Hello zerkers! Many in my guild are rolling alts with EoF release and I have decided to go zerker. As such I have a few questions from you veterans.#1 WIth AA lines dictating weapon type is there any viable option to go down three trees? I say this because tier 5 AA skills don't generally blow me away for this class.#2 With the second AA line dictating type of weapon is there any reason in continuing to worry about keeping multiple weapon skills high?#3 I will go down the sta AA line; but after that which AA line is most viable pvp option? Just perusing the options it appears zerker AA's are extremely balanced and either option is doable alongside STA. Tier 5 in AGI line is intriguing because it would allow for great counter attacks in pvp.#4 What priority should I give to stat boosts? Keep in mind this will be a pvp char and wisdom is important for resists.#5 Until I gain the necessary AA points to spend on double attack in the STA line should I ditch the 1H/buckler combo for DW/2H? If so are their any advantages to one over the other (2H v DW)?#6 Is my damage more from CA's, auto attack, or a combo of both. How do I balance auto attack with CA's to maximize my dps? Thanks ahead of time for your help.Theodric, future berserker of Kelethin and Nagafen.
Message Edited by Kerygma on 10-23-2006 03:05 PM
Message Edited by Kerygma on 10-24-2006 03:50 PM

Well... alot of us are not on PvP so hard to say... if logic holds I would go STA + WIS like non-PvP... the advantage of being in offensive or defensive without paying a penalty is pretty huge... I am also guessing the MIT debuff from the special attack (belly smash) would be handy... and ofcourse the DPS increase... stack that all up along side the MIT boost AA and well... hard to deny that WIS line just can't go wrong.... it enhances any playstyle IMHO.

Most of us pair it with STA line for DPS... but lets face it the removal of stance penalty as well as the added MIT make it better for 100% tank builds for people not worried about holding aggro too.

In PvP I would think STA + WIS would be every bit as important as non-PvP merely from the fact that having a high DPS rating as well as a solid Defense leaves you very versitile and hardens you for solo-kills. PvP is often very similar to solo kills in non-PvP except that the mobs are "way smarter" and some spells/abilities get nefed by SoE for PvP.

I just re-read your post... 3 AA trees... yes you can do that... but there is a catch.

Tier 5 AA abilities are not astounding... the best of them is the stance mastery... but you can ignore that for non-raid stuff probably.

The trick is that we are tanks... Tier 4 abilities are where the defensive stuff is.

lets go over it all from scratch....

Tier 0 stuff is just bind wounds.

Tier 1 stuff is stats

Tier 2 stuff is situational attacks

Tier 3 stuff is DPS.

Tier 4 stuff is Defensive stuff

Tier 5 stuff are the 8 AA abilities like stance mastery.

So... to tank well you need alot of Tier 4 stuff.

4 + 4 + 4 +8 = 18

1 + 18 + 18 = 37... 50 - 37 = 13.

You can not get 3 tier 4 defesive AA's maxed... it's impossible.... you can max 2 but only spend 2 in the third.

Tier 1 AA skills don't have a major impact on stats.

Tier 2 AA skills are situational depending on the weap (and some like my favorite the belly smash do not work on epics.) If you are tanking and not using the STA line you can only really use 1 of these at a time... if you DO go down the STA line you can use 2... or if you decide to dual wield you can use 2... however dual wielding doesn't give you as much DPS as STA line does anyway.

So you are lefts with Tier 3 and Tier 4 skills really being the only things that are worth a crap on raids.

You CAN max 3 Tier 3 (DPS oriented) AA's... but I will tell ya right now... with no evade type skills to drop aggro down and the amount of DPS we can do that would probably NOT be wise if you have opted for no defensive AAs.... basically you would get aggro pretty easy, have no way to drop off the aggro list, and wouldn't be spec'd out to tank. If you didn't raid this would be OK. I would suggest STA, WIS, and probably STR as the 3rd. The remaining points I would put into Tier 4 STA just to flush you out as completely offensive (increased chance to riposte which = more dmg)

However like I was saying... focusing on just DPS AA's would make it difficult to raid... since you get very little gains from Tier 1 and Tier 2 stuff it is far more economical to try and plug your AA's after you get what you want into the 2 AA trees you have already "explored" into tiers 3,4, and 5. This is why most of us look like this

1 - bind wound

STA - 4-4-8

WIS - 4-4-8-4-8

leaving you with 5 points to scatter into your choice of shield use or MIT.

Most go

STA - 4-4-8-1
WIS - 4-4-8-8-8

I went

STA - 4-4-8-5
WIS - 4-4-8-4-8

For me it was a gamble on the fact avoidence will mean more in EoF... I could be proven wrong.

Now is it worth it to keep multiple weapon skills high?

Yes.... only the STA line has more than 1 tier of skill that forces the weapon type... everything else it's the Tier 2 ability like Belly smash. While I do enjoy Belly smash in groups it is [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] near useless on raids since I can't knock anything down... and if you can't knock it down you can't Belly smash it. If you can't Belly smash it you have no need for a club for anything.

Now granted... I have a [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] fine club.... and I am STA/WIS AA lines... but if I was to get a higher damage weap that was not a club... I'd probably use it.... especially on raids.

I didn't raise anything BUT club from lvl 30-60... I then went to the broker... looked for the lowest delay dual wield weaps possible from the lowest tier possible... I then turned off my STR buff... went to Thundering Steeps... then Enchanted lands... then Sinking sands... I think it took me 3 hours to raise each skill to cap. To gain skill you need hits... you don't need big hits... you pick something super easy and do as little damage as possible per hit so that you don't have to keep pulling... then you watch TV. You recap like that... some groups are OK with letting ya recap while exping... but if it's too low it hurts the team dynamics... lets put it this way... not only is your skill too low to hit BUT you are using like treasured weapons vs mastercrafted/legendary/fabled in most cases... it's hard to do DPS or even hold aggro like that. capping weap skills as a zerker is just so easy solo there is no reason to possibly hurt your reputation by losing aggro or having terrible DPS while in a group.

I suggest capping your ranged skill also with a bow... when you get like lvl 50 if your skill isn't capped there is an archfiend I think named dude in nektropos castle #1... he is rooted in place ;-p You will need a bow sometimes on raids... not often but if the AE is nasty and the mob has a mem wipe and you ae not the MT it's best to just do slow and steady DPS from far away.

Message Edited by Nembutal on 10-25-2006 08:34 AM
