<DIV>For those that don't know already, "Selwyn Oakheart" in South Qeynos offers the quests for Light Armor once you hit level-20. She stands under the tree near the NQ gate. Each piece of armor will have it's own separate quest, so after receiving each piece, hail her again to get another quest.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Yokatsu</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Alright everyone listen up. The elders spawn after you kill off an entire camp of Sabretooth gnolls. 2 elders and 2 tormenters will spawn.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now, the same thing goes with the Acolytes. Go and kill the group mobs of restless Caltorsis and eventually you will have 5 acolytes spawn. at level 20 both the caltorsis and acolyte mobs were conning at green for a group. Hope this helps, good luck with your monks.</DIV>

<DIV>You need to kill the groups of Sabretooth Battlers and Rune Casters... there should also be a Gnoll tent in the middle of all the groups. This denotes a spawn point for the Elders and such</DIV>

<DIV>Don't mention it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Kinda hard being the monk on the forefront. I group with 2 other monks, another of which is a betrayer such as myself, and we were all the first 3 monks on the server, also we group with the first betrayer (2nd Pally on server), I the second (2nd monk on server), and the other monk the third (1st monk on the server). We kind ahave to figure out all this stuff to keep ahead of everyone else. Makes the game a lot of fun. good times.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Luckily the ogre pally has a lot of knoledge due to previous beta testing. Has helped us out in a few situations. I've also learned a LOT of stratedgies for monks from my own experiences and experiments. </DIV> <DIV>If anyone has any questions about monks or brawlers or anything like that ask me, I'll be happy to try and help. If you don't and the pet is summoned after locking it will make them not viable for reward. <DIV>*SPOILER*</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Monk Armor Quest 1:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For gnoll elders: Kill the ALL of the groups of battlers and rune casters surrounding a tent near Blackburrow. This isn't too tough, they conned green/gray to our group, but sometimes one group will respawn while killing the others. This will spawn a group of two elders and two tormentors (templars need tormentors). <BR></DIV> <DIV>For Caltorsis clerics: We basically had a group of 4 and just ran around Fangbreaker Keep for over an hour killing all undead, which seem to randomly respawn either magi, knights, or clerics. Clerics are the most difficult to spot, as they can only be seen from close range. This got very long and boring.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Stats on Chainweave Handwraps:</DIV> <DIV>52 ac (39 at 21)</DIV> <DIV>5 agi</DIV> <DIV>2 wis</DIV> <DIV>10 health</DIV> <DIV>14 power</DIV> <DIV>84 vs disease</DIV> <DIV>67 vs heat</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Monk Armor Quest 2:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For plague acolytes: These were definitely the toughest part (not really that tough... moreso annoying). You need to find a foci of decay (pole in the ground) near the Ruins of Caltorsis, northwest of Windstalker. Clear the 4 groups of restless Caltoris surrounding the pole. Then STAY away from the foci. The acolytes will spawn, and they MUST summon their pet before you can attack. We happened to be standing around the pole and they spawned, and the encounter broke as soon as we attacked because they didn't have a pet yet. On the bright side, if you do agro them and break the encounter, once you kill them they will respawn in about a minute. Once you kill them, the foci of decay will disappear, so you need to find another one.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For spider broodtenders: These are pretty easy once you find them in Blackburrow. A quick round through them then through again once they respawn should do the trick.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For hulking stalkers: Easy to find anywhere northwest, north, or northeast of Windstalker Village. There will be bears in the area that will agro too... but this part is pretty easy.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Stats on Chainweave Armwraps:</DIV> <DIV>82 ac (59 at 21)</DIV> <DIV>4 int</DIV> <DIV>3 str</DIV> <DIV>10 health</DIV> <DIV>15 power</DIV> <DIV>67 vs divine</DIV> <DIV>84 vs poison</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Monk Armor Quest 3:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For feign zombies: You have to go down the big spiral staircase in Stormhold to get to the lower level... pretty much all armor quest 3's are here so if you can get a nice solid group of 6 down here you shouldn't have much of a problem (Although tell me if you do... our group was basically 20/21 but we have experience grouping with each other) The feign zombies we found in two different places, and they are encounter level 23's and 24's with either one 2+ arrow ones or two 1+ arrow ones.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For sealed strongboxes: The way we got to these was interesting. We found a tunnel in one of the feign zombie rooms in a sewer drain that we had to click on. This led to a library with flying books that attacked... yes, books! Connected to this haunted library room is another room that should have your sealed strongboxes. This room is the better of the two places these are in because it has multiple strongboxes, and waiting for just one respawn will be enough to get you the ones you need. There is also one other room that I've found one strongbox in. In the atrium, take the door to the left when you first enter after coming down the stairs. Go down into the water, take a left, then there should be a room up ahead on your left. There should be some crusaders in here, and a strongbox in the room as well. There is only one every time I've seen in this room, so you'll have to wait for respawns.