He was lvl 26. When I first started playing several weeks ago, I was happy. I saw Berserker listed and thought "Finally, offensive fighters". Turns out I was wrong. They turned something that should have been a maelstrom of sheer offensive hate into just another meatshield tank. One of these days when they list a class as fighter it'll mean just that. Not Mr. "Please Hit Me Alot So The Squishies Don't Die".

If ya bothered reading the forums on Berserkers, they don't truely become offensive until higher levels. Lesson learned I guess :smileytongue:

Berserkers do awesome dps provided you know how to play.

yep they get alot more dps them guards. Brawlers do more more dps then them but they dont have the plate. Also a side note. If you didnt want to be a meatsheild for squishies and wanted to do major dps why did u pick a tank class? I think ud be better off going with a scout. chain armor and lots of dps.

Im sorry you missed out on the Enjoyment of Open Wounds, Rampage, Destruction etc.Im sorry you missed out on the sheer Joy that is pulling the whole bottom Floor in the nest, hitting Insolent Gibe, open woulds and destruction and sitting back and watching the Magic happen as your group unfolds a thing of beauty...but i digressI feel for what you will surely miss

To Holystones: I was not aware that Berserker was going to be a tank class. To Legiax: So I have to play through 40+ levels of Berserker to actually become a Berserker? Does that make sense to you?

I believe that if you play a class that is awesome from 1-40 then they should not be as good as a class that sucks from 1-40 when you reach 40-70 IMO. Reason being that you should be rewarded for sitting through the 40 levels of suck with 20 levels of near god strength.

As far as DPS after 40 goes I group at 56 w/ all sorts of DPS toons. I usually get out DPS'ed by Rangers, Wizards, Brusiers, and Warlocks. Sometimes other classes will get close, but most of the time they are left behind and I still have my rampage left

However with the exception of Bruisers (due to high avoidance) those classes typically die rather quickly when faced with aggro. The beauty of the high level berserker is the mitigation + sweet dps. Who cares if you can blow an encounter away in 15 seconds (warlocks) if the encounter can kill you in 10.

to the OP.. roll a rogue, you should have fun although my brig really started to be awesome at level 50+, its a long way but worth it

but you should never classify a class at level 26 as being good/bad because like mentionned we often get good CAs later on.

But I'm still going to be making a Zerk soon

Wanting to be a Sephiroth or a Legolas or a Forest Whitaker (which by the way, I highly recommend that movie: Ghost Dog) right out of the gate just ain't gonna happen.

I did not expect the berserker to be a plate-wearer (though I figured out from the character screen that it was). I did not expect the berserker to be able to use shields just like a guardian. I guess after 3 years of playing a zerker in DaoC, I expected something a bit similar .. studded leather, good evasion, dual-wielding as the only good option. Silly of me to assume, yes. Either way, I'm still happy with my EQ2 zerker through the first 40 levels. Damage is weaker than I'd hoped, but apparantely that will improve, and he tanks a lot better than I'd expected. He is a good melee to duo with my wifes warden.

Any class that is a part of the fighter archetype = tank.

any class that is a part of the priest archtype = healer

any class that is part of the scout archetype = melee DPS (except bards which are more about buffing)

any class that is part of the mage archetype = magic DPS (except enchanters which are more about buffing)

The only people that should get [Removed for Content] off are brawlers who can't tank real good right now against epics) but are fighters... bards and enchanters.... those are the exceptions to the rules. Bezerker isn't an exception.

Thisis the type of issue that was supposed to be avoided by the original Isle of refuge design... you started out a s a fighter then became a warrior... then picked bezerker or guardian.... with the huge instance of WoW-player crying when they started they changed the newb experiance and now this mishaps occur. Really it's funny to me because they didn't alter the classes spell lists much if at all pre-lvl 20 anyway... so basically when you are lvl 19 you and a guardian are still like the exact same thing.

And the moral of the story is, don't go by the name of the class when choosing it. Berserkers don't wear a bear skin and fight bare-handed, Templars aren't knights, Wardens don't hand out tickets to badly parked horses and Inquisitors don't force you to sit in comfy chairs.

As someone who has a 56th Zerker and a 51 Bruiser, I can say that they both are fun classes. I can solo alot more named mobs for lewt with Bruiser but the tanking is much better with the Zerker. The Bruiser is really sick in what he can do to mobs as a soloer, but I do love my Zerker too for tankin multiple mobs. And yes, with Rampage and Gibe ect...the DPS did go through the roof. But, as far as soloing, not enough to come near what the Bruiser does easy. The Bruiser is able to solo mobs the Zerker had to be 5 levels higher to do, and even then with the 5 level or more higher, the fightds were touch and go where as the Bruiser owned em at much lower levels. But when it comes to pullin huge mobs and goin to town on em in a group, the Zerker has no equal. he holds agro as easy as pie and dishes out insame DPS while doing so. Actually, in a duel last night with a Zerker one level higher than me, I got owned. I think it was Offending Def thast did me in. But at anyrate, to the orig OP, Zerkers are great, but maybe not what you were hoping for. Your best bet maybe a Bruiser or a Swashie. GL.:smileywink:
