<DIV>Forgive the noobie question here, but I just rolled a Berserker not too long ago, and just recently dinged 22. I do not have the expansion that allows for AAs yet. Was just wondering how important AAs are and if there are any successful Berserkers out there that operate without them. Any feedback is appreciated.</DIV>

They aren't life or death, but its nice to have them since it would only improve you character further. You could get more offensive capabilities with double attack, critical hits, haste. Or you could be more defensive with more avoidance, or mitigation. Or you could get a little of both.<div></div>

You earn AA exp every time you complete a blue or higher con quest, every time you get explore exp and every time you kill a new named mob. You don't lose any adventuring exp. Therefore, the younger you start earning AA the better.  Is KoS worth buying just for AA? That depends on your wallet, really. The AAs do make your character more effective at the margin, certainly.

<DIV>Well you are going to have to get the expansion, which includes the ability to gain AA's, at some point, if you want to level higher.  And the sooner you start getting them, the better.  So unless you plan on just leveling to 60 and stopping there forever, you should get them now.</DIV>

Personally, I would consider any level 60 character with no AA's to be a [Removed for Content]...but that's just me. <div></div>

<div></div>Honestly, in the 20s it's not going to make or break you. In the 20s and 30s you're not likely to get more than 10 achievement points unless you turn off combat xp and level really slowly. Your best bet is to wait until EoF comes out and get the retail box version that comes with all three expansions and that will bring you up to date.Othesus - Dirge - Lucan DLereVaspar - Fury - Lucan DLere<div></div>

Thanks for the great responses everyone. I will probably wait for the new expansion and get completely up to date. My favorite setup at the moment is in small groups (4-6), with the occasional raid, but nothing lately. Level 60/70 seems so far away, but as someone else put it if AAs are obtained automatically I should look into setting it up asap. I was always under the assumption that you either gained exp towards adventure levels OR AAs, good to know thats not the case. Thanks again guys.

Correct... you gain AA's through quests, killing named mobs, exploring new areas, etc... and then when you hit the level cap though regular exp as well.AA's are KEY... I mean you CAN exist without them... but if you have 0 AA's and your assassin buddy has many of them... good luck holding aggro.... lol. Also they help alot on taking less dmg also.As someone else said if you are like lvl 50 and have no AA's at this point you would be "[Removed for Content]" and I would take someone else as my tank over you in a heart beat.... Since you can't gain AA's until 20 and you are 22... you are pretty much good to go.. just buy EOF as someone else said and you agreed to do... and be done with it.  you might be lvl 30 by then but in the grand scheme of things it won't be a huge deal.... you WILL catch up.... most people starting today hit lvl 70 with between 25-40 AA's... I hit it with about 32 because I restarted in June... earning those last 18 AAs wasn't so bad compared to earning 50 ;-p  and earning my other levels went faster because I was so much more efficient due to the AA's I already had... especially soloing.<div></div>

Just wanted to add that some heroic ^^^ also gives AP the first time you kill it especially in KoS and DoF zones. Also lore and Legend, language, heritage and collections give a large amount of AP (10-20%). Looting some rare merchant folder also can give (5-10%) AP.  <div></div>

As I was leveling I noticed that alot of the mobs in Permafrost/Solusek gave AA for the first time you killed them. >.><div></div>