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Stats for Chainweave Sandals (wearable at 21):</DIV> <DIV>57 ac (39 at 21)</DIV> <DIV>4 sta</DIV> <DIV>4 agi</DIV> <DIV>11 health</DIV> <DIV>16 power</DIV> <DIV>101 vs magic</DIV> <DIV>50 vs mental</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Monk Armor Quest 4:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This is quest is probably the easiest to figure out on your own that I've seen yet. You basically need a solid group of 4, or a decent group of 5 or 6. This quest is nice because every class pretty much need the same things (except mages need some tougher things down here in the crypt of betrayal... I also am not sure what scouts need). One thing to clarify to your group: when there are deathly beetles around, do NOT use area of effect skills! Out of the three groups I was in we agroed beetles unnecessarily in EVERY group. This zone is extremely easy to avoid adds in... occasionally you will get a restless corpse or forsaken shriller to randomly walk by and agro. To get to this zone: Enter the Down Below, then Vermin's Snye. There are two different places to zone into the Crypt of Betrayal from this zone. If you try to head east as much as possible I've noticed you come to a spiral staircase, and down in the... "water" there should be a grate that will lead you to the Crypt.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Stats for Chainweave Mantle (wearable at 22):</DIV> <DIV>88 ac (70 at 23)</DIV> <DIV>3 sta</DIV> <DIV>5 wis</DIV> <DIV>16 health</DIV> <DIV>13 power</DIV> <DIV>84 vs cold</DIV> <DIV>67 vs heat</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Monk Armor Quest 5:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Unearthed Settlers: Pretty easy, find the little village that enters the valley of undead that lead to the docks. There should be a bunch of green solo unearthed settlers wandering around the area. Watch out, because their buddies with double up arrows can be nasty. Should be able to solo this part.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Sabertooth diviners: These are extremely easy to get. They spawn right by Qeynos Tower 1 in the little basin. Just need a group to get these.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Swarm beetles: Head to the western coast of Thundering Steppes to get these. Initially we found some in the plains area and we got multiple adds and half our group died (thank Karana for feign death!). The western coast you should be able to find swarms running a little east of the beach, without getting griffon adds and such. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Corpse feeders: These you should be able to find around the area with unearthed settlers. Slightly higher than unearthed settlers, but still considered a solo encounter. Easy.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Stats for Chainweave Leggings (wearable at 23):</DIV> <DIV>91 ac (76 at level 24)</DIV> <DIV>6 int</DIV> <DIV>3 str</DIV> <DIV>11 health</DIV> <DIV>19 power</DIV> <DIV>67 vs cold</DIV> <DIV>101 vs poison</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Monk Armor Quest 6</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Steelhoof mystics: There are a few different places to find these. You can try near Varsoon (middle, eastern field on the map) or the fields with the mighty griffons (I only found one there in the two hours I was fighting there) in the southwest. The quickest way that I found was to go to the southwest griffon field, but go to the southern edge of the field. There should be a few buildings with centaurs surrounding it, and mystics composed of about 1/3 of the spawns there. Got the mystics I needed in about less than half an hour there.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Griffawns: Soloable... if you can jump up and focused strike them out of the air or use throwing knives. Lots of these are really high up, so if you can, bring knives <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> This is the easiest part of this quest. Lots of griffawns can be found in Thundermist Valley... which you will find if you keep following the road out of Antonica to the southwest.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Highland Huntresses: By far the most annoying part of this quest (especially from what I've read from other people). I found the best way to do this is to get a solid group of 3 (preferably more) The best field that I found to find these is in the southwest where all the mighty griffons are. Have your friends sit idly by in a safe area on the outside of the field, and you will pull to them. Find any highland stalkers, patriarchs, or matriarchs and pull them, they are placeholders for the highland huntresses. Sometimes if you keep running the lions will be far enough behind that none of their attacks will hit, other times they will keep hitting you the entire run... so if things get nasty, feign! That's what we have it for! Also, watch out, because the mighty griffon adds are nasty--they stun. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Shadowdash: I've read about people having problems spawning Shadowdash; however, I had no problems, it just took me a while to find the place. If you follow the road in Thundermist valley there will be a lake on the map with a pit JUST to the south of it. In between the lake and the pit there are a group of rocks. All you have to do is run up to the rocks... Shadowdash came. He conned even at 25 with ^^ arrows, and had two even friends. Definitely should have a group of 4 or more here (unless you are very confident you can win with three) because he is harder than Ott Stompgut (the named spawn for plate classes).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Stats on Chainweave Gi (wearable at 24):</DIV> <DIV>157 ac (131 at level 25)</DIV> <DIV>5 agi</DIV> <DIV>4 str</DIV> <DIV>16 health</DIV> <DIV>16 power</DIV> <DIV>84 vs disease</DIV> <DIV>84 vs magic</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Congratulations! I have completed the monk armor quest except for the breast plate. Which i will be doing tonight. One good solid group is all you need. You cannot equip the pants till lvl 23. I have some kodiac skin gloves that are actually slightly better than the chain weave. The pants look like newbie pants. They look like sweat pants, the same looking pants you see all the monk NPCs wear.I will be doing breast plates tonight, so if all goes well I will post the complete list of items tonight or tomorrow.-Wong23 monk on Kithicor

