Up arrows then the is tuned to give said group a run for their money.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you cannot solo him, that is why.</DIV>

<DIV>While we are on this topic, maybe one of you has some suggestions for Hunting animals in the TS (Thundering steppes):</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Those MEGA herds of antelope.  They con yellow (sometimes with down arrows) yet the encounter seems inpressively difficult due to the fact that there are 10+ antelope in the bunch.   Are there any elegant strats for dealign with these killer swarms?</DIV>

<DIV>I would say for a large group like that, is just make sure the tank is AoE taunting, and everyone is assisting them so you kill them quick.  I dont think the antelope in a herd like that have tons of hit points, so quickly killing them one by one is key.  If you have mages, have them AoE as long as you are taunting should be fine.</DIV>

<DIV>Exclip - Nice try - My point wasnt about questing for armour  as  in this you are preaching to the converted(I am currently the quest leader in Toxx) but more about skill drops obtained mainly from large chests dropping from encounters with said ^^ mobs.:smileytongue:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>While I'm at it guys - Try and stay with the subject - The post is about soloing - Take group tactics elsewhere please.</DIV> <P>Message Edited by Pilijer on <SPAN class=date_text>11-25-2004</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>02:30 AM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by Pilijer on <span class=date_text>11-25-2004</span> <span class=time_text>02:30 AM</span>

<DIV>I should add that a nice spot between groups for solo fun would be around varsoon at 24+. You can sometimes find even con footsoldiers or troops at that lvl in the forest and now and then some even con Varsoon apps. At 25 its even better since most foots are even and you can take on the Lts with realative ease. I should point out that the Varsoon apps are very EASY to kill. BUT they are casters and nuke for alot sometimes. They drop in 5-10 seconds but it's an all or nothing sort of deal. Kill em fast or FD. Most of them are yellow/even at 24/25.</DIV>
