The best thing you can do is farm for rares everytime you reach a new tier, so when you hit 30 start farming, then at 32 your set. Of course you can use just quest items for your gear but either way you'll have to put in the work. As far as shields go get a good buckler and go down the sta line for leveling, you'll get a nice balance of damage and protection, try and at least have your shield and weapon mastercraft for every tier.

Anyways hope I was able to help, GL and have fun

I agree with the previous post about the armour. Your first priority should be to get fully kitted out in AQ armour. This will see you well into the 30's.Thereafter it's Feysteel, Ebon and Cobalt vanguard plate. By the time you hit 62 have your Xego ready. This will be your base kit until you start harvesting the top end Legendary, Relic and ultimately Fabled gear. Before you get to Xego, don't even think about upgrading your vanguard unless you loot it yourself. Upgrades at these levels are a complete waste of time as the stats by and large will not be a huge improvement and you will outgrow them so quickly.

I also agree about the body pulling. Ranged pulling is only really used for low level soloing and extremely rare cases otherwise. Get into the habit of body pulling early as it will then be far easier for you later on.

Thanks guys - I really appreciate the advice!

I'm now level 20, so I'll take your advice and try do the Armor Quests.

Just wanted to ask - how do I create a macro that warns everyone what I am going to pull? I see alot of tanks using them.

Also, sometimes when I am MT, I struggle to quickly switch to the next mob once a mob is killed. I usually use the "TAB" button but sometimes this targets another mob beyond the conflict, and then a stray spell goes and pulls it, and all hell breaks loose. Is there a safer way to switch to other mobs in a fight without clicking on them or using TAB? Otherwise I'll just be a bit more careful.

Anyway, thanks for your help!

Tilt your camera to a degree where you can only see the add(Usually an overhead view), then press tab. It only grabs things it can see. If you can manipulate your mouse fast enough you can get pretty good at that.

As far as a pulling macro I use the following:

Get off yer duffs! I got a %t comming to a beat down!

The %t will display what you have targeted.

As most have implied, taunt should be your first ability that you use and the first that you upgrade. I have masters on all my taunts. Additionally, I use both my single target and group taunts every fight no matter the number of mobs (as long as you are the tank, if you are in a group for DPS, it goes without saying to not use them unless you have a crappy tank who cant hold agro). Also as a side note I tell to all beginers, when you are in a group that has a chanter who is mezzing, do not use your 'blue' aoes as this can break their mezz and without a good amount of agro built from you they will kill the chanter.

As far as shields go, it can depend on what AA tree you go with. If you are going STA, then you will be looking for bucklers only, and I have found that imbued crafted are normally the best. If you go down any other tree, then tower shields will be a great help. Read the threads on 1h/shield vs. 2hd vs. dw compairisons to see what might work best with you.

Newbie zerker here myself. As for useful macros, I try to group 2 skills together with similar recast times just to conserve the number of clicks, mouse movements and keep my primary hotbar from cluttering. So at my level I have a macro for Wild Strike and Kick, and another for Surround and Tackle. I'd then set up another 2 macros for each of my heroic opportunities. The rest of the hotbar would then have my taunts and any CAs that don't share similar recast timers (like Master's Rage, or any of the short 30 second buffs). I also keep the macro-ed CAs on a smaller hotbar nearby just so I can see when they refresh and because they are grouped, I know when on eis refreshed the other will as well.

I've convinced her to allow me to try EQ2 when I get back from I..Q with the US A..Y. Anyways I'm an Iksar kinda guy...can Iksars be Beserkers? Second question would be what's the best way to go with Iksars? Any Racial bonuses?

Anyways that's it...thanksss.

As for targeting the best trick is to use F8(targets the closest mob) and that way you can keep spaming that when a mob is about to die and it wont change targets untill he is dead. This way you dont have to mess with camera angle and you will never accidently tab to something that isnt in the group you are fighting. Just reasign it to a key close to where you rest your hands, mine happens to be numpad 0.

About the targeting question, I'm at work atm but I use a macro with:

/target_nearest_npc

At least I think that's the command .. I can check once I get home if it doesn't work.