<DIV>I have a question on the Plagued Acolytes. To get them to spawn around the Foci all 4 groupings of skeles have to be killed before any respawn correct? And if so is it a guarantee that they will spawn once thats done? Took a group there today and we have been fighting the groupings over and over killing them all but can't ever seem to get the Acolytes to spawn. I read the earlier posts just wondering if its 100% always spawn. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks for the help in advance.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Javnar 20 Monk on Befallen</DIV>

<P>In my experience it is a 100% chance of spawning. Between the Sabertooth Gnolls, Darkpaw Gnolls, and the Restless Catorsis I have never seen a 'camp' fail to spawn after you kill all four groups.</P> <P>The only reasons I can see for the acolytes not spawning would be either because there was a bug that prevented that from happening or because one of the groups respawned before you were able to take out the last group.</P>

hehe nice pic.I finished my quest last week and you can't wear the bp until you are lvl 24 =)Its not hard with 1 full group. We are now doing the second wave of quest armor runs for guild mates so everyone should be full quest armor soon. The named mobs are easy to trigger so that won't be an issue. Infact the hardest part was the huntress. For some reason only 2 spawn per an hour, and i don't know why.

FYI, the stalkers (male version of the huntress) is the place holder. Kill those to spawn the females. I think it actually speeds things up. I have done so many armor quests for the guild now, i think i am gonna hold off on quests for while once we are all done. hit lvl 25 and im almost lvl 26 gonna hit up nek forest pretty soon. Also the scarab queen in the krypt gives a nice pair of light armor legs. Better ac than the quest monk legs even. Talk to the cryptkeeper in the crypt of betrayal to do the quest. Bettle queen is access only, and instanced, and only doable every 8 hours.

<DIV>If you're going to become a monk and you are in Freeport you must do the betrayal quest. Monks are Qeynos only.</DIV>

Aye that looks nice.
<DIV>I found a strange bug today killing the Plague mobs. We would clear the area get them to spawn then not get any quest credit for killing them. We would get exp for the kills so it wasnt yelling or anything it just wouldnt count as a quest credit. I had 17 kills already so I know it can work. It got so annoying we all just called it quits and had turkey. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>This IS a bug and its caused by not waiting for the summoners amongst the mobs to cast their pets (thereby completing the spawn) -If you wait til you see pets you will get the encounter to run correctly - :smileywink:</DIV>
<DIV>I just wanted to say thanks for this great post. Im now working on the fourth piece and I cant wait to have the whole set, even if I do think its kind of ugly. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>Our group worked on AQ2 last night trying to kill the Plaguebringer Acolytes. Dunno if it was just us or what but at just about every foci of decay point we went to there was a 'distressed merchant' standing there. We took out all mobs of restless caltorsites surrounding the foci, but the Acolytes would not show up. I was wondering if it was because the merchant was interfering with the spawning of them. Anyone had the same problem??</DIV> <DIV>We eventually got all acolytes needed but it took longer than usual because we kept having to avoid those foci of decay points where the merchants were. Which by the way, they give you nothing special to buy from them for saving them from their impending "doom". Shoulda let the merchant die or kill him/her myself. :smileymad:</DIV>

<DIV>Aye, in that field where the giants and griffons are, and on the other side of the rd by the wolves/griffons.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Keep in mind that the matriarch and patriarch are placeholders for the huntresses. You'll get them to spawn in solo^^ and in groups with a "pack" of lions.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>They spawn slow so keep that in mind.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I did it with 2 other guys on the quest so we had to kill about 15 of them, and it took us a couple hours I think. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just keep circling the SW plains and you'll get them eventually.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've also seen some by Tower 4 but nowhere near as many or as often.</DIV>

<DIV>So the Matriarchs and Patriarchs are placeholders for the hunteresses? Someone else said it was the male verison Stalkers which were PHs. Maybe both? I just need the last ten hunteresses and hopefully it's not gonna take me 15 hours to complete this thing. Thanks for the info all, take care.</DIV>

<DIV>I got the huntresses to spawn by killing the lion cubs. I did this over by the giants and griffons and also by Qeynos Tower 3. The lion cubs are not placeholders, but trigger mobs I think. Kill a couple spawns of those and I would see a huntress up. Could be the patriarchs and matriarchs are placeholders, but i didn't kill them all that often. One place where I have seen a huntress up repeatedly (after killing the cubs, they seem to come in 2's and 3's) was at the gnoll lookout tower near the zone to Antonica via the waterfall. Just south of the towers and before the crater you will see a couple solo cubs wandering. Try killing there for a bit.</DIV>

<DIV>I must say that I'm quite confused. I thought that the quest armor had the look of the monks that are in Elddar Grove in the dojo. To me this armor doesn't look anywhere near as good. I was so excited to get betrayed and into Qeynos so that I could start working on my armor immediatly. I'm kinda let down.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>One thing I've noticed is that some of the monks I've come across have been wearing armor like this while some of them do have the dojo looking kind. <DIV>Refering to Distressed merchants:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Yeah it sucks when they're there because the only thing u can do is kill the 4 spawns as usual and have him be not distressed (the reward he gives u is to become a vendor...woopee). He'll despawn after a while and then the foci will respawn after 10-15 mins. My advice is that if you see distressed merchants up, go to a different instance and check it out there. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>BTW I'm an ogre male monk on my 4th peice... excited to see how it'll turn out <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>actually craaq those leggings are the same graphics as no leggings at all. You shouldn't see the set at all unless you wear the whole thing (although the arm graphics show even if you are only wearing the arms). So right now you only have the arm graphic showing, expect your pants to be the same color.</DIV>

<DIV>I like how kerra one is bugged, the back half of the top part is like.... nudged down too far, it sinks into your shoulders and down into the pants... it's like tucked in in the back and doesn't go over your shoulders and doesn't look like it would stay on on a real person. About the "foci of decay," does it actually say "foci?"What's with SOE and their inability to grasp the English language, e.g. "A Caltorsis Magi?" "Magi" is PLURAL, SOE, as is "Foci." Please feel free to contact me if you'd like a language consultant to review your spelling, grammar, etc. I'll help fix these things and others, such as "...your nuts!" in Windstalker Village.I hope that someday you seek to hire people with skill in English to match the skills of your technical people.
Actually, Magi is not plural. Magi simply means "sorcerer" or a large number of other similar things. They were also members of the Zoroastrian caste of priests of the Persians and Medes.Foci is plural however, but it sounds better than "Focus of Decay", and this is fantasy, so fancy words like that are just cooler. Whiner.
